We ate at Dickey's Barbeque Pit in Grand Traverse Plaza in The Villages. It was great! Just like being back in Austin without the Shiner Beer. We would recommend this place to anyone that likes Texas Style barbeque. Here is their website Dickey'''s Barbecue Pit (https://www.dickeys.com/).

You just made think of Franklin or Snow barbecue back in Texas. Hard to beat those but Dickey's is the closest I've found around here.

I’ll try it.
Altman’s is the best beef I’ve had in Florida so far.
Anyone can cook pork.

I do miss my chopped brisket. Should have visited my favorite BBQ spot last year when we were back in Houston but we were good and tried to stay on our new heart healthy diet. We did eat at Pappasito's but it had changed a lot in seven years. The habit of eating at our local Mexican restaurant, three times a week sometimes, before we retired was probably the reason we had to become more heart healthy conscious! Thanks for the recommendation.

Count'n the Days: I'm curious as to how Pappasitos has changed. They were one of our favorites, along with the original Ninfa's on Navigation.

More good news. Buc-ee's is now in Florida. Their chopped brisket sandwiches are very good.

Don't know if its Texas style or not, but, M&M smokehouse on 44 just before IS -75 , on the east bound side & alongs McDonalds has some of the best barbecue in the area- the owner is a veteran, and has a huge following from truckers on the roadway

Great brisket, St. Louis ribs, & chicken= check out their website--lots of praise

FYI, I've seen Shiner (bock) on sale at Aldi's. You can buy a six pack, get Dickey's take-out and be home again in the Lone Star State.

Welcomed like family by Savannah and the two gentlemen at the counter for a down-home generous serving of the delicious food this venue serves. Deeply smoked, flavorful, and moist meats. Wonderfully prepared sides. This place is consistent and consistently terrific!
