BE ALERT . . . . . .
From a friend:
Please pass this around to all your friends who might use 466-A coming from or going to Wildwood.
On the evening of August 4th, I received a speeding ticket on 466A just inside the construction area. There is now a short stretch of road between Wildwood and The Villages, approximately 368 feet long directly in front of the new County Seat building, that has recently been reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph. The change is very poorly announced, two signs a short distance apart, no lights or flashers of any kind. The signs were easily missed by me, after dark.
This was sent to me in an email by a good friend. I thought I would share.
I do understand the importance of safe driving in a construction zone (I was doing 41 mph in what I thought was a 35 mph zone), but I feel that this is a speed trap that could affect many people due to the circumstances. I was charged $256.00, even though my fine was not doubled due to the hour. There were no workers or other traffic present. When questioned about the change, the officer said that there were 5 signs notifying drivers of the reduced speed and that it had been in effect for approximately six weeks (there is only one sign positioned within feet of the notification that the
speed limit is reduced). I was visiting The Villages two weeks ago and did not notice the change. I found everyone that I have spoken to in The Villages and surrounding area to be unaware of the change.
Please pass this information along, if you wouldn't mind. Either through word of mouth or better signage, hopefully I can prevent this from happening to others. Thank you for your time and drive carefully!
