I had this problem and it turned out to be Rats in the attic.

They got in from 2 small openings in the eves.

After checking around I went with " Truly Nolen " Pest Control.

They went into the attic laid traps, inspected the whole roof, sealed off the openings, and solved the problem.

By the way most pest control companies leave baited traps outside, which really don't address the problem. The vermin can take the bait into the attic and die which is not good.

We also had a varmint living in membrane of Lanai. Called Trapper King and they came out, set up traps and closed that little stinker squirrel's hole up. That was over a year ago. No problem since. Highly recommend Trapper King Animal Removal, 888-991-5464

They did her work and removing the squirrels from my roof interior. And they also closed up a few holes they were very small but that's how they get in. I also suggest you walk around your property and see if there are any trees with limbs that are close to the roof

Go to Rural King and get a medium size critter trap and put a small dish or jar lid filled with a small amount of black sunflower seeds. If I catch a rat, I just drown them then remove from cage but if I get a squirrel or rabbit I put it in my car and drive it out to a deserted area and set them free because I don’t like to kill them but you can do what your own conscience allows. Don’t be surprised if you catch 10, 20, or more right away. If they get into your attic you will have big trouble including chewing wires and lots more squirrels!!!

We used Massey, just because they were here, noticed a place where rodents could be entering, and went into the attic and found evidence. Also found 10 entry points (we had just recently purchased this house. I think Terminex handles this as well. My neighbors plan to buy their own traps (large black plastic boxes) and poison. Not sure what they plan to do about eliminating the problem. I would suggest getting estimates. It wasn't cheap, but, we no longer have the problem.

Recently had a neighbor that heard 'scratching' noises in wall; occurred both at night and during daylight. Pulled back siding and razed 20-30 bats. Found out since that it's not that unusual.
