There are a lot of places to buy Wine and spirits here in the Villages. I like great service, friendly faces, good prices, and even delivery. Who is your favorite considering what I've mentioned?

We buy our wine from Aldi's.

Other than friendly when ringing up our order that is about it. We do enjoy their moscatos and our daughter likes their reds.

Understand Total Wine will be opening here soon but not very familiar with the chain.

We would love to buy more from Trader Joes but apparently closest store is over an hour away.

I'll buy spirits it a Walgreens, Publix or ABC...they're usually all the same price

but when it comes to wines, we order the specific wines that we enjoy online from: 'wine.com' and 'Gambino Winery' in Sicily... occasionally we'll order from 'getwinesonline.com' if wine.com doesn't carry a specific vintage that we're looking for.

the wine arrives quickly via UPS or FedEx

Now when "Total Wine" finally opens near TV we'll shop there for wines (and the spirits) as they offer a nice variety, and we'll still order from Wine.com and Gambino

ABC has a very good selection of quality wines. I prefer Total Wine which will be opening on 441 in Lady Lake. Excellent wine, beer and spirit selections.

Ours comes from wineries, when release dates allow. Everyday wine can be A Sterling cab.
We have a wine system that allows us to keep 4 bottles of wine for months after open. But they never last that long

If you;re looking for the equivalent of Trader Joe's 2 Buck Chuck, really anyplace will do. You'll see jug wines and BOGOs for ten bucks all over the place. I find ABC marginally better, but the staff not very friendly or helpful (speaking of the one on 466A Tradewinds). I've shopped a small independent store .. Kindred Spirits.. but I must emphasize small.

Absent any small specialty store that can obtain hard to find wines and spirits, I am a proponent of Total Wine and look forward to their opening on 441/27. I shopped Total Wine extensively in Atlanta, and have taken an easy ride to the Millenial Mall in Orlando twice so far (it;s right around the corner from Costco, so I kill two birds with one stone (drive)). They have great selections of domestic, French and italian Wines, and some decent ones from South America, Spain and other countries as well. Regarding spirits, the staff is knowledgeable and the selection much better than the above locals. A wide range of price points for bourbons, tequilas, vodka and scotch .. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but they have a long aisle dedicated to craft beers, with many available in quantities of one .. I think it will do well here.

Since the time Total Wines was highly recommended to me by several people, I occasionally buy online and go pick up at Daytona Beach. It is an amazing store and I usually end up walking out with more than I ordered. I am looking forward to them opening up here. But I also love the local ABC liquors. They have been consistently helpful throughout the 15 years we have been here, both in recommending wines they thought we might like, and getting us wines they didn’t have in stock right now. I will continue to support both stores.

Walmart would be your next option.

I think Publix pricing is high

Total Wine is a great store once it opens, huge selection, samplings and excellent prices. For hard liquor hard to beat Sams liquor store and the wine selection inside the main store is very good !

In NY (Queens), the local liquor store lobby put the kibosh on a Total Wines store that was planning on opening in an empty Toys R Us store location.

Lots of people were looking forward to Total Wines coming in for the variety and pricing, but the liquor stores raised a stink and the politicians who had originally approved of it turned around and squashed it.

Florida is a bit different, of course, with wine sold in grocery stores. That doesn't happen in NY. As a matter of fact, even the Total Wines store that was hoping to open couldn't sell beer and wine in the same location. A separate store (and license) would have been needed for the beer.

can't wait for Total Wine to open. I currently buy different wines at different stores, Winn Dixie and Sam's mostly.

Sam's has a limited, but reasonably priced, selection of wines and beer. Same for their liqour store. We sometimes shop ABC at both locations as one carries different wines from the other. Our favorite wine store is total wine where they have a fantastic selection wines. However, that currently requires a trip to Orlando's Millinean Mall area. It is relatively easy to get to off the turnpike and I-4. Soon we'll have our own store over by Miller Ale and we can't wait. For example, I love Angeline Pinot Noir & Cabernet which is are fantastic California wines that you can only find at Total Wine.

One of the highest rated wine clubs (delivers by FEDEX) is First Leaf - Firstleaf.com. I've been very happy with their selection. You rate your wines so that they can modify your next shipment to suit.

If you think the beer selection is limited today, you should have seen it here in 2005. In addition to Bud, Busch, Miller, Coors, and Yuengling, there was Sam Adams—if you searched. There were no craft beers and no IPA’s. As time went by, ABC added new labels and Publix caught up. The older generation was reluctant to give up the beers they’d grown up with.

BTW, The Walgreens Drug store in Deaton Plaza also has a liquor store. Their selection doesn’t compare with ABC, but their prices are better than Publix Liquor, and Walmart’s Liquor stores. And I like to tell my wife, if Walgreens sells it, it must be healthy. Kidding of course, they used to sell cigarettes.

I buy wine at ABC and the Farm Market has some good choices however when you find one you like go back a purchase it as the selection changes over time. They don’t always restock the same wines.

If some one could tell me where I can find Frogs Leap Cab in Florida I’d really appreciate it.

Good news. They’re opening a TOTAL WINE AND MORE store behind Miller’s Ale House. Have been going to the Orlando Total Wine to get it. Prices are below others, too. Signs are up and they are hiring. Size of Publix. Say it would take 25 years to drink a different wine from their store every day. Also have rows of craft beer and liquor.

We enjoyed Total Wine when we lived in Gainesville, but also shopped ABC, as we do here. I like being able to order on line and they bring it out to my car and load it in the rear! My sister buys the wines from Trader Joes. Rhere is one in Gainesville...not sure about Ocala.

Kindred Spirits in La Plaza Grande near Publix seems to have the lowest prices on booze. Not a huge wine or beer selection. I have heard that they supply the Country Clubs in The Villages with their liquor.

Wine and beer are a personal choice. Some only want to spend a few dollars, others had climate controlled wine cellars in their homes, spend more for investing, and personal consumption. Usually buying at places that have a sommelier on staff. We do go to the Wine Room in Winter Park often, since they have close to 100 wines by the ounce to taste.

While most of our wine comes direct, Total wine has a good selection, with decent prices when buying a bottle or two.

So you have never been to The Wine Room. Clientele is those who want to buy moderate to high end wines, but want to make sure they will love the wine.

You purchase a card with a dollar amount. Then use the card to buy an ounce or more of close to 100 wines, give or take the week. They also have small plates to try with wine to help with your selection. Many go there to try expensive wine, that would not be possible in every day life.

Very popular with the over 500 sommeliers that are in Florida keeping up their skill levels, and getting ready for their next exam.

We have spent many a weekend there while other half was in study mode for next exam. Since they smell, swirl, then spit, one never needs a DD. It’s very laid back, with special wine dinners, and popular vintners teaching small classes. Or just a place to have a really nice glass of wine.
