Can anyone suggest a good place for a contact lens exam? I wear gas permeable hard lens and I am due for a prescription change. I live near Lang Eye, but I have heard mixed reviews on them including long waits!

Thanks,
Charlie

I wear gas permeable also and had to get new ones 6 months ago. Dr. Orr is the Optomotrist. She practices at Walmart on 466 in the vision center a couple of days a week. I received a complete eye exam and was very pleased with the service and staff.

Our Family also uses Dr. Orr at the Wal-Mart on 466

I go to Dr. Julie Beckwitt at Ocala Eye, located in Laurel Manor complex. She specializes in contact lenses and is excellent.

Never heard of a Specialist for contact lenses. Most any eye doctor is trained for contacts and glasses. Cost more if you specialize in that area?????

OK now people, I know that Wal-Mart has a vision center, but it just don't seem right to me to go to Wal-Mart for health care. My wife and I have always gone to an Opthamologist (sp) for our eye care and not an optomotrist (sp). Are there any good Opthomologists in or near TV?

I go to Ocala eye and Dr. Armstrong is my Ophthamologist ( an MD who specializes in eyes). She gives me a prescription for my eyeglasses, however, I need to see an Optomotrist in order to get my contacts. Very different. Back home one doctor did both! Dr. Beckwitt is no longer with Ocala Eye so I now see a Dr. Volmar. I like both of them very much.

If you were as hard to fit in contacts as I am, you would want a contact lense specialist. It took me a long time to find an eye doctor that could put me in contacts that I could wear AND see out of. I've been going to him now for close to 20 years. I just hope when I move to TV, I get lucky enough to find as good an eye doctor.

I just went to Walmart on 466. Dr. Orr is wonderful. I also wear gas permeable and had no trouble getting in. She is there on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. My contacts were delivered to the store in about 1 week. It costs $65 for a contact lens exam and I believe $120 for the contacts. I highly recommend her.
