I know many homes in The Villages are built with cable connection pre-wired on the Lanai. I need to add a cable connection to my lanai and have no idea who to contact other than Comcast. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Tom at Villages AV, 352-388-1677, will probably do it. Also, any good electrician can probably do it.
But, I think you may still need Comcast if you are energizing a new line and renting a new cable box. So you may want to check with them because Comcast may be a cheaper way to go. If you are just extending an existing energized line, then you may not need Comcast.

right, only the cable provider can activate the line (legally)
ya might want to check out if going with a WiFi connection is a better option....so many folks are cutting the cable nowadays

Buy a Smart TV and no cable is needed. Your WiFi needs to be strong enough. I have been streaming for a year, it's less expensive, very convenient and the direction TV is going.

This post is 100% correct. We " Had " Century Link cut the cable got a smart TV.
Problem solved. We kept Century for our computers and land line. Saved $$,
Wish we had done it sooner.:) We did call Tom from AV who mounted it. 352 388-1677, he is very reasonable and interesting guy.

Hi Whoever you have for cable should be able to do this. We had a cable outlet in our Lanai. But they should be able to do that. I use Spectrum and they just had to come out and activate all my outlets.

RobertWR is correct. Smart tv is the way to go. No cable box or multiple wires . Just one from tv to electric outlet. Your Wi-Fi will pickup cable.

To provide some clarity, as i recall Comcast will not run NEW cable in the house (I assume the other cable providers are the same), various electricians will do this ($$$), but may not connect the cable in the garage. The OP was not clear if they needed an existing outlet connected or needed a NEW outlet installed. While all of the WiFi comments are valid, if the OP is using a cable box, then he will need a cable connection. Also there are additional considerations if the house is a block house. In a discussion a couple of years ago, Comcast refused to run a cable outside the house for a connection to another room, and refused to drill through the concrete block. As noted above, Tom (the av guy) would probably be the best person to talk to for possible solutions.

Comcast has wireless boxes. All you need is an electrical outlet , a television and wireless internet. The box runs off the WIFI. I have had one for three years

Good point. Another option is if you have a Roku, Apple TV or similar streaming device, you can download and use (at no additional cost) the Xfinity Stream App. No converter box needed. I’ve used it on one of my sets for the past three years. An excellent option.

Just to clarify, if you want to get the Xfinity cable tv channels using a wireless box, you need a little more than just internet service. You need to have another wired cable box as your primary cable box, and you need to use an Xfinity modem/router. You cannot use your own modem. The Xfinity wireless cable box acts as a secondary box to another wired box. But, as others have said, you can use a streaming service with just internet, but you won't get the Xfinity cable channels. All you would need is a smart tv or a dumb tv with a Roku streaming stick. I think the Roku device is the best way to go.

I bought a Roku streaming stick ($40) for my lanai. I can get Comcast as well as my Comcast DVR. It works great and a lot cheaper than paying Comcast to run a new line.

When I moved in, (new home), I had Directv installed. When the installer came, I made sure that he put connectors on all of the cable wires in the garage in the box. This way, if I ever decided to move a TV or need an additional tv hooked up. The cables were also ready. This also helped when I had Comcast installed for internet service.

Comcast can provide a wireless device for use on your lanai. That would save you the costs of an electrician.

I would call an electrician first. We had some initial work done to our existing house (new a/c and mini split), then, while doing other things, we learned that some stuff in the electrical box was "shared" when the mini split was put in, and our box was maxed out. You might want to have that checked out. And, yes, we did have an inspection when we bought the house 6 mos ago. Because everything was working, nothing was a problem. It's when you start adding stuff that you might have a problem....just a thought. We used Pike's and they didn't charge us for coming over to check out what was going on.

Wireless boxes are great UNTIL you change providers and cable is not the same as internet. I have that, we just had Scott electric add a cable for tv in master because the ones there aren’t accessible to where we have the tv. Other then that if you are savvy streaming or roku are the better way to go.

There is a box on the outside of your home where the wire runs underground from the green pillar in the rear.
Fortunately Comcast ran coax cable into my lanai

If you have wi-fi hard cable lines are not necessary

I highly suggest getting an Amazon Firestick (you will need one for each tv in the house) and stream it is so much cheaper than cable, satellite tv and you can get so many channels you won't know which to watch. Local channels are available on the Firestick plus so many more. All you need is Wifi to run this. There are no outages either.

We use a Comcast wireless box in the master bedroom and it works as well as any of our other X1 wired boxes. So assuming you have acceptable WiFi coverage on the lanai, a wireless box would be the way to go.

You should not need a cable connection. If your wifi goes to your lani you should be able to stream your live tv using the xfinity app on a roku stick or another streaming device supported by comcast

I just received my FREE Comcast Streaming Box. Either it or the service is called Peacock. The first box is free and more boxes lead you back to equipment rental of only $5 per month per box. It works with my Motorola Modem/Router. It will not have all the features functional until 7/15/2020 but it does work on a limited basis now and maybe the answer to your situation. Good Luck. It appears to be a winner.
