I've had it.

We have now lived over 3 months with the threat of severe illness and death from COVID-19. So far so good here in The Villages. Seems as if the worst is over for now. Still 'masking' and 'Soc-Dist-ing'. Glad to see our stores and restaurants opening to a degree. Life, as we knew it, is slowly returning and hopefully we will not have a serious rebound of COVID soon.

Now, we are living through the terrible racial division for over a week - with little chance of ending soon. All over a HORRIBLE incident by a few rotten apples in MN. As you know that sparked the protesting and horrific riots and looting and shooting all over the USA, and now other parts of the world. This has earmarks of escalating even more, with more loss of life. I will stop my commentary right there, attempting to simply report facts.

And, NOW! Hurricane season has just started and we will soon have the 3rd named storm.

C'mon!!! What's next? Murder Hornets? Asteroids hitting Lake Deaton? Dog poop raining down on us?

Please, can we simply skip past 2020 and go directly to 2021? I've had it.:sing::shrug::cus::mornincoffee::pray:

I think we are all so near the end of the rope on staying in.

However, people are still catching Covid-19 and dying from it.

Last week we heard the sad news from a family we have long known in Cincinnati that their 81 year old father died in the hospital after trying all of the "new things" to save him. This morning our friends posted that their mother had died of this virus early this morning.

I wish we had a clear summary of how many are infected here and when was the last death. I do read that it being warmer is a factor in keeping it from "being".

I never felt that any government entity was doing a bad job with public statistics but now I am wondering. I do NOT want to become a conspiracy theorist. I have always kind of thought of myself of a woman very interested in science that taught little children. ( I enjoyed every minute of it. Well almost every minute of it)

That's exactly what we do as well. Never watch national news, watch local mostly for weather. In the morning I like Fox 35, they're always doing local stories and they have field reporter David Martin at a different business location everyday. It's very informative, but I'm pretty sure they're paid to be featured, but that doesn't mean it's not interesting. They've got some local news, which at this time it's hard for them to ignore.

Yeah I heard the moon is really made of green cheese and the earth is actually flat.

Apply just a LITTLE logic to your consideration of what you heard:

IF being warmer is a factor in keeping it from "being"

THEN

Miami would not have been hard-hit at all.
AND THEN
Florida would not have been in the top 5 of all states infected with 56,830 total cases diagnosed.
AND THEN
Florida would not have seen 2,460 total deaths confirmed as caused by the virus.

That's just a little logic for ya.

Meanwhile, there HAVE been more deaths recently - not merely in Florida. Marion County was holding steady at only 5 deaths. Until last week. They're up to 7 now. Two additional deaths in a single week, for a county that had 5 deaths total for over two months.

You know, you are right. I get there in my musings about Miami being the worst...and the hottest...and then someone comes up with some tidbit of hope and I am sidetracked.

You may have had it but Covid hasn’t. Did you get any younger? There is still no effective treatment, still no vaccine available... so the danger is the same as before. The weather might help by the smallest percentage but that’s it.

Amazing the impact of a good riot and fire bombings has on what the media feels important to bombard you with!!

The coverage of the virus 24/7 for weeks/months is conspicuous by its all but total absence.

I went to Sam's Club yesterday, I wanted some new prescription sunglasses. I'm hitting my drives so far I can't see the ball anymore:)

That optical department was closed, so we looked around. It was biggest crowd I have seen in that store. Forget January the height of snowbird season. Every register was open and long lines and two lines all the way back to just get out the door. Every cart was filled to the top.

I think after seeing the riots, most people feel the virus thing is over and just want to get out and do something. I just spent three hours trimming my hedges and bushes in the back yard, raking the trimmings and peanut shells since we feed the squirrels, filling two big brown bags. Then I just washed my car out front. That was after I lifted weights this morning. Keep the body working and the brain will follow.

No limit now. I went to check out glasses, and they two people working but they weren't selling glasses, couldn't even try on the frames. Why they were there I have no idea, they gave me a card and said call back in a week. Things have changed in a week in the rest of the store, it was Slammed! In fact the Neighborhood Walmart at Colony has had the toilet paper aisle filled with every brand and every size for two weeks now. The only areas not replenished were the hand sanitizers and some cleaning products, like Lysol spray and the Equate version that I buy.

dont you get it -- all the hype about Covid19 was just the news media looking for extreme ratings for their network -- the years of a bad flu were often just as bad -- but back then there were no headlines or hour-long shows -- now all that has stopped because the news media has a "hotter" even more controversial story to run with -- now all that scare mongering is forgotten -- go out and live your life as you should have been doing by now

Do it GG...look for the hidden facts...please open your minds to it at least. No disrespect intended to anyone...but facts are not what you see on Television.
Business owners, beach goers and parents playing in parks are bring arrested...while looters and anarchists go free? These are paid actors in cities with Mayors that are turning their backs to the people of their states. These are Governors that put sick people in nursing homes, spreading the virus intentionally to create fear and dependency? Some say yes. Do you know that 81% of MN deaths were from nursing homes? That's right...our most vulnerable...( maybe we should check those numbers in other states?) Or about the piles of bricks showing up in these cities? Conveniently ready to toss into the front of people's hard earned business? Or, the ADS for 'crisis actors'...or hear of the loads of people arrested in MN (that were NOT from MN), being flown and bussed in just to create anarchy? These are ANTIFA thugs sponsored to do this to us. And their bailed out by the precious 'celebrities', put on pedestals by some, contributing to BAIL funds for these anarchists. It's all right there in front of you...look at the common zones/maps. Look at states not having issues. Find the information yourselves. Watch our brave citizen journalists...stop watching the MSM...they have a (very consistent) story to make you believe! Read the stories...open your mind and stop the trust for people that don't truly care about you. Where did Corona go?? All of a sudden? ...just move us on to the next way to divide us as people. Don't fall for it again! It's about votes folks...always has been.

Florida is also the 3rd most populous state in the country. We were in the peak of tourist season when this broke out. I think we did amazingly well. Miami is different than here. They get a younger shorter term tourist. Not someone who comes for a month. Some just a long weekend. Much more chance of having someone bring it with them. Just my thoughts

You forgot to add the second coming of Christ that was seen in the skies the other day... some swear it was an alien. Definitely an unidentifiable flying object

We have been living this distancing and germ fight much longer in our household while the world went on. It plays with your psyche. Like others have said we don’t watch main stream media for the various reasons so many have pointed out. We try to get out daily, even if just for a golf cart ride to see nature and beauty. About a year ago, I started dressing up for the grocery store as it is my only true outing.
We make the best of it as we can and as a couple we have had to learn how to deal with stressors with each other. But in the end this all has made us stronger with each other on a human level.
Find your peace and revisit it several times a day if need be. This is your life and there are no re-do’s or practice games. Be well.

No. It think it’s going to give the medical community time to figure out ways to reduce the death rate. You seem to be ignoring that point.

In the morning I like Fox 35, they're always doing local stories and they have field reporter David Martin at a different business location everyday. It's very informative, but I'm pretty sure they're paid to be featured, but that doesn't mean it's not interesting. They've got some local news, which at this time it's hard for them to

As someone who has worked in media in the past they do not charge for those features that you see in the broadcast. If they did/do it gets marked as a "paid advertisement".

And if a media outlet were to charge at this time for a 2-3 minute feature they really are vultures.

You do realize, I hope, that Florida is actually doing very well on a per capita basis. Remember, Florida is the third largest state in the U.S. by population. Last time I checked, New York had almost 14 times the deaths with a smaller and younger population. I am sitting here in my northern summer state that is doing far worse, population adjusted. You are lucky to be in Florida.

The same is true for the U.S. If you take out New York with its horrible record, the U.S. is doing better than many of the countries in Europe, actually far better than many. The U.S. is also in third place, population wise, which makes our numbers sound worse than they are.

Me too. It’s over the top and I find myself unable to be totally calm anymore. I’m a lover not a fighter but even a wee mouse will fight back when it feels completely cornered....so much hate, violence and disrespect from the little guy to top government agencies. So tired about how a few mess it up for all.

No. It think it’s going to give the medical community time to figure out ways to reduce the death rate. You seem to be ignoring that point.

welcome to life regardless of where you live . You will survive try to focus on helping others rather then feeling sorry for yourself .

Excellent points...thanks!

Evidently social distancing is over. Look at all the rioters together. Yeppy!

I have seen a lot of protesters, and a lot of them are wearing masks. In fact, looking at it now, almost all of them are. It looks like a better ratio than what I have seen here at some of our local watering holes. It looks like the rioters are actually a minority from what I see. Too bad there are always a few bad apples... we have them here in The Villages too!!

Not to make little of these things, BUT our parents went through a much harder life than this. MUCH harder. World wars, polio, Spanish Flu, the Great Depression, etc, etc. We should be strong and positive instead of weak and whining. Easy to say when you are retired, but we still have plenty of food and folks willing to donate to charity to keep everyone fed. If folks would quit destroying property and assaulting good folks that are trying to recoup from being shut down due to the virus, we would be better off. How anyone can condone or even tolerate the violence and destruction is beyond reason. But, there are other threads for arguing views on the supposed demonstrations. We had strong parents that lived during hard times. Their examples should be a reminder to us that we are survivors. I have been impressed with the good people of The Villages and how there must be some kind of record for the amount of charity work being performed here. Cheer up, there is a light at the end of the tunnel of life. Have faith.

A few bad apples? You're kidding, right? Being satiric? The rioters are causing millions in damage and killing and injuring many good folks. And you compare them with Villagers? The protesters should go home now. They have accomplished their goal. If they go home, the rioters can be handled appropriately. This is NO minor thing. Folks are losing their livelihood as well as some being severely injured or killed. There is no justification for this.

What nonsense this is. If Mr. Floyd's ethnicity was of any other race the media would not care and there would be 1 non televised memorial service. RIP sir but this is over the top!

Check the mayor coverage protest in Richmond Va 2 days ago for an example. Mask are a bonus to hide behind for these people. Do they ever work?

However, one still gets to see and hear what they want us to hear and see.
They drone on hour after hour...dwelling on subjects that suit their agenda(s).

Watching the news this week one could conclude the pandemic is over. Very little and most often no coverage at all. Completely over shadowed by the over blown coverage of race rioting.

C'mon Folks, as I said in the intial post, I've had it. Have seriously cut my TV news watching to an hour at the most. Limited my net-News viewing. Read 'happy newspaper'... All-in-all, attempting to refrain from anger with brain and tummy issues with all the "current events".

So I tune into ToTV every day... AND WHAT DO I SEE????>>>>

...almost wish for a Doc's Delorean ride with Marty and go back to 1960's...

Most of the 60's were pretty good for people like me (white male, too young to be drafted), but not so much...for a lot of others. :(

John_W

The 60's had a lot of turmoil, of course Vietnam effected just about everyone and everything. We started with Buddy Holly, Elvis and then Beatles, so there was some good in that decade. TVs got color, homes got air conditioning, and I graduated from high school.

I took a train from St. Petersburg to Baltimore the spring of '69. After I returned from the dining car, a young mother and baby were in my seat, so I went to lounge. Spent the entire rest of the trip with a bunch of Army guys, it seemed like they were having more fun than me. After I spend that summer working in a sub shop on the boardwalk in Ocean City Maryland. I returned to Florida and quit college, and even though my draft lottery status was never in jeopardy, I enlisted in the Army January 1970.

I volunteered for Vietnam and what happens, they sent me to Korea for 13 months, and then 12 months in Savannah Georgia. When I got out, I worked for the FAA for the next 8 years. In my free time I bought and sold four new homes before I was 29 years old. The last two I was my own general contractor, without ever getting any real training.

Played on a softball team for five years, bowled in a league, lived on the Gulf Coast in both St. Petersburg and Pensacola, couldn't of asked for better places. The 1970's if I could live them again, I would do it in a heartbeat!!

Well, there are many people who have aids and are able to live a fairly normal life.

They don't need to wear a mask to go to the gym, the movie theater or to buy groceries.

Because of mine and my wife's compromised health conditions we can't risk being with many of our loved ones because of their professions.

grrrrrrrrrrrr!

OK, just now - had a radio talk show on while reading the (happy news)TV paper. The show happened to play all the Drew Brees matter - his initial comments, the retraction, another retraction, his fellow player's condemnation, etc etc etc. I felt my blood pressure raising along with my heart rate thruout. After trying to intellectually listen for about 8 minutes, off went the radio. ONCE AGAIN... THAT'S IT!!! I'm back to my hobbytime with CD's playing music. It's good for my mental and physical conditioning.

'course we're set to play golf this afternoon, and THAT'S not good for me either....but at least I'm away from 'current events'
