Who is back at the villages gyms? Colony, seabreeze , etc. What do u think? Equipment close to each other and never see staff wiping down anything?

I've been back twice to Colony gym. The wiping down of equipment is left up to us as far as I can see. Maybe the equipment is wiped down at the end of each day by the staff but I'm not sure. There is more hand sanitizer around so that is a plus.

I still don't feel comfortable in the gym and will probably continue to do more working out at home. Just purchased free weights in Target to do upper body work outs. I have ankle weights and have been using those for lower body work outs.

Back to the gym......One story........I was working out on the bench and a gentleman stood right next to the bench to work with free weights. I immediately got up and moved over to the other bench which was empty and further away from where this guy decided to stand. He could have easily stood at least 6" away from me but he didn't. This social distancing is up to us and it can not be guaranteed to be adhered to when people don't have any idea what 6" is or just refuse to abide by the guidelines. I didn't say anything to this guy and I have a feeling he had no clue why I got up and moved.

As for the machines, they are closer than 6' apart so there is no proper distancing if someone decides to work out next to a machine you happen to be on. Masks are not required so universal masking is not going to happen.

This is why I will be doing more workouts at home. It is safer and I feel more comfortable not having to dodge people that do not adhere to guidelines.

I worked at one of The Villages gyms. I left because I did not feel comfortable working there. They were not protecting us enough IMHO. I also have a membership with MVP and I will not be returning any time soon. I now do my workouts at home. YouTube is my lifesaver.

I felt the same. No social distancing. machines on top of each other. I feel every other should be XX OFF and staff should be wiping down instead of sitting behind desks

If I am using the equipment I feel it is my responsibility to wipe down the equipment before and after I use it. I believe that is the protocol at any gym. Why would I expect anyone else to protect me.

Just returned from colony. EMPLOYEE sitting behind desk reading a book. I WOULD EXPECT the same caution to be exercised as if in a restaurant but probably More in this atmosphere. no reason they cant hire one additional employee to wipe down machines during Covid. Take extra precautions. Why you ask? Because I pay a few Hundred a yr for membership, that's why. Also hand SANITIZER was almost gone which i told him but he continued on reading a book. And i cannot exercise at home because i need the machines and dont have an extra bdrm to turn into a gym

The Villages “gyms” aren’t gyms.

Why don’t you go to MVP at Brownwood, they will give you a trial (3 days or so). Compare and see how you feel.

MVP is slowly ramping up hours and classes.

Here is a link to how they are handling the safety issues that concern you.

I've always been a gym rat so I belonged to MVP also. Right now I'm paid up for a yr at the villages gyms

We belong to the Villages Fitness Centers. We are now at a summer home in a rural area where there is a Planet Fitness. Ten dollars pp per month. The facility is at least 10 times bigger. Every other elliptical and treadmill is roped off for social distancing. All staff wear masks. We wipe down equipment before and after use with their disinfectant and wipes. Hand sanitizer readily available. Contactless signin. Most equipment distanced. They are doing a really good job.

Ok but how does that help us villagers?
