Can anyone recommend a plumber or qualified handyman to replace my water gas heater in a patio villa and what a fair cost for this would be. Thank you

If you have gas, call TECO and they will set you up with someone to install it and you can spread payment over 60 months. I did two years ago and it worked out good. No one oversells you. Was $600 two years ago ($10 a month with no interest) .

The cost of a 40 gallon hot water tank and the installation labor would be the same for a patio villa, or a designer home. The cost variables are electric vs gas, and the warranty period, 7 vs 10 years. Frequently, the utility companies offer a special discounted price including installation or a rebate.

Any plumber can do it. I would get at least two or three quotes from licensed plumbers. Kiley and Sons or Mike Scott are two good ones. I wouldn't use a handyman for a water heater. If you don't know the plumber, get his plumbing license number and look it up on the Florida license lookup website. You can also buy a water heater at Lowes or Home Depot, but, if they install it, I would insist on a licensed plumber.

Also, if you don't have an expansion tank, you should definitely get one installed to maintain a constant and safe water pressure in your house. They are required by code, but some plumbers will not install one if you don't already have one. And, don't let them tell you that the relief valve does the same thing.

Check TECO. They often have great deals.

Another vote for TECO. They sub installation to very capable, polite, efficient plumbing companies.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It was very helpful I decided to go with TECO. Seems to be the best option. The cost has gone up, it's $ 959 plus $ 45 for the expansion tank, payable over 5 years on the gas bill at $15.99 per month.
