Most gift cards are non refundable.
There should be a number on the card to call.

The thing is though, most gift cards are non-refundable *because* they are useable.
They don't want people trading in a guaranteed sale for one company, into cash where they can spend at another company.

But if the company is out of business, that gift card can't be used anywhere at all and the money goes right into the company's pockets. Bankruptcy can protect the company and render those gift card debts invalid. I hope they'll honor the gift cards and allow them to be used elsewhere - but depending on the method of their closing, they might not have to.

Actually you might as well hang on to it, why ? Well it very well could be a " Collector Card " some day.

Hey frame it. :)

its called unsecured credit, so don't expect any refunds, and especially any refunds after declaring bankruptcy. With gift cards, one should use them ASAP, because its dead money not appreciating in any way, and always subject to loss as unsecured credit.

good luck. . .

Call the Villages Entertainment (352) 750-5411 and get your name on their list. They have not yet decided how this will be handled but promised to get back to me when a decision has been made.

And, therein lies the problem with gift cards. They are a liability on the corporate balance sheet. Bankruptcy will wipe that away completely. Now, it's just a worthless piece of plastic. Never buy gift cards ... at least not store specific ones. If you don't know what to buy for a gift, consider using a generic (Visa) gift card that is good just about anywhere.

Restaurants love you to buy gift certificates. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 20% never get redeemed and they have guarantee cash in hand.

Did they file for bankruptcy or just close and in the process of liquidating assets?

Did they file for bankruptcy or just close and in the process of liquidating assets? We must ASSUME that they just closed Katie Belle's. They still own/operate Tierra Del Sol Bar & Grill, Lazy Mac's Taco Shack, Amelia's at the Waterfront Inn, Fenney Grill.

Perhaps one of those will honor them. Worth a call.

Dee, call The Villages Box office (not Katie Belle's)...I've called and left messages regarding tickets for shows at the Sharon and The Savannah Center and they eventually returned my call

they are short handed

I seriously doubt that the Morse family (that owned Katie Belle's) will not make you whole on this

I have read in several different places. The Morse family had sold Kaite Belle's to Paige Boones husband. They are getting divorced. Hopefully, the Morse family will buy it back.

sorry to hear that

the family as a whole has a lot of integrity and refunding any outstanding gift cards for Katie Belle's is really chump change for them

they'll do the right thing....albeit it may take awhile

Gift cards should be used ASAP....it's only money in the bank for the one selling the gift cards

I would be surprised if the gift cards are not refunded or honored in another way.

Not just restaurants. All businesses love gift cards.

Here is the answer directly from Entertainment: Call Katie Belle's 352-750-9411 to start the process. You will need to take your gift card or certificate to them for refund. That being said, restaurant hours when they were open started at 3:30 P.M. So, if you call prior to that and get no answer, try after 3:30. If that still doesn't work, I am trying to get more contact information. I'm a District Rep for VHA and will work for you to get refunds if this procedure doesn't work. If anyone has success with the Box Offices, please let me know. 775-8447

As a rule of thumb, use ANY gift card just as soon as possible. The way things are today, you just never know...

The last question was did Katie Belle's file Bankruptcy? We know they closed. If they filed, as mentioned previously unsecured creditors get wiped out.

I always forget the card when I go.

I can't remember where I placed it.

It always expires before I can find the card.

Etc, etc, etc
