Hi guys,

I've been dealing with golf car sticker shock since we moved here....about 8 months ago. I just can't swallow buying an "off the truck" golf car for $10K. I'd like to get a 2021...but I want to pay less. Is there a way to get one from out-of-area for less or is trying to pay significantly less sorta like wishing unicorns can run free up and down Morse avenue? Thanks for any tips you can share :)

I was happy with my deal, 2 years ago, at I-4 Power, Webster Florida. I'd link it, but the website is under construction. They deliver, they come to your door for service...nice people...I saved quite a bit over buying inside the bubble... was very pleased. I went pretty basic with a Yamaha Quiet Tech, brand new, but I think if you have the time, they can pimp 'em up for you.

I bought mine in Alabama and had it shipped in. Oh, perhaps 30% less if you calculate saved sales tax and add shipping.

I have an advantage, I have a home there. You can order over the phone if you want. I was there about 30 days ago to order my custom seats. Let's see those were 600.00 less than the Villages owned shop. Different brand so not exactly comparable. PM me for name if you're interested, I have no financial interest in them. I really am not interested in forum warriors nit picking the merits of an out of state dealer. Do whatever works for you!

That's exactly one of the problems! We have a sweet 2008 caddie STS in the garage that is worth about 1/4-1/3rd of a new golf car. It's got leather, air, cooled seats, crankin' stereo, sun roof, A/C, heat, zillion way adjustable seats, seat belts, air bags.....it's just killing us LOL!

There are numerous posts about purchasing golf carts in and around The Villages. Here is what I recently posted:
We bought our brand new 2020 Yamaha from Country Village Power Equipment in Webster in May of 2020. We worked with Steve and Carolyn and saved over $3000.00. We got to pick our colors and equipment and it included factory wiring. The golf cart was delivered to our driveway. They are a factory authorized dealer providing the same Yamaha factory warranty and financing as other dealers. They recently came to my house and performed the first service (oil change and a couple of other maintenance items) in my driveway for only $60.00. We didn't have to leave the house and wait in line with other people. It took less than 30 minutes. We highly recommend them as so far we have had a great experience with them. They are about 20 minutes south of Fenney in Webster. There is a famous flea market and farmer's market right across the street from them that I think is only open on Monday. Don't buy a golf cart without first checking them out!

I moves here last year in July and was also shocked by the price of a new Yamaha golf cart. Even the used/refurbished ones are way over priced. So I called around to Yamaha dealers outside the "no compete" area enjoyed by the Villages. Bargain Carts in Haynes City about 50 miles south of here was selling brand new 2019's for $7,600. The 2020's were coming out in September so I waited a few months. Steve the salesman (only sales man) Called when the delivery truck brought the first 2020's in and told me what colors he had. I picked the blue color. He was nice enough to honor the 2019 price and delivery to my home was free. I had them add the Sunbrella enclosure for about $400. I added turn signal side mirrors from Amazon for 30 something dollars. The bucket seats that the Villages sell for $1,900 + tax that recline and move back and forth, I got somewhere else for $800 all in.

I figure I saved about $3,000 and I still picked my own colors and accessories.

From what I remember the 2021 Yamaha is now selling for about $8,000 + tax with free delivery.

What irritated me about the villages golf carts is they said they wouldn't do any factory warranty work on a new Yamaha if I bought it somewhere else. That's like a Honda dealership saying the same thing. Total bs.

There are so many really nice used golf cars for sale in this area that are in great shape and have very low miles, and some are great deals. I really don’t understand this fetish for buying NEW cars, houses, etc. I bought a 22 year old house in The Villages, and it’s a beauty. Apart from one $14,000 new car I bought for my ex-wife, I’ve never bought a new car, and neither have my kids. I buy a car two or three years old owned by a little old lady that has 30,000 miles on it and a good warranty and drive it another 200,000 miles. I save a third on the price.

When you get quotes from The Villages Golf Cars and from outside TV, make sure the quotes are for EXACTLY the same features and accessories!!!! And make sure you compare the after purchase servicing!!! I know several people who “saved thousands” buying outside TV, but got much less in features and accessories!!!! They justified the outside purchase by saying “I didn’t real need those features and accessories anyway”. Good luck.

Good point. Country Village Power Equipment in Webster offered everything I wanted and needed except the self cancelling turn signals. I figured I did not need them and so far have lived without that almost $300.00 feature very well. Country Village Power offered the easy on/off snaps that I was not able to get at other dealers. These snaps are much easier to snap on/off than the ones featured at other dealers. I got the fancy "El Tigre" seats, the Sunbrella enclosure, the mirrors with the turn signals built in. seat belts (front and rear), golf bag carrier, cigarette lighter plug (cheap and recommend it), usb charger, cooler, flip down vented windshield, LED lighting, front overhead tray, and all the other accessories I wanted and saved over $3000.00. I also got my choice of color, white, which the Villages Golf Cars wanted to charge me $400.00 more for. Lastly, mine is a Yamaha factory four seater, not a two seater converted to a four seater. Not sure if it makes a difference but I felt more comfortable with the factory equipment.

As I mentioned in earlier post, couldn't be happier with the after the purchase service. They delivered my golf car to my driveway. They also performed the first scheduled maintenance in my driveway for $60.00, which I understand is much cheaper than the competition. I much rather have my golf car serviced in my driveway than to get a free loaner to drive around in while my car is being serviced somewhere else.

The Villages Golf Car did offer free use of a golf car anywhere in The Villages (I live south of 44). While it is a nice benefit, I realized that right now I would not be using it too often as the squares (etc.) are closed. Once the bridge over the turnpike is open, that offer is over according to what I was told.

If you are asking about Country Village Power Equipment, they have two locations according to their website, Plant City and Webster. Not sure where Plant City is, but Webster is about 20 minutes south of Fenney. You take 301 South and go left where it splits off just south of 470 (I think the road you go on is 471). From there it is a straight shot south. The address for CVPE is 599 N Market Blvd, Webster. The phone number is (352) 793-3948.

Good luck with finding a 2021 golf cart for $10 grand. Did you want one with a steering wheel and a motor? I paid $15k 2 years ago for a quiet tech gas cart with several options I considered necessary. Seat belts, horn, illuminated turn signals in side mirrors, LED lights, Sunbrella package and more. Bought from The Villages for convenience. They give you a rental when repair work is done and are great to work with.

My golf cart insurance is $88 per year (Progressive through The Villages Insurance) and I get a tad over 50 miles per gallon.

Insurance is a lot more then $90 and you get nowhere near 50 mpg.

we pay $70 for full coverage - a year - with Progressive. Have a Tomberlin cart.
.
Re the OP topic - the profit margin on Carts -esp with Villages GC- is HUUUGE. Captive audience, but good to have competition inside and out of TV. That's good capitalism.

I bought one used club car electric, one brand new club car gas with a Curtis cab,
Two brand new Yamaha Fuel injected with one quiet tech. A few weeks ago I decided I need a cab for long drives from the very last house to be built in Fenney And over the bridge that never seems to be completed and the shopping center that is taking more than three years to build.
So I SWAM into Villages Golf Cars and was immediately and cordially presented with various forms of bait. Remarkably there was a brand new Yamaha with all kinds of nice added options. The fisherman made a great pitch for the emblem laughter ( oops I mean light) on the front! Do the turn signals cancel? NO!
Why I ask because they do on the Yamaha carts at the store on 466. After I listen to all the reasons why VILLAGES Golf carts are greater than stainless steal lures I am guided to a cart with a price tag a bit higher than 17k!
ENOUGH! A brand new Ford Focus costs less!
Ok, Ok I am a sucker. If it was the very last Yamaha like our very last house I may have taken the bait but I still have to pay my BOND!

Hi Joe,
I am about to list my 2017 Tomberlin 2 seater electric golf cart for sale. It is like brand new, and the only reason that I am selling it is because I am sick, and can no longer drive it. I am hoping my wife can take phots next week. I am asking $5,500. I have had it serviced once a year, and I have all of the receipts. This is an excellent golf cart at an excellent price. Cry once and enjoy a nice cart for the next....well pretty much the rest of our lives, right? Well we're heading to Webster to see what they have tomorrow....I'll check it out and report back!

As for used....I'm sure there are some killer deals out there and I'm familiar with the saying on the golf course when you hear the emergency sirens. But I just haven't seen 'em. $11,500 for a loaded mint 2019 or $7200 for a barely used 2016 or even $4,000 for a nice 2008....(which is the bluebook on our 08 caddie STS by the way). An 2021 for around 8 plus options just seems like the way to go.

Finally, I admit the villages stores provide tremendous convenience and service. If a guy just wanted to hit the easy button that would be the way to go. However, as my wife and I come from families that try to everything the hardest possible way, that's just not going to work for us ;)

You need not fear buying a reconditioned vs new. Carts are quite efficient and gas is the best. Look for what the options are. Basic seats are just that basic. After spending a day really driving your cart you'll wish differently. I'm no telling you to buy from the villages. Those off campus like village discount are quit good.

When you buy a cart it has a base price on it & it’s pretty much the same anywhere, all the options you want jacks up the price. Even if you go north & buy it, Mich. Ohio, Ind. ect, ect. It might be cheaper but I betcha when you start adding options like most Villagers do you’ll have just as much in it & maybe more. The Midwest (north) aren’t giving you options for free & they might charge more. You could buy a used 1990 for $500. but problem would start right away. I had a new 2012 & drove it until 2018, 6 yrs. & never had the first problem with it & had 26,000 miles on it. Bite your tongue & buy a new or at least a 2 yr. old one!

We ended up buying yesterday at Country Village Power Equipment in Webster yesterday. Pretty well equipped for $10,825 plus tax. The enclosure will take 3-4 weeks to make but they are going to deliver it later this week so we can start using it right away. The shopping experience isn't as slick as the villages showrooms, it's a power equipment dealership after all. But the staff is friendly and helpful and seem to genuinely want to get you what you want. For us it was just what we were looking for.

We splurged a bit on the enclosure with these really cool fasteners vs. snaps....we conserved a little with the yamaha touring seats vs. the bucket seats. It's got aluminum wheels, radial tires, premium light kit with the illuminated yamaha logo on the front, folding tinted vented window, and probably a few other things I can't remember.

We ate at Big O's Home Plate in Bushnell....modest appearance on the outside, fantastic burgers and craft beer on the inside with a really friendly staff too. Our bill for burgers and a beer was $14 and change.

Thanks again for all of the comments!!!

Would not do THAT, if I were you? They will sell you a piece of junk, rebuilt of course, sell you a warranty along with (not from the manufacturer, but from them), then over the time of the warranty will figure out how they can void the warranty due to something they will say YOU did wrong (like speeding!). BUYER BEWARE!!!!

[Feb 2021 update: A few months after owning the cart, we are still satisfied except for the dealer-added LED light strips. The placement of the side strips is bad because they reflect off the windshield (photo attached) making it more difficult for the driver to see the road at night . Steve refused to fix this problem. Also, they installed LED strips on the front hood that we did not order and I don't like the placement. If you buy a cart from Country Village, I suggest you have any LED strips added after purchase by Liquid Lights.]

I just saved nearly $2000 :) on a new 2021 Yamaha EFI QuietTech golf cart I ordered Country Village Power Equipment, an authorized Yamaha dealer. Country Village is located in Webster, a 20 minute drive south of the Southern Oak/Fenny area.
Country Village starts with a 2021 PTV model (not a stripped down fleet vehicle) that includes premium factory parts including the Yamaha “Ultra-Premium lighting package” (includes lighted logo). I believe this is the same model The Village Golf Cars (TVGC) uses to build the 2021 Lifestyle packages (but not used in their 2021 Hometown or 2018 Refurbs). Country Village doesn’t sell packages, but offers everything a la carte. We decided to get everything that is included in TVGC’s Lifestyle package, including a hard Sunbrella enclosure. This 2021 configuration came out $1989 less at Country Village than TVGC’s 2021 Lifestyle package, and even a little less than a TVGC 2018 Refurb Lifestyle package! I believe it also beats the price of new 2021’s from Carts & Clubs (Ocala) and refurbs from Village Discount Golf Car, neither of which have the factory-direct Ultra-Premium lighting package. Approximate prices:

New 2021:
Villages Golf Cart $12,300
Carts & Clubs (Ocala) $12,000
Country Village (Webster) $10,300

Refurb 2018:
Villages Golf Cart $10,500
Village Discount Carts $11,700

We added a few items not included in TVGC’s Lifestyle package: custom paint for $500, upgraded seat (Backspin Crossover Bench Bucket with 3 arm rests), overhead tray, full dash, and premium Loxx fasteners instead of standard snaps on the enclosure. They do not offer self-cancelling turn signals. Our total price with these extras was about $12,600 plus tax. The above prices exclude tax.
Like most other golf cart stores, Country Village Power Equipment is going to deliver the cart to my house, and come to my house to perform maintenance. You can contact them at Country Village Power Equipment - Home (http://www.cvpeyamaha.com) or 352-793-3948. Carolyn was excellent in assisting us with picking out everything we wanted to build our cart. If you ask for Carolyn and let her know I referred you I’ll receive a free maintenance visit. Thanks.

Thanks.
Sounds like a nice build. Would love to see pictures when you get it..

I highly recommend Country Village Power Equipment. Do not buy a golf cart without first checking their prices and commitment to excellent customer service.

I second the vote for Country Village Power Equipment; we just had ours delivered yesterday. Had a really nice accent graphic placed on the front.

That was $12,600 plus tax? Great deal.
