Keep the front of your vehicle clean.

Yea, just noticed that when grilling (smoker) yesterday for 6 hrs. The smoke attract them like flies to shot although the "spring" attack was much less than last year so maybe the fall will be minimal and quick as well. Was hoping to go braless but likely will have to put it on for a few weeks. ;) On the car!

put some old newspapers on the ground under the front bumper and spray the front grille and front edge of the hood with PAM...that'll make it easier to get those little 'buggers' off

I’m sure they are around, but as of today
I haven’t seen any yet!
But your post brings to mind a positive aspect to the Covid virus....
because of it, I drive way less and therefore the Love Bugs are much less of a problem!

Just use a wet dryer sheet. Come off easily.

Great idea, never heard of using PAM. Silicon spray will do the trick also.

I found a hood air deflector sends most of 'em flying over the roof rather than into the windshield. They have a short but enjoyable life.
A year ago the side of my house looked like something out of the horror movies. I had to use a electric fan to blow them away then a leaf blower to clean up the bodies off the patio.

Theyre out in full force May and June. Mating season. Not usually an issue after that.

When I did this, it worked but then took a day long job to rid the cars grill of the pam.

LOL, I can assure you, from 4 years of experience, they have 2 seasons. Spring and fall. :D
How long does lovebug season last?
Unfortunately, love bugs are here to stay. May marks mating season for the nuisance bugs, and it lasts four weeks. Then, they do it again in September. They're active between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and they love temperatures above 84 degrees.

LOVEBUG MATING SEASON
According to the University of Florida, Mating peaks last about four weeks in May and September. Typically, two main generations occur during this time, but the insects can be seen throughout the summer.

Ha! Yes, it’s September and yes they are back! Last year was our first summer down here and in the fall we found that they were disgusting. I do not look forward to seeing their return. Ha ha, the beautiful life in Florida though!

Time to go to the Dollar Tree and stock up on dryer sheets, dunk them in water and the bugs wipe right off the car.

Don’t use Pam on your car. Automotive supply must have better alternative.

WD 40 works good as well and doesn't harm the paint.

I'm fairly new to the Love Bug issue. Do you spray the PAM on your behicle before you drive around during this season, or after the bugs are already on, simply to loosen ,and remove them?

Get a spray bottle and use some hydrogen peroxide and water. Spray it on the bugs, let it sit a minute and wash them off. Used this on our motorcycle (Goldwing) and it worked great.

You might also consider this stuff for removal. It is highly recommended on many of the top auto detailing "enthusiast" sites and forums and was recommended by the guy who detailed my car. You dilute it in water. I keep it in a spray bottle in the back of my vehicle. DO NOT use DAWN dish soap as lots of people suggest while it works great it also removes all the wax you have ever applied. No recollection where I got it but I did order it online. It lasts forever since it gets diluted.

I don’t spray anything. Just wipe with damp dryer sheet when I return home. It’s not really a big deal.

[IF IT MATTERS to you, Like washing your vehicle with Dawn dish soap. dryer sheets will remove your wax finish.]
You can dampen a dryer sheet and rub it on your car to help remove dead bugs, particularly love bugs that embed in your finish. The dryer sheet trick also helps if you need to get at tar or sap. Just keep in mind that the reason this works is that the chemicals in the dryer sheet dissolve the vehicle's finish. It's better than scrubbing, potentially scratching your car, but you'll need to reapply wax to restore your shine and protect against future bugs and grime.

6. Apply Car Wax
Most of the cleaning methods mentioned above, such as the WD-40 and dryer sheets, can strip the wax off your car. Therefore, after washing your vehicle, make sure to re-apply the wax.

WD40 or silicone spray works well also.

WD40 or silicone spray works well also. Yea, and takes all the existing wax off with it leaving the finish even less protected (but bugless for the moment).
