Looking for recommendations on who to use to take down (or significantly reduce the size of) a large tree that is quite close to our home.

Previously we have used Stanage's, but they aren't responding (and, yes, we did pay their bill!)

Thank you

I would recommend Tree Frog, however, you may need ARC approval for tree removal. Tree Frog has a certified tree expert that should be able to handle the ARC approval requirements.

Thank you, VT - will give TreeFrog a call - "with a name like that they HAVE to be good" :-)

We used AmeriTree 352-461-4890. Matt Ray is honest as the day is long. Very fair-minded and good pricing! Even discounts for Veterans if you go that route

I, too, highly recommend Kanani Morris, Tree Frog Tree Frog Tree Service - Home (https://www.tfesllc.com/). He was at my house just this afternoon to check out some work I need on my trees. He does great work, you will not be disappointed.

He told me just today that he is taking out many of the oaks and replacing them with good trees.

We just had Stanage remove an oak tree and he said he was swamped with work for the villages. Keep trying him it took us a couple of calls before getting in contact. He's an arborist so no need to go through arc. Good luck

Highly recommend William Bailey 352 321-8058 and 352 630-0419 He and his crew pruned my live oak. Very happy with the price and with the expertise of the job.

Winburn’s 352-636-2074. Took down 9 of our palm trees, and ground the roots. Very reasonable and cleaned up mess. Several people in our “loop” have also used them.

Has done a number of my trees and we are very satisfied with his professionalism and crew safety is at the for front. Also makes sure all his tools are cleaned before and after a job.

I live in a patio villa and have a VERY LARGE tree in front. The roots are starting to lift my patio stones in the yard and one of the roots seems to be following the street gutter going down the road. Do I need an approval from ARC to take it down? I hate the idea of taking down a tree but I don’t think anything can be done about the roots.

Always best to get ARC approval regardless. Unlikely that they would deny work if tree roots are found to be likely to cause structural damage. Roots can be cut and stopped, but they are there for a purpose and doing so may make tree itself more liable to fall in a storm.

I highly recommend Tip Top Tree Service. (352) 217-4924 They removed a huge oak from our front lawn, ground the stump, and replaced it with a lovely Robellini palm and several Thais and ferns. The owner, Francois, is a certified arborist and quite knowledgable. The price was much more reasonable than some of the estimates we got and I couldn't be happier with the result. After seeing the quality of their work, several of my neighbors have hired them as well.

The best way to go about this problem is to hire one of the certified arborists who are known to TV to take a look at the tree, if it needs attention they will do the necessary work with the ARC.
