A properly fitted and worn N95 or equivalent will stop most virus sized particles. 99.99 percent of people are either not wearing or fitting properly N95 masks or are wearing paper or cloth masks. Its basically just a feel good measure

Unproven masks don’t help. Anything blocking spray from you’re mouth helps. If you’re next to me without mask you just spit in my face.

You removed your question last evening regarding me reading the article. No I didn't read it and doubtful I ever will. It's like meeting someone who just found religion. It's all you hear from them. Problem is, yours may be different from mine and all you wind up doing is alienating people.
I don't/won't wear one. If I must, I will but I'll probably just leave instead. If asked, I'll be telling someone to take a very long hike.
I'm a 100 percent healthy 62 y/o. I don't hang around bars, old people etc. Here's me and a few friends last night on a 12 miler thru the woods. It's ok, eastern boxers and gopher turtles are plannedemic free. lol

This particular coronavirus is not spread via individual molecular particles through masks. It is spread via the particles being carried in globs of mucus, saliva, tears, when someone sneezes, clears their throat, coughs, enunciates their Ss, Ps, Ts, and other plosive sounds through their mouths, or even exhales.

Cloth and paper masks stop a significant percentage of those globs from reaching your assorted facial orifices.

Nope, we now know thru several studies that covid 19 can spread through talking or just breathing. These are much smaller particles that can go through a cloth mask as if it was a chain link fence.

Duct tape across the mouth and nose works well also. Covering of any other facial orifices is purely an aesthetic move.

Yes, you understand. The mask is not to protect the wearer, it is to protect others. Wearing a mask is evidence that you are a person who cares about not just yourself but your friends and your community. Any mask is better than no mask.

Refusing to wear a mask is the opposite. Feeling healthy is not a sign of being Covid free. Several professional athletes have been feeling well enough to compete when found to be positive. Several people healthy enough to be arranging rallies have been found to be covid infected. It is the height of arrogance and ignorance for anyone to claim "I am healthy so I can do anything I ...ing please"

The mistake as I see it is the reluctance on the part of those in authority to make wearing a mask MANDATORY IN PUBLIC.

This willy nilly voluntary approach just allows what we see and hear happening....50% do not comply.....

If there is a scientific benefit to wearing masks in the reduction of spreading the virus then why the hesitation to make it mandatory?

I forgot ..........those in authority are politicians....they will not make a decision that has potential to not be popular....hence the priority of re-election vs doing what is right for the public good.

Elderly and the obese are the groups to be hit the hardest.
1. I don't go around old people, old people don't go around me.
2. If you're that old, maybe you shouldn't be outside.
3. I exercise and my BMI is 23.0. If I'm suppose to care about the health of someone who is obese (40 percent of the US population btw) and hasn't cared about themselves for decades you are mistaken!

It's amazing how many Americans are willing to let others sacrifice so that they can go maskless.

That was another thread of mine about masks that I asked you if you read the article I linked. This thread has a different article but it may be about the same two hairdressers who tested positive and had worked with 140 customers. Everyone wore masks and NOT ONE customer has tested positive for the virus. That is the story in a nutshell and I saved you the time of reading the article.

As for you not wanting to read the article......what are you afraid of? Are you afraid you might become informed about something you disagree with? Well, that is on you and you are free to remain as uninformed as you like.

How absolutely true! Our president has chosen to set a very bad example and refuses to wear a mask in public. He also refuses to encourage the American people to wear masks which, IMHO, is so detrimental to getting control over this raging virus.

The decision to not recommend mask wearing is very unpopular with me. Wearing a mask or not wearing a mask is a matter of public health. It has absolutely nothing to do with politics for me but it seems politics has become the divisive factor for many people.

Personally? I'm not afraid of anything and that very much includes this plannedemic. Been dead once before and it was really quite peaceful, often think I should have stayed that way. No bucket list since I was 24 when told I wouldn't see my 27th birthday. haha Boy did I prove all those 'experts' wrong
Agree or disagree. Does the subject of masks (or anything ftm) really need to be brought up dozens of times a day? The horse is dead, please just walk away and leave its poor mutilated carcass for the worms. People get it, you may or may not agree with the conclusions they came up with and that doesn't necessarily make anyone right or wrong. But they get it.

You do not have to click on any thread that mentions masks or any other subject for that matter. That is your totally your choice.

Therefore I cannot understand why government spends millions or billions of dollars to fight Covid, trillions to help with economy due to Covid and nothing for N 95 masks to be worn (and taught how to be worn) by the vulnerable, elderly population. Where is the logic in that?

So, please wear a mask year round. What happens every fall? The seasonal flu! Contagious! If you take your mask off ever, then you are a hypocrite. Plain and simple.

#1 & #2 tells me you don’t live in The Villages as you just described most Villagers and would not be able to go outside without breaking rules #1 & 2. # 3 shows you are obviously Healthy and in great shape. Unfortunately #’s 1-3 seems you place a high value on yourself and little on others. Who do you plan to hang around with when you become “old people”?

I too could go mask-less, look tougher/more manly and show I don't care about anyone else except myself, if I could just ensure that every single person that came within a 100 yards of me were tested every day...and they were made to wear masks.

Do some men really consider not wearing masks as manly? Not protecting vulnerable people as manly? Vanity as a manly trait? Obviously my definition of manly must be very different.
