Living in Va we had an appliance repair guy for past 20 years who worked on all makes and models of appliances.
Since he is not likely to make service calls here figure we should have someone on file when the time comes we need help.
We purchased house with Whirlpool, Maytag and LG appliances. So far they are doing fine but at some point they will not
Does anyone have a fellow they would recommend who can work on all types of appliances including washers and dryers?
Thanks for your help.

Stu, give Sears repair service a call. They service all brands now. They show up on time, know their stuff and are respectful...and if they know what brand/model you have and what the issue is, they'll most likely show up with the spare parts
we've used them and have been very pleased.

This doesn't directly answer your question but don't forget to account for the age of the appliance, and the cost to replace it before you call someone in to fix it.

Jeff many years ago in NYC learned how to calculate this.
Take the replacement value of the appliance and subtract the original cost.
Divide that number by the number of years you have had the appliance.
To that number multiply by pi squared and that will tell you what to do.

Correct. But, I will usually opt to repair the appliance, because I don't want to go through the hassle of shopping for a new appliance, and being without the old one until I do.

Sears is a good choice.
Alwayz There Appliance repair was terrible: Mr Simmons drove up smoking a cigarette...did not
identify himself. Looked at the refrigerator and announced that it's
impossible to buy just a spring and that the entire ice dispenser/water
dispenser unit would need to be replaced "if we can get it." He said he
would go to his vehicle and check......after about four or five minutes
(just about the length of time it takes to smoke a cigarette) He returned
as said he couldn't get the parts and we would have to endure as long as we
could and then buy another refrigerator. "That will be $ 69."
A few days later......another service technician...said that it was a
broken spring and he would order it $3.58. Until then...he adjusted the
broken spring so the unit works adequately.
I am profoundly disappointed with Alwayzthere appliance repair and will
tell my friends.

What makes you think he won't make a service call here? For the right price I'm sure he'll jump on it. Don't be so cheap. :1rotfl:

I have used 'All About Appliances' both at my rental in The Villages and at my home. Their number is (352) 630-2202.
I have used them 3 different times between both houses and not been disappointed.

We have been more than happy with Beck's Appliance Repair. Although, Rick Beck died, his widow has continued with the business. Friends of his have been doing the servicing, they are reliable, prompt, and reasonable. (352) 245-3598.

That is why I started this thread.
A warranty is a very expensive insurance policy. Better to deal with local guy who gets to know you and your appliances and will treat you fairly.
The guy we have in Va dealt with for 5 years when he was employed by appliance company and than 20 years while he was on his own. Did a great job keeping our stuff running and finding parts that were out of stock at manufacturer

Thank you VERY much for the recommendation!! We had a year old dishwasher shut down during mid-cycle. We called Aggressive Appliances (which told us when we bought the appliances that they had a strong focus on service); however, the soonest they could send someone out was in December, which was weeks out!! Very disappointed in Aggressive Appliances and seriously challenge their claim to focus on service after the sale. Anyway, my husband came on here and read the reviews - including yours - for Jerry Thibodeau. Jerry was out within 24 hours, quickly got to work, IMMEDIATELY identified the problem, and was gone in less than 45 minutes. There was absolutely no dragging out the time. Charge was unbelievably minor compared to even what Aggressive was going to charge us for simply a call. We are very happy and so grateful for the recommendation! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sears takes FOREVER to schedule an appointment..one month or so......then usually has to return with the necessary part two weeks or more later. Yes, technicians are knowledgeable and polite......nevertheless.....FOREVER to wait for repair
