People need to study the old west a bit and law enforcement during that time. Judge Isaac C. Parker was appointed to the bench for the U.S. Court for the Western District of Arkansas and served there for 21 years. Prior to his appointment to that bench outlaws would rob and kill in various states and then flee to the Indian Territory in Oklahoma where local sheriffs had no jurisdiction. These were hardened and vicious criminals. U.S. Marshals had the only authority there and Judge Parker was placed in charge of the judicial system and deputizing Marshals to go into the Indian Territory to arrest and bring back to Ft. Smith, AR for trial and sentencing. He eventually cleaned up the outlaw problem but it took stern justice to accomplish it. Hangings and lengthy prison sentences were handed out.

"I have ever had the single aim of justice in view... 'Do equal and exact justice,' is my motto, and I have often said to the grand jury, 'Permit no innocent man to be punished, but let no guilty man escape.'"

What I find interesting is that the article makes no mention of the race of the victims or suspected shooters. It took the media about 1/2 second to point out George Floyd was black and shot by a white officer, same with the Atlanta shooting. Highly likely the majority of victims were African-American, and the perps as well. So much for unbiased reporting that doesn't fit their agenda.

Media to busy promoting destruction and killing of a criminal by police to consider a relatively unimportant murder of two children. Sad.

A rational person would thus have to conclude that, obviously, black lives really don't matter in Chicago. As long as the killer is black, no one protests, riots or objects.
Why is that?

OP must be fascinated by shootings. Also started threads about shootings in NYC and Seattle. Kind of weird since this is Talk of the Villages (Florida)
Actually I hate shootings. There seems to be some that think Police should be defunded/disbanded and these posts point out the utter folly of that idea.
There is also a big focus on Police killing unarmed people but the numbers show this problem is miniscule compared to people killing unarmed people, children, even babies. We have a crime problem, not a Police brutality problem.

It just is so obvious that certain politicians and the media in general have a very specific agenda, for which there is no shame.
They are not accountable for the destruction going on all around them they choose to ignore.
It should be of concern to most of us Americans the manner in which the state of affairs we are made aware is confined to ONLY that which they choose to tell us.
A very effective step to brain wash the lemming like masses.

What I don't understand is why doesn't this also infuriate some people...
"A black man was fatally shot in the neck while washing his car in Brooklyn on Saturday — the 18th person to fall victim to gun violence during a bloody weekend across the city.
"In Chicago, five children were among the 14 people killed, including a 3-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl killed in separate shootings over Father's Day weekend."
There is justifiable outrage about the killing of George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks. But where is the outrage and protests about all the murders in Chicago and NYC in one weekend? A 3-year-old boy and 13- year-old girl murdered? I just searched the NBC News website and I couldn't find anything about the Chicago murders. But there is a link on top of the NBC site to all news about George Floyd.

You are absolutely right.
And the other group accents the opposite, thus we go round and round and get no where at all.
I believe the issue is killing ONLY BECAUSE OF A SKIN COLOR.
Killing is abhorrent behavior....the issue “supposedly” is supposed to be killing strictly because of skin color.
But you are correct. Skip to your corner frame it your own way. It certainly changes the subject.

Come on, you're way smarter than that. Cops kill just as many white people as they do black. But that seldom makes the news. Why? Why?
I read in one of your previous posts, and I'll paraphrase, that you felt that there were/are external influences driving the discourse in this country. .
How can you say it's the "only" issue when in Chicago alone 104 black people get killed, in a single weekend, for walking down the street or simply being in their homes?
I'm glad to know you think killing is abhorrent.
Maybe you can research the national stats and give us the following data:
1. Number of black people killed by white cops solely because they were black
2. Number of black people killed by black people in the commission of varous crimes.
My guess is the latter is several hundred times greater than the former.

No... I"m not trying to change the subject. I agree killing is abhorrent behavior. And I agree that the killing of Floyd and others at the hands of police is wrong.
What I don't understand is why there isn't an equal focus on all the "inner city" murders that occur way too often.
Like George Floyd, why isn't the funeral for a 3-year-old African American boy who was murdered in Chicago broadcast on national TV? Why isn't Al Sharpton giving the eulogy?
What about the 13-year-old girl who was killed in Chicago? Where is the outrage? Why aren't there protests to bring more attention to the senseless killings in the "inner city.?" There were 104 shot, 14 fatally in Chicago. Why isn't the mainstream media outraged? Why aren't we ALL trying to figure out how to "fix" this problem?
There is so much hype about police brutality. But there is so much senseless "inner city" shootings and murders. What if you disbanded every police force. No more police. Do you honestly think the inner city murders would stop?
So are you really focusing on the biggest "issue" that will reduce shootings and murders in the inner city?

Well, exciting....yes I meant what you thought and nice that we agree. Those outside influences are strong, and one of the reasons I support more stringent enforcement of existing TOTV rules about copyright protection and the clear showing of sources for the cut and paste.
On the other, my only point was the discussion about the killing of people BECAUSE OF THEIR SKIN COLOR gets turned around to defend police (they do not defending, just ckeaning up) or violence in general. Killing another human being is beyond horrible, but killing another human simply because he is of some skin color is detestable. Each time, some choose not to accept what the conversation should be about and turn it to satisfy some other motive.
Then turning it around, to me, is simply ignoring the issue. I believe in confronting an issue. That cannot be done on a forum, yet I see judgements, accusations, and not very well disguised hate.
And if you agree on the outside influences, join me on here, as we seem to ignore the ludicrous conspiracy theories bandied about with one purpose....divide us further than we are. Seems every story comes with a theory manufactured, but bought into and away we go.
One which covers both subjects is the theory that George Soros pays for protests. It has no basis in any fact and is simply spread on those questionable sites, yet on TOTV, I see folks posting as an accepted fact.

black lives matter when they can frame it in racism and push their agenda to destroy the United States. Black lives will really matter when you see concern for all lives being lost in the inner cities. BLM and Corporate News could care less about the real cause of black lives being lost. How many lives in the inner cities are being saved by destroying statues of history? The real subject of their destruction is the American way of life. People need to wise up. Stop electing political idiots that just promote or stand by and watch the destruction while playing right along with the BLM agenda.
Would be nice to have some discussions and real solutions to all the killing in our cities, not just agenda driven BS.

It's encouraging to read from so many, who are against the senseless tragedies of so much violence.
"Encouraging" that is, as long as those same folks recognize...the inherit roots of this violence.
That being areas of poverty where drugs and gangs seem to be the only option for so many young black people, because they've lost hope that they'll ever be...treated and given the same opportunities as whites.
So if your are truly aghast at this violence, hopefully you are as equally outraged and speaking up, about the disparities in income, opportunities and treatment...by our society as a whole.

For those not familiar with Jane Elliott, which is a huge shame in itself that her work isn't being taught in every school in America...here she and her famous experiment/exercise are explained.
Brown Eyes - Blue Eyes Exercise (poke here) (http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/lesson-of-a-lifetime-72754306/)
It is sometimes cited as a landmark of social science. The textbook publisher McGraw-Hill has listed her on a timeline of key educators, along with Confucius, Plato, Aristotle, Horace Mann, Booker T. Washington, Maria Montessori and 23 others.
Yet what Elliott did continues to stir controversy.
Elliott pulled out green construction paper armbands and asked each of the blue-eyed kids to wear one. "The browneyed people are the better people in this room," Elliott began. "They are cleaner and they are smarter."
She knew that the children weren't going to buy her pitch unless she came up with a reason, and the more scientific to these Space Age children of the 1960s, the better. "Eye color, hair color and skin color are caused by a chemical," Elliott went on, writing MELANIN on the blackboard. Melanin, she said, is what causes intelligence.
The more melanin, the darker the person's eyes—and the smarter the person. "Brown-eyed people have more of that chemical in their eyes, so brown-eyed people are better than those with blue eyes," Elliott said. "Blue-eyed people sit around and do nothing.
You give them something nice and they just wreck it." She could feel a chasm forming between the two groups of students.
And some of the responses to her exercise?
Well, let's just say the same attitudes (as so perfectly demonstrated by some of the posts in this thread)...exist today with a whole lot of folks. :ohdear:
"How dare you try this cruel experiment out on white children," one said.
"Black children grow up accustomed to such behavior, but white children, there's no way they could possibly understand it. It's cruel to white children and will cause them great psychological damage."
Elliott replied, "Why are we so worried about the fragile egos of white children who experience a couple of hours of made-up racism one day when blacks experience real racism every day of their lives?"
The main takeaway that people need to really get, is that racism, bigotry, prejudice is NOT predestined...it is TAUGHT. :ohdear:
.

How about close to 50 million dead in China laid at the feet of Chairman Mao? (Over decades)
How about round 100 million killed in the Soviet Union in the name of communism? (Over decades)
Nowhere in our country comes anywhere close. Several of my friends—women in their thirties—were hacked to death with machetes in the church where I worshiped with them. (Ive written about it in my book “They Don’t Eat Missionaries Anymore”.)
We are not perfect as a country but people do not realize how good we do have it. Sad that people want to remove our history to learn how we came to be where we are.

I would hate to be a black person wanting to see positive changes in my country. The violence in black communities drown out their voices and whites only want to argue statistics to justify maintaining the status quo.
If pig farmers in Alabama were shooting each other while poor whites marched in DC for social change how would they feel about the pig farmers? Not the best analogy but I have things to do.
The changes needed to turn these "animals" , "morons" etc into law abiding citizens will not come. So get used to it.

Anyone who grew up in a large metro area when we were young knows that urban violence that big cities are experiencing today would never have been tolerated when we were young. Things really started to change in law enforcement and society about 1980. In the 50’s, 60’s and even the 70’s large police departments would have never put up with today’s violence. Today they want nicer touchy feely social worker police officers. Citizens want a safe environment and expect the police to handle it while the police officer worries about every decision he or she might make. They know that the police brass will not back them if they were to make that split second decision that is controversial. I am in no way condoning police brutality or supporting those bad apples. It all started with the breakdown of the family unit and discipline in school.

It's like the Nicholson movie A Few Good Men "I want the TRUTH" "You can't handle the TRUTH".. I live minutes from Ferguson Missouri and during the riots and burnings they (the media) made it look like an entire city was burning, it was not, you could ride your bike through it in a minute or two.. They made it look like 1000's of residents were destroying their own city, they were not, the residents were all barricaded in their homes while young outsiders were torching and looting.. I saw the BLM group form up close and personal and immediately knew it was here to stay because just like the Vietnam protests and the Weather Underground revolution young impressionable people need a "cause".. I work in and around Ferguson among other similar areas still today and I can tell you that I know 1st hand no less than 98% of these residents LOVE the Police and do NOT want them defunded by even one penny and they actually want MORE police in their neighborhoods not less most also do NOT support BLM in any way shape or form.. These wonderful people really just want to be left alone to raise their children in a safe drug free, gang free neighborhood away from the news camera's but sadly our Media won't show these great people, they just want to show the guns and knives and fires along with the very small group of anarchists that use them..That's the "Truth"..

Agreed. That motto of equal justice would work today. ( Oh, what about Roger Stone and Paul Maniford being at home now)? (and Gen. Flynn is trying to skate). I would , also, suggest the motto....The carrot is MORE effective than the stick!

Steve
I wonder what % of the people in Denmark and all of Europe HATE the Police, because there they receive better training and mentoring as rookies. The US is #1 in rushing ITS rookie Police into active service. #1. There are probably better race relations in Europe....NOT perfect, but better. Also, the US is about 20th today on the world's list for "upward mobility" and about 30th in many other social qualities like life span, wealth equality and etc. These factors affect CRIME. After WWll the US was at the top of those world lists. What happened? What about tax incentives for Europe vs US?

Come on, you're way smarter than that. Cops kill just as many white people as they do black. But that seldom makes the news. Why? Why?
I read in one of your previous posts, and I'll paraphrase, that you felt that there were/are external influences driving the discourse in this country. And I'll just guess that you feel that maybe some foreign powers are at work here? If that's the case I certainly agree with you. If you meant something else I'd love to hear what you meant.
Of course, Police kill more whites than Blacks. Whites commit more crimes because there are MORE whites. I am not a rocket scientist.
jimjamuser
06-23-2020, 10:39 AM
As to "divide us further..... Russian troll hackers are doing a fine job right now. Also China, Iran, and others. It is a cheap and dirty way to get the races at each other's throat. You go V.Puteee GIRL!

Why do I have a strong hunch though...that isn't gong to happen?

And some of the responses to her exercise?

Right about seeing a change in 1980. The reason mainly was that after 1975 mostly due to changes in tax law, the US started on a road to WEALTH DISPARITY. Note;......Europe did NOT change their tax laws significantly.

How are those super strict gun control laws working in Chicago? Both NY and Chicago already have the toughest gun control laws in the whole country.
Maybe they need to spend millions to post the gun laws everywhere. Then the criminals and gangs would realize that it is against the law to possess a gun. And let them know that murder is against the law.
After all, these are good people, just need higher education to help them understand the gun laws better.

My heart feels the sadness for humans greatly when I have seen the reports, so many confused and turn that confusion into violence. I feel so much in this life for other humans in many ways. I always thought everyone did, then I found out I am an empath. I wish for this world to remove their confusion with logic and remove their knee jerk emotional reactions because so many others pay for their confusion.
