The problem may be with the change of address from your last residence

we've had the same two folks sorting mail in our mail center for the past 3+ years....once and a while I may get a piece of my neighbor's mail...but it's usually junk mail that stuck together
...that said, we've gone 'green' with anything that's important...so it's basically catalogs and junk mail coming to us via USPS

It might just be the new norm usually I receive 2 medications from VA by mail had taken 3-5 days. My last request although processed waiting 12 days and have not received yet. Being positive maybe today.

We experienced a nightmare a few years back. Constantly getting mail of others, not receiving pension checks, a very long list of serious matters. Finally straightened out when the lady who presently works at our mail center started.

I noticed someone wrote a snarky reply to you about its always better "somewhere else where you came from". I was fortunate to have had the same experience, same carrier for many years, never the slightest problem. I was not familiar with "private" mail delivery when I moved here, the difference was pretty shocking in the lack of the professionalism we'd experienced previously. Just thankful it has improved. IF you don't mind the inconvenience, you can do as friends of our have done for years; rent a box at the actual post office nearest your village. You will have access 24/7 to your box and only USPS personnel will be handling your mail. Friends have done this for 8 years now, cost was very reasonable, and they receive their things at least a day before I receive same the same thing, always get Amazon packages on the date stated on the notice/receipt, etc.

Give it another month to straighten out, you may have poorly skilled or non professional employees working there.

Have you discussed with delivery person?

If that didnt work would have conversation at main post office with whoever is in charge of delivery

Hopefully it smooths out for you.

We have been very happy with our service. We have gotten to know the "carriers" over the years.

Good Luck.

We rented in Pinellas and we got mail and packages for another address in Pinellas. The mail carrier got the boxes mixed up often. We then moved to Charlotte. We get our mail but it is very slow in coming. I received a 2 day express letter after 10 days.

This is definitely an issue at times. Found a nice tip at Holidays helps. Also made a point of meeting the main person who does the mail at our boxes. These are not postal workers. They bid on the area. Weekends they may have their kids or a subcontractor sorting mail. Good luck.

We too have had problems. Several years ago in October we did not get any mail for days and were expecting some important mail. Our box is on the very bottom and difficult to see unless you nearly get on your knees. I found that tape had been placed covering our box. So I broke a hole through and placed a note that we were here. Then we went to the main post office and found that our mail was being returned marked “ no forwarding address”
Now we get mail that needs to go to a neighbor who has the same house number but on a different street. We also notice through the daily notification from “ Informed delivery” That some pieces that are to be delivered that day don’t arrive for 1-3 days later.

Mail can be iffy sometimes. Get your important stuff via email. USPS is a broken business model and had a deficit of $8.8 BILLION in 2019 and 13 years of consecutive losses. A great idea that is not working Any longer.

Can honostly say we have had very little problem with our mail delivery. I know one or two neighbors did when a new person started but it seems to have been straightened out. FYI we have been here 22 yrs..

No problem with ours, but I have all pension & S.S. Checks direct deposited in my bank. I also signed up with USPS for their preview emails. They scan all 1st class mail and send you the image daily. The actual delivery is either the next day or 2 nd day. You also can go green with most creditors and get monthly statements and invoices link emailed to you Now I only get the pool guy or lawn guy invoices plus junk in the mail.

We have lived in The Villages for 14 years. Always had great service until April/May of this year. (Virginia Trace-Canal St. mail center) Amazom orders and third party orders were missing. We wrote our name, address, phone numbers, plus dates, tracking numbers, and type of products, even stated the delivery message from one order - USPS said two items had been put in our inside mail box on Friday but only one was in our box , with another package which was delivered Monday.

We hand delivered the note to the postal center near Lady Lake police center. Handed it to the local postmaster general on call and explained the concerns. Also had a local supervisor stop by our home for information. Gave a copy to her.

Waited, some phone calls, but the reply was “some of the packages are through Amazon, you can call them and they’ll send them out again”. Waited and called the local USPS and the person who answered the phone said they would leave a message. No phone call back gave up.

We did receive a couple calls from the supervisor of our mail area, she said to take the information to the local post master. Which we did as stated above.

Yes, mail delivery to Virginia Trace has gone downhill. I get a preview of my incoming mail by email. Comes really late now and sometimes doesn’t come until the next day or not at all!

I live in a new area down "south". We have had some mail theft from our boxes about 6 months ago. I lost several pieces of important mail. I filed a complaint with the post office but never received my lost mail again. Some speculation was that small person or child was able to crawl through the boxes for large packages. At that time the back of the boxes were wide open. Now they have a barrier on the back of the boxes so that someone cannot crawl through and get into the mail room. Also I have received a few handwritten notes from the carrier that my box will not fit in the mail boxes and so I have to come to the mail station at 1 pm to pick up my box. I work so it is a bit difficult for me to leave work and go pick up my package at 1 pm.

What Village do you live in? Yes, we've had mail problems. Right now we are waiting for a gift card mail to us over 2 weeks ago. We have problems in the past also with mail taking way too long to be received. We did talk to the mail station person who was very helpful in looking in the boxes around ours to see if it was there. No success.

Our smaller mailbox is packed so full of packages we had to literally cut open a box and pull out the contents, then cut apart the box to get it out. This happens way too often, even though there is a bigger box available, for some reason it seems like a challenge to see how much can be stuffed into the smaller box. No lost mail though.

frequently we get mail addressed to another person, most likely the result of the street names being similar. if it's regular envelope mail, i drop it back into outgoing mail drop box. 1 time we received amazon pkgs that i personally drove over to the proper location.

I rely on the USPS Informed Delivery Email daily notifications to keep track of things I'm receiving in the mail. The best move though was to go as green as possible. All deposits, payments, bills, etc are electronic so I don't have to worry much about the mail.

I have lived here since 2012 and no problems until this past year. I live in Santo Domingo and received mail for 3 of my neighbors in my box. I received a package and when I got home I realized that it was not mine but for someone who lived two streets away from me. Now I check the mail before I leave the postal station.

For 10 years we lived in the Village of Bridgeport Lake Sumter, and never had a problem with the mail. We are now in a new Village, and we have had ongoing problems for the past few years. It was taking our mail forever to get to the northeast and midwest, called the postal office and complained. Post Master came out to our mailing station and found out that the mail person was not taking outgoing mail on a daily basis. Also, I got neighbors mail, and many got mine. I did notice that the mail person was constantly on her phone when delivering the mail. It has gotten somewhat better, but my personal opinion is that people, in many cases, who provide services today don't really care about their responsibilities, and just want to finish their job as fast as they can and take no responsibility for the outcome. There is no accountability, and as a result, service is a thing of the past.

You might add USPS's service entitled Informed Delivery (using your computer to sign up). It will show you a photo of each piece of mail each day, including information regarding what packages are there or are coming very soon (with the tracking info).

No! You submitted a change of address where you used to live. That causes delays. The 'CONTRACTER' at the postal station does the best he/she can. I assure you that it will get better.

I get others mail almost weekly, even packages. I have also ordered things that have never arrived even though tracking said it did. I am in Santigo.

Just so you know, the people who pick up mail and packages from the USPS facility to move it to the mail station are not USPS employees. They work for a company contracted by USPS to perform the final delivery of your mail.

Mail problems may vary from mail station to station, village to village. Have had various problems over the years. Missing birthday/holiday cards, often get mail for people with same house number but different street, delayed/slow mail, jamming mail into box, bent crushed packages, etc. On the upside, sometimes they deliver larger boxes right under porch next to front door. Other times, they leave the package on front edge of porch, which then gets soaked by rain. Rarely, do they ring the door bell. Very frustrating.

Oh good luck. I’ve had ongoing problems for 8 years. I still receive mail for people who lived in my house over 10 years ago. For 2-3 years I was receiving mail and packages that belonged to the previous owners even though they only moved around the corner. One Christmas I received the same Christmas card to someone who did not live in our village or any address similar to mine 5 times after placing it in the mail box for wrong delivered mail!!!! I was convinced these mail people could not read. The other issue is they pack so much junk in those little boxes that you can’t remove it without pushing it out of the back of the box. When confronted with issues, they’re rude and unprofessional. How I miss mail delivered to the door by real USPS.

I think the mail folks are NOT USPS employees ?? but contract workers who got the job on some basis...lowest bid...maybe? but I am not quite that cynical....12 years NEVER any problems getting our mail on time, or when having mail held on a "vacation stop" we have not had any problems. Well OK...maybe a couple of times...mail in our box that was intended for someone else...just drop it in the slot for incorrect delivery and the right person will get it... a day late. That happens now and then no matter where you get mail.

The folks sending mail to your address that is addressed to folks who lived there previously is on the sender...not the USPS.
Sender should spend a "nickle" and buy an updated/current address list. I get mail to renew my vehicle warranty on cars I owned 2 vehicles ago. USPS fault? I don't think so. Go to your mail station when "mailperson" is there and talk to them...tell 'em what is up and to quit putting SSS's mail in your box...SSS is long gone. I am XXX's. I have had 100% success with that. If you don't want to go face to face leave a note for them in the mail person's inbox...i.e. "vacation stop slot, etc."

All I can suggest is step into the 21st century and start doing your banking (direct deposit your pension/retirement/dividend checks)/billing/investment paperwork on line....then you don't have to worry about lost checks, if you go on a cruise for 2 weeks, etc.
Auto pay your bills...use a credit card....get airline points!
Citizens First Bank even shoots a monthly check to my lawn guy... (free)
Stop buying stamps...slaving to the post office all of the time...WORRYING!
More time for fun!

Can't believe people still deal in checks today...
(a check is just as useless if the world ends/bank network computers crash)

I haven't "paid" a bill in 10 years....and NEVER missed one.

Also, go to the USPS website and sign up for "informed delivery".
You get an email every day showing you a photo of what mail you are getting, EVERY day. Really cool!

PS
Use the crazy computer generated password option when setting up your accounts...
DON'T make everything your dogs name with a number 1/your birthday next to it.

JMHO YMMV ;)
