Good morning folks! What is your favorite restaurant to go to for a birthday dinner or lunch? Also, how would you spend a perfect birthday?

I would chose Chop House or Lopez Legacy if staying in TV. In Ocala I would select Mesa de Notte.

I get to choose my birthday venue, and I always pick the unhealthiest junk food available.
MacD's, BK, or any really greasy spoon establishment available.
Wife feeds me 'nutritious' stuff for 364 days a year, but my birthday treat is sacred!

Turners in Leesburg, by far the most outstanding restaurant in the ares. Note, reservations cannot exceed four persons.

For a really superb special occasion, try the French restaurant La Cuisine, in the old heart of Ocala. The chef was an award-winning chef in Lyons, France before moving to Ocala. He and his wife are very nice. It’s quiet and beautiful. The food is the way French food should be. It’s hard to find restaurants in the area that are “the real thing”, such as excellent pizza, or Thai, or Szechuan, or Indian, or Tex-Mex, or Italian. (I don’t count The Olive Garden as anywhere near excellent.) For a really special occasion, try La Cuisine.

Sakura! Love the hibachi grill area. I always do my birthday there. You can get 20-24 people and basically fill one whole section (two grill stations) and get two chefs entertaining your group, or 10-12 and take half. It’s a lot of fun to have those guys entertain your group and really has a party atmosphere. And if you check the Valpak coupons, sometimes there will be coupons where you get 10% off on your birthday. You have to be there on the actual day and show your ID to use that coupon. We go to the one near Publix in Spanish Springs plaza. There is another in Colony I think but I’ve never been there. Make reservations for your party and be careful who you mention it to. Next year you’ll have people wanting to be invited (and there’s limited seating) and some will notice your birthday came and went with no invitation...

boy does this question hit the nail on the head. My 65th birthday is coming up June 10th and it's a great question. There is so many decent choices. I love sushi I love BBQ I even love Italian and American steaks.

maybe I'll go to 1 restaurant in the morning one for lunch one for dinner and ramshackle Cafe for a late-night night snack & beer

Mark's in Ocala if you want a steak done just right and outstanding service to go along with it....if you like authentic Greek food Opa's in Orlando can't be beat.

The Chop House in TV is nice too, as is the Japanese Steak House...both in LSL

The Rose Plantation in Wildwood.
Great upscale dining, very flavorful menu with a tasty pie desert selection.
We go there to celebrate our special occasions.
They are still closed and should be open by the end of the summer.

But if you are really budget-minded, McCall's in Spanish Springs offers free dinner on the day of your birthday. What a great present for a spouse <verybiggrin>

I can't remember being 65 years old.... OMG, our son is 60! We residents are in very different places, at least in part due to varying ages. What we attempt to do (though too often family don't let us) is ignore birthdays and anniversaries. We can enjoy a good meal out anytime; it doesn't have to be a 'special occasion.' Nowadays, though, that 'good restaurant meal' gets delivered, and we enjoy it at home nonetheless.

The Rose Plantation. Have not had a bad meal yet, love eating on the porch, the views are marvelous, and the wait staff is also great. We complimented a side dish and the chef came out to meet us and to talk about that particular dish. Love this place.

My favorite birthday was my last one.
The wife finally did what I asked of her. Nothing.
She spoils me everyday all day long.

Too bad there was a fire but must say the interior desperately needed a renovation. It felt "dirty" and dated in there.

I do not share your point of view. Turners has the most unaccommodating chief (owner) of any restaurant I have ever been to. We walked out.

Really?

Every time we’ve dined at Turners we were treated well, had a wonderful meal and an overall great experience.

Just wondering what your “unaccommodating” issue was.

We celebrated our Anniversary with a to-go from The Chop House. Ordered chateaubrian (sp) rare, cooked to perfection HOT delicious. My husband had a steak with same comment. Wonderful. Then I recently had lunch there and they have a cream of mushroom soup that was delish!!! And a great grouper sandwich. That might be a fun place to go for your birthday.

These are all great suggestions, especially the Chop House, but for my birthday I love the Cotillion in WIldwood so I can have CAKE!
