On another site they are saying that the Hacienda Pool is drained, all the chairs are gone at the pool. Also there is a big construction equipment there in the parking lot. Does anyone have information on what is going on there?

This is cut and pasted from the not to mention on line news source.

The Villages Developer has obtained a demolition permit for the Hacienda Hills Golf & Country Club site.

The permit was issued Monday for the demolition work to be performed by Global Contracting of Wildwood.

The news story has no details as to exactly what is to be demolished or if whatever is taken down will be replaced. Very little detail.

Here is hoping that whatever happens, at a minimum, there is no negative effect on the 27 hole championship golf course. At best, there will be a new and improved clubhouse and restaurant. Time will tell?

Gonna be the new Katie Belles

That would be interesting since the reason they said they were getting rid of Katie Belle's was because the Villages no longer needed it as an entertainment venue because there were so many other places providing entertainment now in The Villages.

Maybe a tear down and rebuild?

Hopefully build something with better acoustics. My musician friends refer to Hacienda Hills Country Club as "The Room from Hell".

And get someone in there that has a semblance of an idea how to manage a restaurant.

Anyone know what if anything will be built where they're demolishing the former restaurant, golf shop, ect.??
They have taped off the area and rumor has it that not only restaurant building, but also pool is being removed?

Per article in July 7 Daily Sun, they are clearing away the pool, pool bar, tennis courts, restaurant and pro shop, per Ryan McCabe, The Villages Operations manager.

I am holding out hope for the best, but good news usually flows very quickly and bad news seems to get buried. The lack of any news regarding plans to rebuild a new and better Pro Shop, restaurant, and pool is not a positive sign.

All they are saying is that it is "being cleared" and "it's outlived its useful life". I'm betting that whatever goes in there will be nothing like a country club restaurant or priority pool. It will be something the developer can make money on. I am a priority golf member whose priority pool membership is very important to me, and I live in the Hacienda Hills neighborhood. It's priority pool is the one I use. My priority membership fee is due by August first, and before I renew I will call the country club management office to see if the pool is being permanently removed. If they can't/won't answer my question, I won't renew.

It usually does. In my 18 years here new projects are announced when firm plans are in place. Why tell the world what you are going to do, before you finalize your plan?
Besides what difference does it make not knowing what will happen?

Not knowing what will happen at Hacienda Hills makes little difference to my lifestyle, as long as the Championship golf is not effected. However, people considering buying a pre-owned home in the area might want to know, as well as people living in the area considering a priority pool membership.

In my opinion, what ultimately happens at Hacienda Hills is important because it signals the developers willingness to maintain the existing lifestyle opportunities in aging areas of the Villages where they are no longer profiting from building new homes.

Someone told me that the villages is required to keep a certain number of pools, rec centers, country clubs etc. He heard there's going to be a restaurant, pool, etc, but not an upscale restaurant? Why are the village's powers that be keeping these plans a secret???

It's possible the plan has already been completely announced -- that demolition is everything that will be done, that nothing will be built on that site.

:what: Call the developer and offer to pay the property taxes and insurance...... maybe they will not tear it down. Who are we to tell anyone what to do with their property? Sumter Co. PA web site says the last tax bill was over $35,000 for a building the owners think has out lived it's useful life. If it were mine it would be on the ground already.

NONE of our business what they do with it !!!! :ho:

I understand everything at HHCC is being torn down, Tiki Bar, pool, restaurant, pro shop. What will happen to Men's Day and Ladies Day. I guess those will be gone also. You have taken away Silver Lake, Chula, El Santiago, Katie Belles, Church on the Square, half of Tierra Del Sol. What's next Savannah Center, We have been here 18 years and everything we brought for has been demolished.

Please please please let there be a rebuild of a Country Club !!!
Wouldn't it look a bit more on the bright side if the developer had (without getting getting tied to EXACT plans of course) given a little announcement and "hint" to keep the rumors and negatives down ? Something like: Villages administration announces beloved Hacienda club to be demolished, but excited to soon share plans for its' replacement ? Or, Demolition of one of The Villages oldest country clubs paves way for the exciting new facility of ________ (hopefully NOT another nursing home or commercial plaza ! ! )

You are so right..... LACK of open communication, middle of the night demolition equipment moved in, beautiful pool (that had some very nice recent upgrades and repairs) FILLED with rubble ! Don't think we can expect much in the way of positive communication. Why would an exciting story of anticipation, of the GOOD things to come, NOT have been a part of a media advance plan ? Just let the rumors fly, sadly, as usual !

So that means - there'll be parking and traffic for 300 residents of the apartments, PLUS parking and more traffic for anyone who chooses to enjoy those amenities, who don't live in the apartments.

Sounds like a cluster-you-know-what to me.

Really. Drive down to 466 and see the complex there and look at the parking lot and see how little activity there is coming and going. I am talking about the complex next to Bob Evans.

Doesn't look like anyone is fornicating anywhere in a cluster or a group or on a bandstand. Doesn't seem to be in an uproar. There are 300 units there.
