Lots of canceling and "rebranding" going on today. Where will it all stop?
They've been busy canceling lots of brand names, logos, and mascots that feature minorities.
Babylon Bee satirizes this movement here:
NOTE: SATIRE WARNING!!!
Activists Fight Racism By Driving All People Of Color Out Of Pop Culture
"Anywhere we see a person of color, we see racism. So we must end racism by making sure people of color are not depicted anywhere," said white liberal activist Petunia Faucett. "We will not rest until all pop culture icons of color are eliminated. Then, racism will be over."
"When only white people are shown as mascots, cartoon characters, and brand logos, we will have truly arrived at our diverse, racism-free future."
END SATIRE WARNING!!!
But the cancelers actually go after white people too. I think Colonel Sanders is next.
The cancelers told us statues of Confederate Generals must go, not because they defended slavery, but because they were "traitorous losers"
Now they've turned their wrath to some former Presidents, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, because they were former slave owners. Their statues have been toppled and defaced. They even attack Lincoln, not sure what that's about.
The New York City Council is calling for the removal of a Thomas Jefferson statue.
I wonder if they realize who their city and state were named in honor of? The Duke of York, later King of England who while a Duke founded the Royal African Company, a British slave-trading monopoly, which shipped more African slaves to the Americas than any other institution in the history of the Atlantic slave trade. You'd think they'd start with this guy instead of Jefferson, who only owned a few slaves. Oh well, I'm sure they'll get to it shortly.
Oops! Bye Bye New Yorkers, not sure what your new name will be but hope for the best.
Same thing goes for Yale University, named for a guy who owned slaves. That Yale diploma is worthless now pal, so sorry.
The list goes on and on, I've just scratched the surface of potential targets for cancellation.
