Perhaps this post should be on a forum for computer geniuses, but does anybody really understand the workings of the tee time booking system? The algorithm? Our group of 8 (all Priority members) keeps getting assigned the same courses at the same times week after week, regardless of the course preference ranking. It's almost as if the system is saying to itself, "I know these guys and think they really like Caroline, even though it's their last pick." :faint:

I love the convenience of the booking system, but am fascinated by it's logic -- or lack thereof.

Hard to say, but if it was me, I would try leaving Caroline off for a week and see what happens.

That's because no one likes Caroline, so it is always available. Ha!Ha!

solution: don't include "the same courses" in your request.

Sometimes you have to step away to see a solution. As others have said, leave Caroline off and add a couple more for good measure.

As far as why, if you are willing to play an unpopular course, you are going to. It's like Pelican on the exec side.

Are you leaving a large enough window for time of play? Are you requesting course over time? Leave Caroline out of the mix for awhile. There are plenty of other equally good courses available.

Hey...I like Pelican :)

Are you asking for a tee time based on time, or course? Put in your tee time range and select prioritize by course. That might help.
(And I agree... leave Caroline off the request. Everyone is right... no one wants to play Caroline).

Hmmm. Guess I’m the exception to the rule. :)

I think that course is the hardest 9 in TV

I don't think there is even a close second.

If you keep getting the same course, stop including it in your request.

I run a group and when I first started I called the tee time office and they explained a lot on how the system works. Things like including a guest, having a non-priority guy, high average points...all go to lowering your group in the pecking order. I also learned to use course over time, and pick a large window of time. Smaller groups get their chosen times better than large groups. My advice...call the tee time office and talk to them.

Go to the Good Golf School when they reopen. They spend the second hour explaining the tee time system.

Did you click on “save this template” when you first made the request?

Don’t put Mallory in the list you’d like to play. And I’d call the t-time office and ask them to explain.

Save this template has little to do with it. I have used the same “template” for years just changing the players and courses. I pick play by time and when we get the same course several times in a row, leave it off the list. It was explained to my a long time ago and a starter gave me some additional info resently and it seems to work.

Go to GolfTheVillages.com, select the "golfing in the villages' tab, then 'requesting tee times' in the drop down. Then at the bottom of the screen you will see ....."For additional information you can click here to view the Golfing In The Villages brochure." Click on the "here" word it will take you to the detailed explanation of the tee system. That and some of the answers above will help you immensely. Most of the time, your problem stems from requesting a very tight time window, so you drop to the course that will allow that time, which is usually those courses that others do not want to play (because of difficulty, price, location, or recent aeration).

It has to do with the closing 1 course for the afternoon rounds. There system cannot handle this. So if you entered your first preference as Mallory, it does not matter witch 2 nines you picked, your just going to get whatever two mallory nines are opened that day.

Maybe you are requesting too many courses. Don’t request the last two or three you’ve played and you won’t get Them.

Me too. I actually play better when the course is more challenging.

Does submitting the request 7 days out give you a better chance of getting your preferred teetime than the person who submits 4 days out?
