Ok, I'm all for helping people out in foreign countries. Gives us a good name, makes friends, etc.

But Obama said we should be KEEPING the more high-tech jobs. Now his appointee is in charge of a program that is, among other things, TRAINING and OUTSOURCING Java developers to Sri Lanka?

USAID is one of the most controversial and dirty dealing agencies in the US. It ia a statutory independent federal agency but works under the State Department, sort of. It's one of those things that starts out (under the Marshall Plan) with good intent and then gets ruined with power and money. It is also one of the programs where reforms could help our budget woes. It has a multibillion dollar budget.
