I think the Bridgeport gate is a dangerous one, poor visibility. Especially in a golf cart after dark. Hope everyone is OK.

This morning Daily Sun, man fell out out of golf cart, lady also injured. Probably missed the curve. Accident under investigation.

I thought this would be in the local section but it is not. It is on A10.

I drove through there this morning (heading from south to north). Just before the Bridgeport gate, there is/was a yellow sign that said "Carts must yield to cars) ... that was knocked down on the right side of the path and tire tracks in the planting area.

Lake Miona or Lake Sumter?

There is no entrance so hard to see, no curve too sharp to negotiate, no hill too steep to climb, etc....if one is paying attention and driving the proper speed.

How do so many of us make it every day without incident?

Does it say in the paper if the couple is OK? Or does anyone know?

The paper reported that one (the man, I think) was airlifted to Orlando, I think. Airlifted suggests serious, to me.

The intersection features very annoying "speed bumps" which are right at the "stop line." I frankly suspect someone going faster than should have, hitting these bumps "head on!"

While trying to be polite, one might note that this was shortly after Lake Sumter Landing closed down for the night!

Is there such a thing as seat belts/restraints made for golf carts?
The 1st time we rented a cart at TV I was suprised, after taking a sharp turn, that the side bar didn't afford much protection from sliding across the bench seat. At least the driver has the steering wheel to hold onto... pity the poor passenger!
I take my turns slower now...but...restraints might be in our future...if there is such a thing.

Street legal carts require seat belts.

Our Columbia Par Car has seat belts in the back seat.

The side bar is pretty much useless. The handle in the roof does a better job of keeping the passenger in the cart. However, if you are transporting a young child, he/she may not be able to reach the handle. There is an after market that sells seat belts for regular golf carts. I've seen them on the web. If we ever have grandkids and they come to visit, we will be investing in seat belts for them.

I personally think any golf cart driving on the roads in the Villages should have to ware seat belts, if for nothing else its to protect the passenger.

Although I think it should be an option, I don't think we need another cradle to grave law.
