At first Bonifay was exercising good social distancing practices, especially at the bar. That soon went south with barstools absolutely jammed up against each other. It's disappointing Fred K. allows or orders this. I'm not surprised at this report, but I can't verify it. If true, it will become public. Employees are subject to bad Covid practices as are customers.

I read on Next Door Neighbor that an employee in the golf shop tested positive the other day. If that’s true why isn’t there an announcement in the paper or some type of media that if you were in the golf shop between certain dates that you may have come in contact. I’m just going by what I read on Next Door Neighbor. Have nothing to confirm that.

Not good news for sure if it is true. If it is, they need to let people know! If you read my post from a couple of days ago the golf shop employees checking people in at Havana and Evans Prarie were not wearing masks. These employees expose themselves to hundreds of people a day checking in for golf and shopping. They are in turn potentially exposing us. I totally don’t understand why they moved the golf check in and payment back into the club houses where you have to stand in line with others to check in who are also not wearing masks. The championship courses took many more safety precautions when the numbers of Covid were much lower than they are now!

No, but Fred K has a responsibility to keep up social distancing and all the other guidelines that allowed him to open his restaurant back up.
If the customers are too close together, Fred K should make them move.

All the reopenings are not a good idea. Golf was safe when golf was the only thing open at the country clubs and it was cashless and everyone had to check in at the starters booth and only one person was allowed per cart. Opening the pro shops, bars, restaurants, etc... was basically opening a big a$$ can of Covid worms. And now they plan to open the town squares. Bad idea.

Even though signs are posted at the doors of the pro shops "recommending" masks, I haven't seen more than a handful of staff at the counters of at least 8 courses...wearing masks.
Exactly how does one even start...explaining that? :ohdear:
At least most have the marking on the floors for distancing (including the starter shacks), but the closest you are forced to get to anyone...is when paying or checking in (pro shop/starter).

So? It’s a virus just like a cold or the flu and you can’t hide from it. Your either going to get it or you won’t. You’ll either get over it or you won’t. It’s time people started dealing with that reality. The mortality rate is no worse than the flu. Anyone that is still paranoid needs to just stay home!

It’s truly sad that some people refuse to make inconveniently small sacrifices so that those who are at risk for their lives due to preexisting health issues don’t have to self imprison themselves.
They either still don’t understand that they should
wear masks to be responsible for the lives of others or they simply don’t care for their fellow citizens. Whichever, they certainly can’t deny that they know it helps stop the spread!

Sure the cases of virus is going up, with the numbers of people being tested it had to happen . The big question are they systematic ,probably not everyone needs to protect themselves if concerned. Not spread I heard rumors about this place or that place or so and so didn’t wear a mask . All have free will do what you can to protect yourself.

We all know that the virus isn't going away any too soon. Safe practices have to be followed. I'd like to see all staff in TV to be required to wear masks no matter where they work. Patrons should wear masks to protect themselves and others also. It's the best way to help keep the virus under control.

The people who have died are 124,415 after only 4 months. There were 80,000 people who died from the flu all of last year! It is more contagious even from people with no symptoms and more lethal! With the flu people have a chance to get a vaccine and there is treatment. We may have some immunity to it but not to this virus as it is new! We don’t even know the long term effects and it can affect other organs and cause strokes and heart attacks. Most people who live here are in the high risk category as all over the age of 50 and most have some underlying condition.

The “You are Paranoid if you wear a Mask” club members are going to be the cause of everything shutting down again. It is not hard to wear a mask and take precautions. What is hard for some is the adult peer pressure to not wear a mask. This is not high school and this is NOT the flu. The flu has not required the whole world to shut down in order to maintain said mortality rate. And healthcare workers and other essentials cannot choose to stay home.

There were one or two golf shop employees who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. The golf shop was closed on Wednesday afternoon with a sign posted "Closed for Deep Cleaning". A phone call to the shop on Thursday was first a denial that they had been closed, but realizing they had been caught the employee stated that any questions regarding COVID-19 had to be directed to Mr. David Williams at 352-504-2196. As of this morning, Mr. Williams has chosen not to respond to those questions.
Fred is not involved in this as it is a golf shop issue.
The Villages should be out in front of this situation and be advising people, through a variety of media, that if they were in the Bonifay golf shop during the 24 hours ending June 24 at 6 PM they may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Their failure to do so is an injustice to all who live in the Villages. Let's see what they have to say.
And if you were in the Bonifay Golf Shop on June 24 and are diagnosed with COVID-19 over the next 10 days, this may be how you were infected. In addition, if you are infected, all of the people you have contact with may become infected.

Covid 19 may not be any WORSE than getting polio or so-called Spanish Flu, but it certainly isn't any better.
IMHO, the number of deaths from any "normal" flu during the incubation season of Winter, (which would occur from Sept or Oct. through April or May) that's 8 months at most... would average out to around 40,000 deaths in the USA.
Since around January 2020 till now, (which is the middle of the flu season in the US, and it's been 5 months), there have been at LEAST 122,000 deaths. That's about 3 X more. To say that THIS flu is very virulent is an understatement!
Safety is in the MASK, my forum friends.

LOL! people will do what they believe, as we all have different concepts of risk and levels of risk tolerance. To think that a very infectious airborne virus for which there is questionable human protection, is going to be stopped by information and voluntary adoption of protective gear, is a little bit too hopeful. CoachK, my wife, counts the dead and reviews them on a daily basis for proper systemic reporting and regulatory reporting. After telling one person while golfing, the person commented that "so it isn't a hoax then." This response is from a low information person. I witnessed another person who got very offended when a long time friend wore a mask in her presence. Again, mis placed attribution and risk assessment instead of assigning personal responsibility for the choice. People who don't wear masks over their noses, from which most of the air is exhaled indoors, is low information or darwin poor risk assessor.
We are on our second week here, getting warranty work done, and making a few improvements. We are leaving sooner to go back to a state with more healthcare availability in case we make a mistake in our risk assessment. In case we do get the virus, we want sufficient health care availability to avoid the risk of having an insufficient health care system, which may mean NO healthcare at all.
Risk comes in many forms, not all the same, some directly related, some not directly related. Good luck to everyone, low or high information, because the virus does not discriminate. But just remember a few statistics:
As the virus spreads, the median and average age of the infected will approach the median and average age of the surrounding population. The fact that the most vulnerable got hit first was a natural easy target for the virus. The death rate from the virus is actually higher than reported, because deaths from virus induced blood clot related heart attacks and strokes may not be properly attributed because of incomplete information, and traditional reporting. People have gone to hospitals, tested positive, showed no signs of distress and subsequently found dead at home. A hospital may not report that death as virus related as it was not at the hospital, and up to the medical examiner to assign a cause of death. So the stats are better than rumors, but don't be mislead that the stats are perfect. You can still end up dead with stats on your side for survival, you just misjudged your own personal risk.
good luck all

I have a very simple way of letting it be known that you require to be serviced by a person also wearing a mask. It is so simple. Raise your voice stand away from the counter give your name your tee time and say I'm here to pay but will only give my credit card and sign when a representative on the other side of the counter is following the CDC recommendations with social distancing and wearing a face mask. Stand there and keep repeating this until the correct action is taken.

COVID19 is different from the flu in that there is no vaccine. Please share the source of you claim that it is no more dangerous than the flu, as that seems to be refuted by the reputable sources I checked, such as Coronavirus Disease 2019 vs. the Flu | Johns Hopkins Medicine (https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu?amp=true)

Claim
An OSHA-certified official has claimed that the use of facial coverings to stop the spread of COVID-19 is "worse" than wearing nothing.
Rating = Not True
The most blatantly false segment in the text deals with cloth masks:
The “certified friend’s” claim has also been rebutted by not only the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC) but by other medical professionals as well.
The meme’s claims regarding the use of N95 masks — a type of respirator that multiple agencies have asked be reserved for medical professionals — also fail to appear on the OSHA website.

Thank you so much!!!! I am a healthcare professional and I try to tell people this as well and all I get are dirty looks and attacks and accused of not caring. Masks DON’T work! Wash your hands, cough and sneeze into your arm/shoulder and keep your distance!!!
Really? Health care professional and you think masks don't reduce risk?
Where do you work so I can stay away...

I want to get back to Bonifay golf shop. I did hear that there was one person who worked in the golf shop who tested positive.
I played golf at Bonifay on Wed. morning. My question is... even if the person who tested positive for COVID 19 wasn't working by Wed., have they tested all the workers who worked with the infected employee to see if they have COVID-19? I'm a little surprised that anyone who worked with the infected employee wasn't told to quarantine for 14 days.

I’ve had the flu 3 times and I had Covid. I would take the flu any day. I have no underlying health issues and this virus kicked my butt. My husband almost took me to the hospital twice because I could barely breath walking up a flight of stairs. So many different symptoms. I started with a dry cough that lasted 5 weeks and I also lost my taste and smell. This all started March 19 after getting together with my nurse friends for St Paddy’s with 8 of us. All but 2 of us tested positive. To this day my taste and smell are diminished and I still get a little winded on exertion. I’m just saying that this is more serious than the flu although I know some people are asymptotic. Wearing a mask and just being careful is just being a little inconvenienced because I don’t wish this on anyone. Our numbers are finally coming down in NY but I know many people who did not make it. I see Florida is ramping up. I love TV and want everyone to be safe and smart about social distancing, washing hands and wearing masks.

When I wear a mask in public:
I want you to know that I am educated enough to know that I can be an asymptomatic carrier and still give you the virus.
No, I don't ′′ live in fear ′′ of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, and not the problem.
I don't feel like -"the government is controlling me". I feel like an adult contributing to security in our society and I want to teach others the same thing.
If we could all live out of consideration for others, the whole world would be a much better place.
wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, silly or even ′′ controlled ". it makes me considerate.
When you think about your looks, your discomfort, or the opinion you have for others, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparents, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - laid under the ventilator, alone without you or any Another family member is licensed by their bed.
Ask yourself if you could help them a little by wearing a mask.

Here in The Villages, we do not know anyone who has died from the Coronavirus.
Once we "know many people who did not make it", then we will agree that "Florida is ramping up" to be equally as bad as New York.

How many of you know someone in the Villages that has had or currently has Covid? It seems we can’t get accurate numbers of Villagers and I haven’t heard of anyone who knows anyone that has it.

It is simple really. Eat at home. I stick my neck out to all of those who must have terrifically superior yumminess to survive.
Here are my suggestions. Simple meals, baked fish or sauteed chicken, scrambled eggs, simple salads.....a piece of fruit, buy some frozen entrees....there are some VERY good ones. Try a few. Things like Stouffers Lasagna, Michaelangelo's Chicken Piccata, Walmart's Chicken and Dressing. (try it, don't be a snob)
I hate to see our businesses fail but I hate to see older people at risk catching a disease that could kill them.

Why aren't they all testing there employees at the least by temperatures.
Who knows? Who cares?
You should assume every other human carries the virus and take measures to protect yourself.

Who knows? Who cares? Is on of the most calluse statements I've heard. No matter your political views or the protective measures you take it can affect you or your loved ones. Just relax once and your life could be changed for ever. Transparency is always going to be the best medicine.

There is roughly a two week lag time from infection to hospitalization, then roughly another two weeks from hospitalization to death. By the time you notice you have several deaths, it's too late. Ask Arizona. Ask Texas. 8,900 people tested positive in Florida on Friday. CDC estimates 10X more are infected than test positive, so 89,000. One day. This means there are hundreds of thousands infected in Florida right now. Act accordingly, there are a hell of a lot of people walking around in Florida with COVID right now.
