Hi everyone! I have a home in Orange Blossom Gardens, but I thought I had heard about the Villages building some 1/2-acre sites for people who want to keep horses. Did I make that up? Any tips for getting involved in the horse community here? I don't own one yet, but I would love to!

Yes they do have a village where you can have horses. Up to 4 I think. It’s off 42. Expensive If you are a resident you can drive back in there

Sharon, this is hose country and I bet there are places you can join that will make horses available for you to ride. Just do some google searching.

Besides, do you really want to own a horse? Do you know how to care for a horse? I mean, I enjoy playing golf, but I would not want to own a golf course and have to take care of it.

No place in The Villages but many in the surrounding area - especially as you go toward Ocala.

1/2 acre is not nearly enough for a horse. We figured at least 3 acres per horse when we owned them and we fed hay 7 months a year. I would plan on a 5 acre plot including the house.

The area is called Chatham Acres. There are 5 acre plots and you can build a Premier house and also a barn. I think there were 5 plot available when it opened but I heard there may be one or two left. It is on 42 and is part of the villages
