The state of Minnesota launched a sweeping civil rights investigation of the Minneapolis Police Department on Tuesday, a week after a white officer is alleged to have killed a black man during an arrest, officials said.
The probe, stemming from the death of George Floyd, will be designed to root out "systemic racism that is generations deep," Gov. Tim Walz told reporters.
"The investigation will review MPD's policies, procedures and practices over the last 10 years to determine if the department has utilized systemic discriminatory practices towards people of color."
For the overall best interest of everyone, I hope they dig really deep with a good balance of investigators, but only find small pockets and not a large, systemic issue...with the Minneapolis police department.
I would also like to see other states (or even the FBI) doing the same thing...with the cities known to have similar problems.
Those cities who have good, clean departments, with unions who want the same thing...will have nothing to worry about.
For those who don't...consider yourself being on notice.

As long as it is a fair impartial investigation nothing wrong with it

Early Tuesday morning a retired St.Louis Police Captain was shot and killed by looters outside of a pawn shop in North St.Louis.
David Dorn was a retired police captain who helped out the owners of Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry from time to time. When the store’s alarm would go off he would respond and check out the situation.
Early Tuesday morning he responded to the store’s alarm which was set off by looters who shot and killed him.
Police found him around 2:30 am laying dead on the sidewalk. Apparently the incident was captured on a Facebook Live.
“He was murdered by looters at a pawnshop. He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to. Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer,”
– St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department
David Dorn spent 38 years with the St.Louis Metropolitan Police Department before he became the police chief with Moline Acres.
Officers will be wearing mourning badges in response to Dorn’s death. He will be greatly missed by the community.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Retired Officer Dorn.

According to the FBI crime report, 10 million arrests last year.
19 unarmed whites were shot and killed by police.
9 unarmed blacks were shot and killed by police.
Over 80 police officers died in the line of duty.
191 murders in Chicago so far this year, the majority black on black..

You do know some people will ask for proof...then they will proceed to obfuscate.

I'd definitely like to see a link to that. I just did a few different google searches: violent crime data by race 2019, 2019 FBI crime statistics, 2019 violent crime FBI, and then I browsed the FBI website itself. I have only found so far the 2019 data that dates from January 2019 to June 2019, and is not broken down by race. It's broken down by the population of the city and the nature of the crime.
Perhaps it's just another of those memes. Or perhaps I need to type something else into my search engine to find the right thing. But if it's "according to the FBI," then the FBI webpage should have it listed somewhere.

Unfortunately the looters are out there to loot and using the murder as an excuse and now a good man pays for this with his life
