What else is new. Nothing different on any other course. Have asked why it takes so long for these greens to heal. Never get an answer. Just another sign of incompetence on the golf courses. Wait, just got an idea. Why don't they build a few golf courses in a swamp and forget about the drainage issue?

Green are still in very bad shape.. It has been over two weeks since they were punched, if done correctly they should have healed by now. If the people who work the courses, worked for a private course in FL, they would have been fired after two weeks. I don't understand, aerating greens is not rocket science. Do they just not know or don't care to do them correctly?

Aeration one day and reopening the next is ridiculous. Why do it at all if you don’t close the course for at least 5 days. If that happened, you would complain about that, too. These guys work very hard from before sunrise until sunset so that we can live the dream. Sounds like a lot of you should join a private country club where the greens keeper has a college degree in Agronomy. He lives on the course free of charge and you pay $50K a year to be a member. Count your blessings and think about what we’re getting for under $2K a year.

As I’ve always said, the better a persons game, the less they complain about course conditions.

Without the bumps, I would need to make up new excises for poor putting......

With the number of courses in The Villages and what they change to play them they certainly can afford to hire one or two individuals with degrees in Agronomy. Secondly the greens do not need to be this way. I use to have a membership at a very nice semi private course up north. They would close the course for one day and punch and sand the greens. They would then water, water water the greens the rest of the day. Within three days you would never know the greens had been aerated.

If you only pay $2,000 a year you must be playing the executive courses 5 times a week and playing the Championship courses 1 day a week. If you like par 3 courses that is fine but if you want to play regulation courses, playing here is expensive. I think most people who live here can afford to play the regulation courses and that is why very few complain about the price.

The Villages posts the aeration schedule ahead of time on the golf website, so that you can eliminate those courses with recent "plugs" from your tee time requests. If you pay attention to that schedule, you should be able to avoid the bumpy greens.

A couple of points
1. This is not a matter of public vs. private. Aeration is aeration. Either it is done correctly or it isn't. I have also asked why the greens take so long to heal. I also never get an answer
2. $2,000 a year You are dreaming. Priority alone is $800. Average $30.00 a round three days a week, you figure it out.
3. Yes there is an aeration schedule. Many times it is not followed. Many times our firsr, second, and third choices are not given to us and guess what course we do get.
4. Great point made. With the money these courses generate perhaps two true greenskeepers could be hired. Wait that makes too much sense.
