You may want to consider mulch as an alternative to rocks. A friend of mine went to a gardening workshop here and the presenter said mulch is healthier for the plants. Rocks heat up the soil during the summer. Mulch also keeps weeds away as well as rocks.

We have a CYV, we converted from the Pine Straw We have a larger then normal lot cause we are on a dead-end. Had 7 palms put in (5 queen, 1 canary, 1 Euro) and some other plantings to include several bottlebrush. Had all rock put down, and paver borders. Cost was $5,000. It also included redoing our irrigation to fit the new landscaping. Done last Oct.
I don't recommend pine bark/mulch, etc. It will blow and float away! It also has to be replaced/added to annually. We had at our last house and learned, never again.
