We are getting ready to buy a hone but was wondering what is open? I read on another thread that the pools are open. What is the status on Recreation centers, golf courses, restaurants, Theaters,Town center ? I’m sure we will spend the first few weeks getting home set up but what’s available after that? Thanks in advance.

pools and golf are open, restaurants are open with limited capacity.
We have been mostly staying home for past 3 months only going out to shop and go to pools and walking around neighborhood.
Thinking this is going to continue for rest of the year. Hoping I m wrong though

like most places around the country a lot has been shut down here....no movie theaters, no concerts, shows, etc. No nightly dancing at the squares....all the clubs have suspended their meetings.....there is golf, pickle ball and the pools are open (but going to the pool is among the top things one should avoid if you're trying to play it safe). Some restaurants are open. The local retail stores are open, grocery and drug stores are open, many of the churches are open....doctors, dentists, hair salons are open. I believe that the Farmer's Market on Saturday is now back on....no polo, no theme events at the squares or gatherings of any type
Bottom line, TV is like everywhere else...a lot has been cut back
now that doesn't mean that it won't all come back....once there's a vaccine

It’s not a party scene here at the moment. Maybe later in the year but not now. We’re trying to contain the numbers around here.

Disagree about the pool part. We have been going a couple of times a week to our neighborhood one and plenty of social distancing in the pool and lounge chairs. We are being very careful and feel comfortable in the pool.

I swim laps and will walk in the pool when waiting for a swim lane to open up. I feel very safe in The Villages Sports pool. It has been known from very early on that the virus is inactivated in properly treated pool water. As for social distancing, each swimmer has their own lane. When I walk in the pool, I do not walk next to anyone and chat. There are many that do that but that, to me, is not safe.
This is the information I found with a Google search........
Can the coronavirus disease spread through swimming pools?
There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.

All the restaurants are open, some have a limited menu and most are social distancing. We have been going out to eat 3 times a week, No problems. Sorry, but I refuse to become a recluse. The restaurants, however, are hurting, so if you want to see them stay in business, then you really should support them, even if you take out. Just my opinion, and no, I am not in the restaurant business.

I agree and do share your concern for pool walkers/talkers. At Rohan, these folks wear masks but not at Colony nor Laurel Manor. Most of the time, they are 3 or 4 feet apart, sometimes less, talking and laughing. I think they think they’re safe because they’re in water. The droplets are suspended several feet above the water.

I certainly don't take everything that I see on the internet as gospel...however I have seen a couple of lists recently that talk about the risks associated with various activities during this covid-19 era...it's data. Everyone has to make up there own mind regarding what risks they're willing to take
'going to a public pool' was listed as a 7 out of 10 on two different lists (granted a neighborhood pool in TV is totally different from a public city pool, which is what I would expect the author was referencing)....A neighborhood pool in TV would score lower on the risk scale...unfortunately I don't have the original source to share
Going to the grocery store was about a 4 out of 10
movie theaters about a 7 out of 10
restaurants (indoor seating) I believe was a 7 out of 10...(outdoor seating) a 4 out of ten
...and the list went on
we haven't gone to our pool since this all began...when we did it was usually during the ''off hours" and social distancing was in play merely because there was hardly anyone else there LOL

You might want to check the District web site since they have what is available posted and ask for notifications so when things change you will know.

In our case the pool has a general listed capacity of 52.
The most we have seen there is about 10 people and they are nicely spread apart even when having conversations. The first time there we brought our masks and were surprised nobody was wearing one.
After observing for awhile decided we were ok with not wearing one as long as we kept our distance.
My wife has been taking swimming lessons in the Everglades and very few people are in that pool early in the morning.
We have not tried other pools in the past few months.
While we are at it the only other things we do are go grocery shopping (always with a mask) and walk around our neighborhood and will say the folks here have been great about social distancing.
