After all this time they decide to shut off the water at the dog parks today? Things are opening up all around the state and they decide to do this now? The dogs need water. I can't believe it.

Take your own water. There aren't any public water fountains running in TV....if we want water (golf, tennis, pickleball etc) we take our own.....why doesn't that work.

We have two cats and neither of them allow us to go to Dog parks. Where is the water that was shut off??? Why do you think it was shut off? Who is in charge of dog parks?
Bogie Shooter will know who is in charge. Sometimes Champion knows stuff like that too.
I am sorry this happened. Do you think some nasty soul has shut them off at ALL dog parks? Or just the one you use? Please get back to us with why you think someone would DO that.
Are you a snowbird and just returned to find that public water fountains are turned off here?

Whilst we were in TV (May through August) the water fountain at Laurel Manor sports pool was working whereas that at Mulberry was taped off. No idea why the difference, unless Mulberry was broken.

No, they definitely did it. There are locks on the faucets! Everything worked yesterday.

We take our dogs to Mulberry Grove dog park. I noticed the water was shut off a couple days ago. We have been bringing our own water so it didn't make any difference to us, but most of the other dog owners were taken by surprise. It doesn't make any sense unless some of the dog owners were drinking out of the hoses. Senseless decision-making seems to be a side effect of Covid.

I can't believe it either! In addition to water there should be dog food and treats available because they get hungry also. Why not a dog groomer station where Fluffy and Muffy could get a bath and haircut after running around playing with all the other doggies? :MOJE_whot::MOJE_whot:

yes, it does seem odd that this is just happening now...when things are beginning to open up
perhaps the usage was so small that the individual reviewing the bills didn't notice that those lines hadn't been turned off previously

That's not the point. Is this a deterrent to having figs? This is irresponsible from The Villages.

So? Bring your own. Do you ever hesitate to bring a bottle of water for yourself when you go to a park, golfing or any activity away from home and shops.? Problem solved. Easy peasy

All the public drinking fountains in The Villages have been turned off. Have to take extra water on the golf courses now.

Things are not clearing up. In the last 24 hours 81 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Sumter County. That does not sound like it is clearing up to me???:ohdear:

From the mental state I’ve observed with some people driving their golf carts lately, someone probably got thirsty and was seen licking water out of the dog bowl......

OMG, is there ANYTHING here that people CAN'T complain about? No water at the dog parks??? Good lord, bring your own! I'm irritated that it rains in the middle of the day, thereby ruining my golf game. Make it STOP and reschedule it for later in the evening!

Best to know the facts before making accusations. Did you ask them why the water is locked up????

I’ve never been to a dog park, here or anywhere, where water wasn’t provided. Shutting it off seems pretty silly to me. But then again maybe some Villagers are afraid it might spread brain eating amoeba.

YES!!!! that's exactly why our pets (and us, too) get bottled/purified water. they say lots of rain here can cause some kind of overflow-runoff that contaminates drinking water. i've heard of a few boil water warnings, & even though not in our location, i still use dasani. that brain amoeba story was enough to freak me out. some laugh or make fun, but it's way cheaper than a vet or emergency room bill.

Sorry, i guess it is the way i was raised or perhaps it is just my Military training but i rely on NO ONE. When i accept the responsibility of careing for a dog it is MY responsibility to care for that dog!! Do not rely on anyone else to water your dog. YOU know the dog will need water so bring it.
How much are you charged for the use of the dog park?

The bills never go down there’s no transparency. The residents here pay for everything including the water the sales offices drink.

Dogs and cats in very, very small numbers have been tested to have CV. It is believed that they can NOT spread it to humans. But, it is also known that CV is new and, therefore, not there is not enough research to know all the facts. Also, there is some evidence that CV can mutate and has mutated. So, the dog park managers may(?) be acting out of concerned caution?

All fountains were open for about 4-6 weeks then bagged and shut off. Pools, post office, etc. No one seems to know why??

Dogs shouldn’t be drinking that water . Would you drink it? Always bring my own. However , with the muddy trenches after rain storms , it should be available to wash the mud off your dog. Who wants to put a muddy dog in your car

Sure hope TV runs some water through all the closed fountains (perhaps some chlorine too)before letting people use them. Sitting water in pipes is a good place to get Legionella.
