I remember reading PASSES are given out at the Villages Box Office locations, since occupancy is limited you may be out of luck for opening day Oct 5th. Did not hear about online source.

you can call the box office on Friday rather than standing in line at one of the box offices
...you'll need to know which date and which square you'd like a ticket for
not sure how many tickets you will be able to purchase...there was an insert in the Daily Sun today with more information

Almost as interesting on how they will enforce the entry procedures and what will happen when people leave for the night at 8PM and there is no one left? I guess there will be a lot of "hey honey, give me your ticket and I will take it out and give it to Bob so he can get in and then we can do that 20 more times" unless of course they provide wrist bands that self destruct if removed.

Yep, it'll be several weeks before the TV Entertainment & TV Polo people get their s**t together after 7 mos shutdown, and the FL opening of CV restrictions. Meanwhile, we'll be watching from a distance. (It's kinda like when a new restaurant opens-- day 1; great, days 2-14+; stay home.) Cheers!

What's all this about tickets for the squares and having to pay for them - I'm a snowbird and havn't seen anything about this - is this every day or is it just a special show ??? Can't see vendors being happy to exclude people or deter customers - what if you just want to eat at a restaurant e.g. McColls, Marguaretaville where are the entrance points ...more specific details please !!

Not everyone has been in a meltdown. Most Villages act like adults. I don't expect bad behavior. It will be closed again if we have a major resurgence in Florida.
When I taught small children, I had Officer Friendly come visit our classroom. Every police officer I have ever known or talked to has been positive and warm including my own Grandfather and uncle. We are nice people us Villagers, officer. Most of us.

My understanding is that the tickets are free but limited to the number of people they choose to allow. Getting them is a pain, and you may need to show your ID card. I’m not sure. It may help to restrict the number of people there who don’t live in The Villages. Let’s hope that by next summer we all have been vaccinated and the squares will be back to business as usual.

Whoa, no one has to pay for any tickets to the squares
they are doing this to maintain social distancing....everyone that has a TV ID# can get a ticket from the box office (1st come, 1st served) limited to 2 tickets to control the crowd numbers....u bring your own chairs and no BYOB...the area that previously was used for dancing has been fenced off...rest of the square is open as usual
you can eat at any restaurant, you can shop at any retail store...u can walk around, but
you can't put a chair on the sidewalks apparently

Can you imagine all those who didn't get tickets saying "HEY, I'll just put my lounge chair on the sidewalk." Don't make it more than it is. As it is, you can be sure that some folks will turn this into a fiasco yelling TYRANNY! I CAN'T SIT ON THE SIDEWALK! THE FIRST AMENDMENT SAYS FREEDOM OF SEATS!

After the unfortunate events that have recently occurred in D.C., Gov. DeSantis may be re-thinking the opening and returning to "normal" of the state. Then The Villiages would probably take their cue from that and begin scaling back on any crowd gatherings outdoors or indoors due to a need for caution. There is a good chance that it will NOT happen that way, also. It could go either way?

 Sorry I'm a little confused again. With (guessing) 60,000 plus houses here how would you like them to provide information? Do you want a phone call or is it o.k. if they just send someone to your house? They use the Newspaper (which you don't like and I'm not guessing on that one) and they have a web site. You say the "Sun" is a marketing newspaper which doesn’t really represent news other than what houses are for sale, Contractors, ads and junk. YOU LEFT OUT IT ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION FOR ACTIVITIES.

Could someone post a link to the Daily Sun's article about the squares reopening, if that's even possible? If not, does anyone know how many tickets they're releasing for each show (in total, not per person)?
Also:
1. Any thoughts on how/if they will enforce "no dancing" (even line-dancing?!?)?
2. Whether the bleachers will be available for seating.
3. I read on the tickets website that the area reserved for dancing will be blocked off. Why not let people put their chairs there?
Sorry for all the questions, but shows on the squares are one of the top two or three reasons why I bought in the Villages last January (mere weeks before they shut everything down!!! - I guess timing is not my strong suit.)

Last night there were 50 people line dancing at Lake Sumter.
Also, there was a line dancing class going on.......and it would be safe to say, first class.
And as bonus information........City Fire was shoulder to shoulder in the outside bar.

If someone is walking on the sidewalk (which is what they are for I assume - hence the name) carrying chairs to get to the entrance to the square, to enjoy the entertainment, I would assume that no one would be selfish enough to make me divert into the street, in traffic, to get around them. Maybe they shouldn't need to stop it....just suggesting.

:) Paul I am sorry to say you may be wrong on that one. Selfish is the middle name of some. I've seen it many times. I've had it happen to me. You certainly can walk on the side walk. They don't want people sitting or standing there not because they will slow you down..... I would think it's about controlling the SIZE of the crowd.
In the 4 page insert that was in the Daily Sun on Thursday is a ton of information. The best part was the small print little disclaimer at the very bottom of page one. If everyone would read it and follow it along with the rules this would work a lot better. As for the rules..... they list several under the heading -
"Know before you go - For your safety we've made a few changes..." None of this should be difficult IMHO.
If someone can't understand I would think they need to consider asking for a refund of their tuition.
Go... Follow the rules... Enjoy... Be safe... :ho:

2. Entertainment Dept. Web Site states you can get passes for the squares 7 days in advance of the date wanted.
3. You state May's shows are not available. Are you really trying to get tickets to the squares for May 2021..... 8 months from now?

Sorry. I interpreted it to mean the dance area would be blocked off to everyone, sitters and dancers alike. I could understand making it off limits to dancers as social distancing will be nearly impossible. So if dancers were blocked out, why not allow people to put chairs there?
But it’s moot. Dancers there and chairs not there.
