The primary is next Tuesday. Any discussion on Nugent vs Sager (rep dist 5), Kottkamp vs Bondi vs Benson (AG) and Scott vs McCollum ( Gov)?

The Nugent vs Sager race has gotten down and dirty with lots of mudslinging. Missing campaign signs, questions form Nugent's camp about Sager's party affiliation and on and on. Most of what I've heard and read from these two is defending themselves against things that aren't even real issues.

With the Holly Benson, Pam Bondi, Jeff Kottkamp race for Florida Attorney General; I really haven't kept up that much. I know they all tout being conservative Republicans and want to keep the conservative hold on the FL AG seat.

Speaking of the Florida AG, Bill McCollum vs. Rick Scott, for governor, my quess would be Scott would beat Alex Sink or Lawton Chiles. I don't know how good McCollum would be against either. He's was politicing, IMHO, with his recent stance on the immigration law.

I'm liking Sager and his platform. He seems to be the kind of candidate we conservatives have been asking for. I hope he's as good as his word. I will be voting for him.

I'm also a big fan of Bondi. I like her strong law and order stance and her support for the Arizona Immigration Laws and she is a strong proponent for the 2nd Amendment. I will be voting for her.

The biggest ballot I am unsure of how I will vote. I'm beginning to dislike both major candidates. I was intrigued by Scott and disenchanted with McCollum, but the campaigns have turned me off to both candidates. I'm not usually confused like this, but I have no gut feeling about either. I would appreciate the thoughts of my fellow TOTV conservatives on this one.

What do you make of the Protest Warrior allegations against Sager. I can't find any background on the NuRepblicans. I agree with nearly everything on their website that lists their platform. But who are they? Do you have any information about NuRepublicans or Sager and the Protest Warrior group?

From what I understand Sager was a member of this group that infiltrated leftest groups and then revealed their true agenda. Sounds like a good "Monty Pythonesque" goof to me. I just think his opposition is grasping a straws, but then again, I never underestimate the ignorance of the electorate. The last national elections are a prime example.

Does anyone know how Nugent stands on immigration? His flyer says he is against illegal immigration, but someone politicking at the mail station said he is for ammesty as stated at a forum in TV.

Ads say McCollum voted to raise our taxes 42 times and changed his stand on immigration. Scott is connected to Medicare fraud. I, like RichieLion, am not sure which way to go. McCollum has strong connections to Washington, so Scott may win out. I don't know that McCollum can be trusted on illegal immigration.

Remember that Scott Brown said the right things to get elected, then voted for the finance bill.

Because neither of the Republican gubernatorial primary candidates are great in my book; I'm going to gamble on Rick Scott for the simple reason that, given only flawed candidates, I'm not voting for the established government insider. I think I vote for Scott; and roll the dice that he surprises me. I think I already know who McCollum is.

RichieLion, one day I want Scott, the next McCollum. I spend a lot of time on Freerepublic.com though, and the thought seems to be that Scott cannot win in the general because the Dems will pound his past.

I've lived in Central FL for thirty years now. Bill McCollum was a US Congressman for twenty of those thirty years (at times my Congressman). He is very intelligent and is known as a man of his word. Many of the statistics thrown around about him come from his long career and the ability of some to go through his entire history of voting and portray things out of context.

Some of his strong points:
He is a fiscal conservative.
He is well connected and respected in Washington.
He is well known and respected in Tallahassee.
He is considered by friend and foe alike, a man of his word.

Weak Points:
Not an especially charismatic man and does not come across as someone you can relate to - He is not a Jeb Bush.
He has been a politician for virtually all of his adult life.

He ran for Congress when we lived in Orlando in the late 70's early 80's. All I remember of Mr Mc Collum back then was his negative campaign ads and my difficulty hearing what he stood for.

Guess things haven't changed much since then. Regardless, who wins the Primary they have given their opponents plenty more negatives to base their General Election Campaigns on.

Sure wish things would change, but I guess they all believe that negative campaign ads wins them votes.

I cannot wait until Wednesday morning when we hopefully will get a brief break from the political ads. I am beginning to miss Bob Dance and Grace and that dog!
