Ask around for bids , are you going to put plants and palms for in , if your just taking the grass alone there’s many guys who can do that , make sure you have a weed mat down , last 3 homes with rock 2 with village palm , but there are many good companies

We also had our grass removed believing that stone would be more economical and easier to live with. Boy were we mistaken. They used a sod cutter to remove the Zoysia grass (aka Torpedo grass). Then staked down weed block cloth. Over time the weeds and residual Zoysia popped through. It was much easier getting the grass cut then finding someone to pull weeds. Of course we also sprayed Roundup when we were here. To make a long story short, grass was easier. We still had to water the shrubs.

When removing grass to replace it with stone the process that is recommended is as follows.
Treat the area to be removed with grass and weed killer. It is vegetation herbicide and not soil destroying.
After the grass and weeds have been neutralized, remove it.
You can spray the area again with herbicide for weeds and grass and the weed block it. This combination will stop the vegetation from growing and block sun exposure to the surface.
Wait to plant the recommended time on the herbicide container.
Over the mat before planting spray or spread bug control.
Plant then rock.
Fertalizer should be applied in accordance to plant label.
Hopefully this helps.

You can also go to ace hardware in wildwood. Ask for Tom he will be a lot of help. You can also call and ask if you want. I do know he is the best source of information I have found.

Zoysia grass (aka Torpedo grass) not true.

if my experience, 'weed block cloth' is a misnomer,,, weed regrowth retarder cloth is closer to actual definition,,, just as anywhere else, weeds need to either be sprayed OR pulled,,, then again, as fortunate retirees, its not as if we don't have time

Only courtyard villas are allowed to remove all grass.

I had all grass pulled and put rocks in my patio villa. someone complained about it and now the tv is after me to put grass back. they will only come after you if someone complained. you need a permit to remove the grass. three feet off of road belongs to tv and they want the grass to stay. be careful.

Use Round Up because what could possibly go wrong using an over the counter agent orange.

Here.
Homemade Weed Killer
Try this homemade weed killer as part of your spring lawn care: a gallon of vinegar, a cup of salt or Borax, and a tablespoon of dish soap. To apply, use a spray bottle where you can toggle the nozzle between a spray or a stream. If it’s a small area, shoot a stream; if it’s an all-over weed situation, go for the spray. Don’t go crazy, though.

“Be careful with it,” Reichert advises. “It doesn’t know the difference between a weed and a flower.” Especially when using the more potent Borax (a naturally occurring substance that doesn’t cause lingering harm to an ecosystem or absorb through skin), the solution can also kill the soil so that nothing else will grow around it. This method works best on a sunny day, as the natural acid will burn the plant and the salt will shrivel it up by sundown (the dish soap helps the solution stick to the weeds). For a quick curb appeal fix, this one is also lasting.
