The only person that will know for sure is the entry to be the first one to cross the bridge. And we will know second when their picture is in the DS the next day:clap2:

The crowd to watch the bridges moved were by the hundreds. Can’t imagine what it will be like the first hour it’s open, and how to control the mass amounts of carts to gain access just to cross the bridge.

My best guess would be the first person will be coming from Chitty Chatty side. Makes sense since they have more to gain Crossing over to the shopping side of the bridge.

It's great going north as there is somewhere to go, going south only goes to Chitty Chatty, Bradford, and a couple new villages that are under construction and watch out for nails. The trails south are not connected to anywhere else except those village.

Maybe it will be great gala celebration similar the driving the Golden Spike in Utah upon the link-up of the Great Western Railroad. Maybe there will be a center of the bridge bumper to bumper meeting of two golf carts, one from the North and one from the South, climaxed by an honorable Villages Official throwing a golden switch to light The Villages advertising signs on each side of the bridge, all covered in gushing detail by a gaggle of excited Daily Sun reporters. :a040:

The CC bridge will only be for the “other half” of The Villages to use - those living south of 44. The walking ramp stops because that’s as far as those north can walk to view the wonderful Chittee Chattee preserve and modern amenities to come!

Aside from golf and the walking trails not sure there is a reason to go south once the curiosity wears off. South coming north when the entertainment returns to the squares, folks playing Champ courses and the restaurants may increase.

I stated that months ago, it's going to get quite busy especially in the Marsh Bend/Laguna areas once the Brownwood bridge opens. There is really nothing to see at this point coming over the Chitty Chatty bridge but there will be in the future.

I agree.

In our case, we love the walking trails, golfing at Marshview, and sitting at Edna's, so we go the southern area several times a week.

I doubt it, it was a different generation at the time it was constructed. Have talked to several that were here at the time (yeah they are in their 80's) and they do believe it's a less tolerant and more selfish population here today.

Shhhhh! Please don’t let those north of 44 know about this. We prefer they refer to south of 44 as “down by the prison” and stay far away!🤪

You can't get to golf or to the walking trails from the Chitty Chatty bridge as there is no way to get over the turnpike yet. You will be able to ride or walk through Chitty Chatty and Bradford but that's about it.

I choose to believe that there are still a lot of those who hold their tongue and keep their views and opinions private. I really like that. I have become very outspoken lately and I don't think the people who raised me would like that so much.

All the talk really rarely changes anyone's opinion. Although I still don't have a gun but I am more tolerant of people who do than when I first moved here from a very safe area in Ohio. In fact if things keep revving up in the world I may become a gun owner too. I think that not all change is good, but we have to be aware of what is happening and ready to respond to change.

I still have great hope and belief in the good in most people.

True.....but that will open in six months or so so full connectivity will occur, I was a little premature.

Obviously you do not know what you are talking about.

Once you are across the CC bridge, you can get on the beautiful walking path around the lake in CC, cross over the picturesque bridge into Bradford, turn left and take a LONG walk around the lakes, then cross the foot bridge into St. Catherine's and take a nice walk along the lakes in that neighborhood, eventually reaching the temporary end of the asphalt walking path not far from where Sawgrass Grove is being built.

The walking paths north of the turnpike are, in my opinion, nicer than the paths south of the turnpike.

The first people to cross the CC bridge happened yesterday. No announcement, no public event, interesting; I wonder why.
I guess they didn't want that other website to scoop them on the publicity.
Showed up in the newspaper and their YouTube site now has a video of it, after 12 hours posted 23 views...

I have to wonder, were the twenty people who were selected sworn to secrecy? Any of you who were selected, can you share any details on when you were notified and if there were "strings attached"?

Now “there’re” saying October 9th; who wants to place bets that it’s not done then?

It was posted Tuesday on the thevillages.com by some idiot that it was open, so after work on Tuesday, I drove my cart down there hoping to get it to my new home in Bradford - nope, it was still gated. Wednesday - posted again on tv.com, it’s open; nope, still gated. So yesterday, to rub salt in the wounds of people who are living in Chitty Chatty and Bradford, like me, they open it up to the “dignitaries” to be the first to cross it and then close it again until 10/9.

I continue to work and my golf cart is my main mode of transportation to get to work and back to my home in Bradford.

Well until you've waited three years for a bridge you can't start speaking for some of us. How long has your wait been again?

I suspect they didn't want the general populous to just ride up in their carts, forcing them to be turned around? And, from watching the video this morning, it looked like they(lottery folks) merely drove across and turned back around again? Apparently, more work to do?

Two weeks; wasn’t my fault you drank the koolaid too early and believed the realtor who sold you your home....
