I went shopping today in The Villages Public's at Southern trace. While getting meet at the deli two gentlemen walked by me without masks and since I made a comment to one of them there was no oh I have a medical condition or other problems. I reported this to the manager, (whose name was Alicia). She said thank you for bringing it to our attention. She then said I will remind them to bring their masks. I then remarked don't remind them throw them out. She said well they may have medical issues. I said, since I challenge one of the men and he didn't say anything I don't think they got medical issues. She again said thank you for bringing this to our attention. As I was moving to the front of the store to check out later one of the individuals walked right in front of Alisha the manager; she said, nothing. I said the individual just walked in front of you why did you do something. She said thank you for bringing this to our attention. If Publix isn't going to fulfill their requirement to us on their signs requiring mask be worn they shouldn't posted. Also, they should not advertise it. So, if you are shopping at Publix watch out there is a lot of people not wearing masks and they are not going to require then to wear the mask; regardless of the signs they put in the front of the store. I have no problem with individuals who have a valid medical reason for not wearing masks. However, they should have a letter from their doctor. If I had a medical condition requiring I could not wear a mask; I would have a letter from my doctor. It wouldn't be hard to get. Publix is just not going to honor their advertisement of requiring masks. I thought the people of the villages would like to know.

I shop at various Publixes including the Southern Trace Shopping Center one and most of the people there do wear masks. A few do not.
At Walmart a few weeks ago I took my mask off when going to the bathroom. I needed to spit and get some air. No one else was in there. I forgot to put it back on and had my long pants on as I had donated platelets earlier in the day and was coming from One Blood. The mask I had must have fallen off after I had detached it from one ear. Moreover, I did not carry an extra mask in my long pants. When wearing my shorts I usually keep a back-up mask in a pocket.
I ended up wrapping the medical tape they had put on me at One Blood around my mouth and looking very foolish. Before that, I did look around to see if anyone else was not wearing a mask at Walmart and there were a few people without one.

I read somewhere that Walmart is telling their employees not to confront these maskless individuals as there have been too many violent reactions in some of their stores. Most follow the rules.

I have found the same thing at the Publix in Lake Denton and the Winn Dixie in Lake Sumter. Both stores have signs posted that masks are required but I have seen non mask wearers at both each time I have gone in. The check out gal at Winn Dixie said she was told she could not say anything to anyone about wearing a mask! There was an entire family at Winn Dixie (Burnsed) the other day non of which had masks on (I doubt the entire family all had medical issues) and the manager walked right by them without saying anything.
I’m guessing that the crazy and violent incidents and reactions that have happened around the country by non mask wearers when they have simply been asked to put on a mask has made it dangerous and unsafe for employees to even approach someone and make a simple request to don a mask for the safety and health of those around them.
There have been quite a few articles published that state if you can’t wear a mask they said you are probably not wearing it correctly. “There are no medical conditions that preclude someone from wearing a simple surgical face mask because they have no effect on the respiratory mechanics.”
One doctor said, “If your respiratory status is truly that tenuous that you can’t breathe through a cloth face- covering, you should stay home and not expose yourself to any risk.” If you are truly that fragile, a COVID-19 infection could be a death sentence.”
I feel bad for all the establishments that are trying to keep their employees and us safe but have to deal with the attitudes of those people that continue to refuse to follow the rules and continue to do as they darn well please.
By the way, wearing the mask below your nose or as a “chin guard” does not count as having a mask on!

Went to Lowes last week to bring some (incorrect size) plumbing fittings back and get the correct ones. My wife dropped me off at Lowes and drove to Aldis while I shopped.
I walked into the Returns area - three people ahead of me - saw their masks, and thought Oh SHXT!, forgot mine in the glovebox. I felt so weird, almost nude.... Then I saw a sign by the desks stating masks are required, and one would be supplied per customer if needed. Got to the desk, asked for a mask, and she passed one to me.
I felt so relieved, and finished my shopping at Lowes and walked to Aldis to meet wifey. SO HAPPY that Lowes supplied one for me...

Employees are not going risk their personal safety ejecting someone for not wearing a mask and I don’t blame them. Even the CDC is warning businesses not to argue or confront non-mask wearing customers.
Fuss at the corporation, not the store staff, if it’s that big of a deal to you. Corporations aren’t going to throw them out though. It comes down to money and potential liability for them if something goes wrong.

Nice post as you make some good points. My wife and I took our grandson out to eat last night. Amazing, everyone was wearing a mask. As we walked through the interior of the restaurant to get to the patio, everyone inside was also wearing a mask. If this behavior happened a few months ago, many more lives would have been saved.

Stores are trying to have their cake and eat it too. If masks are required, then the rule should be enforced, especially if a customer complains. A customer who complains should have more rights than the person breaking the rule. If there is no enforcement, then they cannot claim that masks are required. The store is violating their own policy. If masks are necessary to protect shoppers, people with a medical condition should be told to use delivery or curbside pickup, but to leave the store. I don't like wishy-washy policies. Our country is becoming a bunch of wimps.

Another first post for someone who registered many years ago. No problem with people not wearing them for medical reasons, yet you confronted them and then the employee(s) more than once?
You don't know if they have a medical issue, and quite frankly it isn't your business.
Live your life and do as you see fit, but multiple confrontations with strangers and store personnel are probably only going to add to your agitation. Chill out and enjoy life!
It is your business, it maybe your life. If a person can’t wear a mask for medical or political reasons they need to use curbside pick up. Under no circumstances is it ok to endanger everyone else.

That sounds great on paper but it's not legally enforceable. There is no law in Florida mandating the use of masks inside businesses. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the Governor.
As long as it is not against the law, there will be people who refuse to obey store policies. There'll be people who refuse to obey store policies even when there IS a law against their behavior. In those cases, the management calls the police.
Store managers should not have to put their lives at risk to enforce a store policy. At the present time, there is SO much division about EVERYTHING in this country, that someone just looking at someone else can trigger a shooting.
The point of saying that masks are required, is to INCREASE the number of people wearing masks in the store. That has worked. It is absolutely successful. There are still some people who don't wear masks in the store. But the number of people who DON'T wear them has gone down significantly.
What's even better, is that more and more people are starting to give those unmasked people "the look." You know that look - the one of disapproval. In other words - wearing a mask has become normalized, and NOT wearing one has become villainized.
Peer pressure is doing its job. And the store is reinforcing that by having the policy in the first place.
Also, regarding the OP: there aren't a "lot" of people not wearing masks in Publix. The OP witnessed TWO people not wearing masks at one Publix. Two out of over a hundred people who came and went in whichever hour that customer was in the store. Two out of over a hundred is not "a lot." It's not even "many." Or "several." Think about that. Two - is not even enough to qualify as "a few."
Also, to the OP - you didn't follow those gentlemen around - and if you had, I would've expected someone to call the police and accuse you of stalking them. If you had, you might have discovered that the manager DID talk to them, and they DID say they had a medical excuse. And - according to the law - there is absolutely nothing can do about that. Once they say they have a medical excuse, that's the end of the discussion.
Relax, keep your distance from people who aren't wearing masks, and try not to stress over something you can't control.

So, here is the thing. I read on the Publix.com website that, as of July 21, all customers are required to wear a mask in their stores. So, I go to Publix expecting all customers to be wearing a mask for my protection. But, I see that some people are not wearing a mask. I tell the manager, who says that they aren't actually required to wear masks, they have no enforcement policy, and he won't do anything about it. So, what does "required" mean? In my opinion, Publix is lying to me. Publix should change their website to say that, we would like to require our customers to wear a mask, but we are afraid to tell them that to their face, so please wear a mask when you come to our store. But, if you don't, you should know that we are too wimpy and cowardly to enforce our policy, so you will be able to get away without wearing a mask. And, we don't really care what other customers think about it. We are just trying to make a profit anyway we can, even if it means that we tell lies on our website.

We need mask police on the job! Maybe those social workers who will be working instead of policemen for certain calls could start off with this light duty assignment. After all not much to be worried about in public areas. Shouldn’t be much of a threat. When they see a violation, they could have backup to come for a witness (to prevent an escalation). They could carry a few extra mask in their pockets or purses and charge the violators a couple bucks for the cloth. If a violator refuses to pay for the mask then the mask police supervisors come and escort the intruder out the door. No gun to offend anyone, only walkie/talkies and mask required. O yes the mask police badge is a must. That way everyone will obey their commands without controversy. Please people wear the mask when within 6 ft of strangers in crowded places

"Publix is lying to me" is not an opinion. Either it's true, or it's not true. And I can tell you as a fact, it is not true. They aren't lying to you. They're telling you it's required. If someone complained to the STORE manager - not just an assistant or shift-manager or customer service - then I'm sure the STORE manager might be able to do something more than simply remind the customer that masks are required.
But none of the rest of us are authorized to take action. Publix is looking out for our safety as well as yours. And frankly I'm grateful that I'm not required to try and force a customer to either wear a mask or get out of the store. I don't want to have to defend myself from some freak who has already proven that he has no respect for me or my employer, by not abiding by the rules in the first place.

I disagree. If a company says they require something, but do no enforcement, they are lying. I have contacted the corporate office, and they say that they do nothing to enforce their mask policy. I have also personally talked to a store manager, and he said the same thing. So, in my opinion, it is not a requirement, it is a request. They should just be honest and say that.

Publix in Spanish Springs...people walk in with masks and then pull them down while shopping. I reported 3 people with pulled down masks to the manager, who was mostly unwilling to even listen to me...finally said he'd walk the aisles to check. My observation was he did not. I can't understand someone who wears a mask through the door only to pull it down when they think they've passed inspection. Good grief.

They do not legally have the right to make you wear a mask that is not law or mandated by the governor of our state. The sign in front of the store is a suggestion. I don’t know what you people do not get about that. So many sheep out there that just listen and do what they’re told without question. It’s pathetic

Publix is not the only store that does this, unfortunately. I’ve written to Aldi’s (and spoken to them) and Wal-Mart. Aldi’s response was that they can only do so much. IMHO their signs should just say ‘ Masks requested/required, but we won’t do anything if you don’t have one on!’

First of all let me remind you this is still the United States of America, also masks are not mandated by the governor of our state. Secondly, what I wear or do not wear in Publix or anywhere else is none of your business. If you had said something to me in Publix, I would’ve told you straight up to shut your mouth and mind your own business. I wear my mask in Publix , but there have been times I’ve gone in without one when I forgot it. I don’t know who the hell you think you are but you’re not in charge. Sick of the paranoia and sick of masks that do nothing anyway. Have your groceries delivered!

I see it coming.... Remember the days when anyone could smoke anywhere on an airplane? Then they made the smokers sit in back of the airplane. Then they banned smoking on air planes altogether, even the lavatories (which I agree with). Now masks are required for flying. Will this be the new norm? Yet, we have flown for many, many years without a mask.
There are many knowledgable, intellegent, qualified people out there that say wearing a mask has only a marginal benefit. A mask is no guarantee you will not get the flu. Your chances of getting the flu from contact is much greater than from the air you breath.
If you feel safer wearing a mask, then do so... or wait and vote for your favorite mask person on November 3rd. Also, if the "masked man" is elected, watch as your other personal freedoms continue to erode away.
Publix is a great store! I understand, for liability purposes, they "require" people to wear a mask. There is no federal or state law that requires wearing a mask, so enforcing "some peoples choice to wear a mask", is not up to the Publix police.

That’s ridiculous. I go in Villages restaurants all the time and people do not have their masks on because you cannot eat and drink with a mask on. They might wear them to walk in the door but then take them off as soon as they are seated. This whole thing has gotten totally bizarre and ridiculous. The CDC should just come out and be honest and tell everyone that these masks do nothing. And for a virus that is over 99% survivable, all this is totally unnecessary. The media has done a good job of turning so many people into paranoid idiots

Go on Publix website and file a report, it is great you have the Manager's name. They will do something about it. The same thing happened at a Publix in Miami , while I was visiting my Mother, an elder lady refused to wear mask and when it was brought to the attention of the Manager, he dismissed it saying "the lady comes in every day, we know her", WELL the rest of the customer don't know her and are all wearing masks and following the arrow signs on the floor, she should not e an exception. I went online, reported it and the Manager was fired.

The media has done a good job of turning so many people into paranoid idiots

maybe they forgot
we shopped at Publix today...my wife forgot to put a mask on....after shopping for 5 minutes, suddenly she realized she didn't have a mask on...I went out to the car and brought one in for her. No one made an issue of it
these things happen
I have forgotten to wear a mask on occasion, and have NOT been questioned, nor have I made the effort to retrieve a mask from my car.
Masks do nothing but reassure others that we are stepping in line with their unfounded beliefs. :ohdear:

Just like the one way aisles....people don't care and do what they want and are rude if you casually let them know the store has one way aisles (after she was snippy with me because I was exiting from the aisle in the middle of the aisle). One older guy with a mask reached right across me, under my arm that was reaching for something, touched me and didn't give a damn. Publix reaction: they can't police everyone. More like NO ONE! I did hear that they no longer have the one way aisles..... No signs if the carts are even disinfected anymore (except for the baskets). Wonder why people are turning to Amazon to get most of their needed supplies....

I shop at Walmart and Publix. I have seen many folks at both that are not wearing a mask. Doesn't matter to me. I wear one and if they don't, that's their problem. If you don't approve of the way they run their business, then don't shop there, for crying out loud. Besides, the so-called expert doctors on TV, including the Surgeon General state that you won't catch the virus from walking past someone. They all say that it takes a prolonged presence in close proximity to an INFECTED person to be at risk. Sure, I guess they could cough on you as you passed them, but how often does that happen and what is the chances that they are contagious?
I don't fault you all for being paranoid about your health, but take care of yourselves, don't rely on someone else to take care of you. Like I said, if you don't like how someone manages their business, then don't shop there. Publix is open to everyone, not just those that think they are entitled elitists from the Villages.

The mask rule is not legally enforceable. Please don’t blame employees or the police because there is NOTHING legally anyone can do. Please smile behind your mask at all those people who ARE wearing masks. There will always be a minority of people who think only of themselves...not the safety of others. Shop, keep your distance, and leave as soon as you can...and keep on doing the safe thing.

Good grief.

That’s why neither my wife or I have been inside a grocery store or drug store since April. We do all our grocery shopping online for drive-thru pickup at either Walmart or Sam’s Club.
I know that Target offers curbside pickup, but with limitations on most if not all refrigerated or frozen items. But whatever service they offer can’t match Walmart’s.

I always assume that 99% of those who do not wear masks are making some kind of statement — proclaiming that they do not give a damn about public health or their own, and/or they have been convinced that Covid is a hoax and that the stats aren’t real.
I am quite weary of the comparison to the flu. We have a flu vaccine and we know how to deal with the flu. To make that comparison is to grasp at straws. But the word “flu” is just another buzzword that has been programmed in as a tool of division.
One of the big differences between Covid and the flu is that Covid is often leaving serious damage in its wake. Those who think they have recovered could be looking at a future with pre-existing conditions caused by Covid.
Stores cannot expect their employees to confront people over masks. In these historic times, which seem to bring a fresh hell with each day’s news, the person confronted could be one whose anger has been stoked to the point of doing harm.
Perhaps, those who think our store employees should be put at risk should go to Publix or wherever and sign up to be a bouncer.
Working with the public can often be a nightmare, even in normal times, but there is nothing normal about the ugly times we are going through now. There are some angry, knee-jerk reactors out there.
A virus needs a host. The calculated division created in this country has rolled out the Welcome Wagon for Covid.
Science says that the lame argument that masks don’t help is wrong. Everybody, by now, should have seen those videos that show the distance the virus can travel is definitely encumbered by masks. Masks and hand washing are all we’ve got so why not try? — (See paragraph 1.)
By the way, for the record, I have been thinking that flu season won’t be as bad because more people are more conscious of health hygiene. Time will tell.

I would not expect an employee, even a store manager to risk getting into a confrontation with anyone regarding the wearing of a mask. There are inconsiderate and self centered individuals everywhere, even here in the friendliest home town. No one knows how mentally stable or agitated anyone is that’s near where you are. Oh and some who live here or around here are just plain stupid.

Businesses have every right to decide who they will do business with and under what circumstances. A business has the right to require that customers wear a mask and has every right to tell them to leave if they are not wearing one. If the customer refuses, the business may call the police and the police should escort the person off the property. No law is required.

I haven't been to Publix since March. I asked the reliable fellow who I am married to about the mask situation at Publix and at Bed Bath and Beyond where I sent him yesterday. He said he doesn't see people at Publix on 466 ever without masks since they put up the signs and he said both times he went to Bed, Bath and Beyond over the weekend he didn't see anyone without masks, ditto Lowes.
I don't know what anyone would or should do if they see someone without masks. I would just continue on as if I didn't see them, giving them a wide berth. I agree with you. "Mind your own business" is good advice.
However, I have shopped at Walmart, Publix and Lowes this week and have seen plenty of folks not wearing masks. Especially Lowes. But, I wear mine so I don't care what they do. I don't stand in front of any of them chatting, so even if they were to spit I doubt it would effect me.

Seems to be making a fuss over an issue no retail store would do in asking customers to leave. Goes with healthy folks parking in handicap parking spots ,to make an issue out of it is pointless.

Here is a simple answer...... If you're somewhere and do like the environment or what you see, just leave. Problem solved.
You are not the mask police. You have your opinions, facts or your beliefs, others have theirs.
You are not privileged
No, the mask-less ones ARE THE ONES who aren't PRIVILEGED! THEY have NO RIGHT endangering the health of others for their own selfish reasons!

Funny maybe, but not foolish. You looked like a person who cares.:bigbow:

My Mom lives in the Villages. We just retired and will be there soon. We live in Palmer, Alaska. We are virtually mask less here. Anchorage on the other hand is in a total lockdown with everyone in masks. We enjoy a COVID infection rate over nine times less than Anchorages. Odd right. Then I see an artivle that has an actual link to CDC stats that say the reported death tate due specifically to COVID nationally is only 6% of what has been reported as COVID deaths up to their new update August 23rd. It turns out they had reported all deaths that were also positive for COVID as COVID deaths when in reality, they died of a multitude of other reasons such as cancers, heart failure etc. Take it for what its wirth but if you read up in viruses it is clear, we will all get this virus. But we have over a 99.4% chance of surviving it. its Something akin to the flu.

They do not legally have the right to make you wear a mask that is not law or mandated by the governor of our state. The sign in front of the store is a suggestion. I don’t know what you people do not get about that. So many sheep out there that just listen and do what they’re told without question. It’s pathetic
Actually they do have that right. They reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, as long as they aren't violating discrimination laws.
It's no different from the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policies. They ALSO have the right to not enforce their policies. They ALSO have the right to create these policies as a way of encouraging people who were on the fence, to comply with their requests.
In other words -
Anyone who used to say "I won't wear a mask in a building UNLESS that store requires it" will now finally actually wear a mask in that building.
Again - it is doing what it was intended to do. Nothing is broken, no lies were told.

I’m not going to wear a mask. This is still the United States of America. And the virus is going to go where it wants to go just like the cold virus or the flu virus. Count yourself as another one of the paranoid idiots in this country
Just remember that at some point, you might encounter someone who shows you a sign to THEIR business, reminding you that you are REQUIRED to wear a mask in THEIR business, on THEIR property. And if you make a fuss, they will be within their rights to force you to leave. And if you make a further fuss, they will THEN have the right to call the police and press charges against you for trespassing.
Plus everyone in the store who respects their policies, will be able to point at you, take pictures of you, post them online to make sure everyone ELSE knows that you are one of those people who have no respect for the policies of places you choose to do business in.
But go ahead and fight for your "rights."
And remember, your rights end where mine begin.

Businesses have every right to decide who they will do business with and under what circumstances. A business has the right to require that customers wear a mask and has every right to tell them to leave if they are not wearing one. If the customer refuses, the business may call the police and the police should escort the person off the property. No law is required.
They also have the right to not escalate a situation to the point where the police have to be called in the first place.

What I would suggest, for people who want to "report violators" of policy for whatever reason:
Ask yourself these things first:
Is that person forcing themselves into close proximity to you? (less than 6 feet)
Is that person coughing, sneezing, spitting when he talks, or any other such trait that would cause their saliva to shoot out like a missile toward you?
Is that person being otherwise disrespectful, or is the fact that they aren't wearing a mask the ONLY thing that they are doing, that seems to be against store policy?
If the answer is yes to the above questions then by all means - report them, they need to be reported, they might pose a serious health hazard.
If the answer is no, then just leave them be and make sure to keep YOUR distance away from them, as you wish they would to you.

Anyone not wearing a mask in a closed public place after being reminded is deliberately violating the law and endangering others to prove a point, whatever it is. All stores, like Publix should have someone at the door to remind people and offer a mask to those who forgot. But they are not police, they are already endangered just by having to work for our benefit, and I salute them. There have been too many violent cases where the issue was pushed or there was an attempt to block entry. People of that ilk are also likely to be carrying a firearm. Far better and safer overall for everyone to just avoid such people.

There is no "LAW" requiring masks. Laws are passed by State and Federal Legislatures.
Even Governors mandates can be challenged in court.
Yes, businesses can restrict some things on their property but it can't discriminate against anyone.
(My religion forbids covering face, I have COPD, I am poor, I have no ears, etc.)
I suggest mind your own business, stay 6 feet or as far away as possible, stay home, order from home for pick up, etc.
You might just tell the wrong person(having a bad day) to wear a mask and it might not go so good. Just saying.

So if I choose not to wear pants in the publix store, is that ok too?
How about yelling fire, fire. Is that ok in public businesses?
No mask is a public health risk. Call the county health dept then the gov office. Maybe they will shut down the greedy stores that ignore public safety just to make another sale.
My observation
Publix very poor
Walmart makes much better effort
Lowes tries
Home depot not so much
Avoid shopping at stores that do not care about your health

Wow. Didn't know we had so many members of the "mask police" here in TV. I don't wear one unless it is absolutely required. I have a problem with acid reflux which is aggravated by wearing a mask. And, no, I don't have a letter from a doctor. Piece of advice. If it gets your nose out of joint fir others who don't wear a mask, just keep your distance and you won't be affected. Some people wear them playing golf, pickleball and even riding bicycles which is downright dangerous. A bit too far.

My husband and I care about our health so we always wear masks if we have to go out. He was at Walmart on 466A when it opened at 7am and someone was not wearing a mask. He asked one of the staff if they could speak to the person without a mask. He was told that an employee at Leesburg had tried to enforce the wearing of masks and the customer had pushed the woman to the ground.

But if they don't have a mask on then it's there personal decision , whether it be health issues or not it's there decision.... We all know by now that the CDC has come out with the real numbers of Covid deaths and it's wasn't worth costing people there jobs, homes an small business closing up... If your that afraid then stay within your 4 walls.. Most of us are not being scared senseless an getting on with our lives.
Not only would lives had been saved but our economy would be much stronger. We may have even been able to have fans in the stands for professional sports as an example.

Why do you have the idea that "masks do nothing"? That is so not true. I suggest you research the efficacy of mask wearing vs no mask wearing. There are countless articles and videos that demonstrate how masks block droplets AND aerosols. Do some homework about this. You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.
Have you given any thought at all why mask wearing is required and in many places mandated? There is a reason for that.

That happened to me just today at that same store. Sorry. I only got one thing (which was an even exchange). I covered my mouth and quickly left the store.
That is not good enough. That is considered "half masking". I saw on a news cast that there are more viral particles in the nasal passage than there is that comes from the mouth. Just covering your mouth really does nothing to slow the spread of this virus.

We dine only in restaurants which follow DCD guidelines by distancing their patrons when they are seated. Of course, mask wearing is impossible when you are eating and/or drinking. That is why the distancing is so vital. We also will not dine in any establishment whose employees are not PROPERLY masked and that means both nose and mouth remain covered at all times.

No shoes, no shirts no service. Was that mandated by the Governor? Disney is escorting patrons off premise if they aren't masked and if they create an issue banning them from future entrance. Was that mandated by the Governor? Delta and United have removed flyers and have banned them from future flights. Was that mandated by the Governor? The store's should post the mask is a requirement and customers will not be checked out without a mask except for a medical condition.
Those who "claim" they have a medical condition which prevents them from wearing a mask, should not to into the establishment. If they really must go into the establishment, then wear a full face shield. There is always a way to slow the spread of this virus, even if you can't wear a mask.

I have to agree with you! If a person has a medical condition & it’s so serious that they don’t have wear a mask you would really think the would have to have something saying they’re NOT REQUIRED TO WEAR ONE! Don’t know how they can get into a govt. office place without one. They absolutely won’t let you in without a legal slip saying you have a medical condition unless you show them the excuse! Some govt. places have metal detectors & believe me if they say you have to have mask you better be wheeling in a medical respirator.

I realize people forget. I also have. However, a responsible company should have someone posted at the door to remind people if they don’t have a mask they cannot enter. Not very difficult.
The Sprint store on 441 across from Home Depot did just that. They turned away a couple of people from entering and informed those potential customers to come back with a mask. I saw a couple leave then come back 15 minutes later with their masks. The door to the store is locked and must be unlocked by an employee. Now THAT is the way to "police" these anti- maskers.

Just this morning, hubby and I were waiting outside of Darrell's Diner on 466A to have our temperature taken. (Yup, they check your temperature before you can enter). A woman came up behind us, NOT wearing a mask, and stood about 2 feet from me. I asked her to PLEASE step back as I motioned with my hands for her to move. I was not able to get any closer to the entry door which was closed. This woman refused to move. I gave her a look that she had to know I was pi$$ed and I had a mask on. You have that totally wrong. The people who should be using online ordering and pick up are the people who refuse to wear masks. They are the people who are unknowingly spreading this dreadful virus. Ignorance may be bliss but not when you have the potential to kill someone.

NO! It is not "their problem". It is everyone's problem. Those anti-maskers who may be asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic are spreading the virus. Because of them, deaths will continue and our economy will limp along and not get back to normal as we knew it before this pandemic.

We don't live behind the Iron Curtain where you have to show papers to move from one place to another.
Nothing wrong with "showing papers" if it has to do with the safety of the public. I can't wait to get back on a cruise ship but I will not cruise unless the cruise lines demand proof of the Covid vaccine. No proof, I won't get on a ship.

Why? NO ONE has said that a mask is "essential."
Masks ARE essential in our fight to slow the spread of this virus that causes Covid-19. In addition, we social distance, wash or sanitize our hands frequently and do not touch our faces. That is all we have at this point so everyone should do their part for the sake of public health. To defy the science behind mask wearing is like burying your head in the sand.

I don't confront non mask wearers when I'm out and about. I will speak up, however, is someone is in my personal space and does not even attempt to distance themselves from me.
I moved in another direction to get away from her and to let her know I was annoyed with her. The nerve of some people!!!!!!
Ha, ha, ha. Thanks for the laugh. Visualizing that had me rolling. :bigbow:

My neighbor had to go to a hardware store for a piece to repair his sprinkler system. He forgot his mask but was in a hurry so he put one his wife had left in his car on but only had it covering his chin. Someone told him that he MUST wear a mask and he responded that he was wearing one. He said that there is no rule saying how he had to wear it. They left him alone.
I have been in many places where someone wears a mask and has it pulled down below their nose. I have even seen employees wear it that way. I don't say anything and I don't care. It will not effect me one way or another. I wear one only because I respect my wife's medical condition. I do not feel I am obligated to "CARE" about those that will expose themselves (if that's what they think) in public places when they have the option to stay home. Kind of like getting mad at folks that are smoking outside of a business. It is your option to walk through it. No one is forcing you to.
MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, because you are NOT going to catch the virus if you have your mask on when you walk past someone that doesn't, PERIOD.

Its a farce. Whaddya think they are gonna do, not take your money cause you don't have a mask? You think the manager who makes just above minimum wage for her 100 hour week is going to risk an incident in her store?

Everyone has an opinion. Like I said, it's not my problem if they don't wear one, and I do not make it my problem. Unlike others on here, I do NOT believe that anyone not wearing a mask is sick. And not everyone I pass in a store has HIV either, or the measles, etc.
Stay home and then you won't have to worry about getting infected and we won't have to worry about you thinking that our protection is not adequate.

That is not the way it works. You are very uninformed. Very sad.
