I saw a line of people at the Sumter County building on Pinellas today who looked like they had mail-in ballots in their hands. Can mail-in ballots be dropped off at the county office -- or at the polling station on Nov. 2? Anywhere but the mailbox, please.

Yes, they can be dropped off at the Election Commission office under the copper dome, or at any of the early voting sites. Last time we dropped ours off at Allamanda rec center during early voting.

I am registered for mail in voting. I was notified when it was mailed and I believe it was about three days before it arrived.

3 days incoming after requesting a mail in ballot...not bad

so our expectations should be no more than 3 days going back

if you're voting by mail, you don't have to wait until Nov 3rd to mail it in...but of course one could

so I'm wondering why some are saying that it will take weeks to tally up all the votes...as I would think that all they have to do once they verify that the individual hasn't voted previously is push it through the machine

oh, they don't have an efficient and accurate way to verify if the person already voted on a large scale...so maybe all this hula isn't about the post office after all

hopefully by the time the 2022 mid term elections come around 'they' will have this all streamlined, as this mixed bag of voting options is going to be the way of the future

The mail in envelope is not postage free, so don't forget the stamp. Your vote will not count unless it is returned with the proper 1st class postage.

Florida does not have Absentee Ballots it has a vote by mail system. Please refer to Statutes & Constitution

The Heritage Foundation is a respected conservative think tank that has come out against wide spread vote by mail. It’s Election Fraud Database documents only 1,300 proven instances of vote fraud of any kind, including some cases of absentee ballot fraud. Compared to the tens of millions of votes cast during the period they researched, the number of cases of any type of voter fraud is vanishing small and irrelevant to the outcome of any election. I understand that many want to believe the issue is critical but it is not. Voting by mail is safe and secure, with numerous safeguards built in to detect voter fraud.

No sure why you are saying there is not an efficient and accurate way to verify if a person has voted. In a couple of minutes I was able to find out my vote has been received, but not counted.

One can r egister to receive your voting status by going here : State of Florida Voter Lookup | Search (https://registration.elections.myflorida.com/CheckVoterStatus)

In Florida, vote-by-mail ballots must be received by your elections office before 5pm on November 3rd.

I truly don’t understand the need to mail in your vote. Go to the polls you have early vote from 10/19 to 11/ 2.
I not sure this everyone is so worried.....if you can golf, shopping, go to the squares.....you can vole in person. If you really want to know your vote got counted go to the polls

As someone who lived in Colorado where voting by mail was how it was done, the ballots are solicited. When you register to vote, you are soliciting a ballot to be mailed to you. The only difference between CO and here is we have to ask twice in FL.

We never had any reports of fraud, so please quit listening to the fear mongering.

I am getting ready to mail my ballot and the envelope says, Put first class postage here, in a box in the upper right corner of the envelope. Be sure to sign the back of the envelope and fill out the other info requested or it will be thrown away.

Vote in person at your precinct. I don't trust the postal service's union workers to do their jobs right. Letter carriers, clerks and mail handlers unions are all controlled by the group whose name starts with the fourth letter of the alphabet.

Some states have lots of places where you can drop off ballots early that will be picked up by the election people without going through the mail. I read last night that there is only ONE of these for the entire Houston metro area, with 4.7 million people. I find that disturbing.

As the original poster stated this is not political. I ordered an item which was shipped and received at my post office on September 25, 2020. I know this by the tracking number. I have still not received this package. If they can't deliver something from the local post office to my mailbox in 11 days what does this say about them delivering millions of mail in ballots in a timely fashion.
Is it so hard to exercise your vote by voting in person? What has become of this nation? WWII is probably the last war we will ever win as a unified nation. I am sorry to say we will fail because of our own success. I intend to fight until the bitter end. Unashamed and unrepentant for my love of this country its constitution and its history, with all its warts and blemishes no matter what the crybaby feelgood current apologists say.

The line could have been for payment of county taxes. I dropped off our ballots yesterday and was told to give them to a person collecting inside by the desk. There was one ahead of me. The desk person looked over the ballot envelope to insure all was completed accurately then dropped them into the box.

But there is no way to stop postal employees from throwing ballots in the trash! Since they stupidly printed the political party on the outside of the envelope, any disgruntled postal employee can discard the ballots of the party he disagrees with. Already discarded ballots have been found around the country!! Mail in voting should be banned!!

So, you take your mail in ballot that you received in the mail, that was handled by how many people, fill it out and stand in line with a bunch of people to be told to go inside and HAND it to another person? Hmmm, now that's a great idea of how to avoid the virus. I mean, early voting this month when there is hardly anyone in the line, that is spaced six feet and then waiting until someone calls you to the table that has masked persons checking your ID and handing you a ballot, where you then use a segregated booth to fill it out and then put it in the machine yourself. Some folks will go to a lot of trouble to accomplish the same exact thing.
I'll be voting in person. I will wear my mask and handle a paper ballot that only one person will have touched (likely with gloves) and I will insert it into the machine that has a meter on it where I can see my vote register and counted by the machine.
Gotta love that mass hysteria that has people hiding in their bomb shelters or running amok screaming "the sky is falling." This a great sociology experiment and will be in future text books.

Your mail in ballot requires two Forever stamps, not just one. I read on the gov. site that it requires $.70 postage Someone in Marion county told me that theirs do not require postage but Sumter does.

There were no lines at the Sumter County office. Very large lobby with a box and a person wearing a mask receiving the ballots. We did not touch anything.

Not like you had to wait in line for an open voting booth that other people had used in a close-quarter situation.

If I get infected, I'll let you know so that you can say "I told you so" and if your candidate loses, I will say "I told you so." Once a mail-in is requested online................how fast do you receive it??

We're in Indiana. It took about 10 days each way, after they mailed the ballots to us. (You can sort of track it on the website, so you can see when they send it and when they receive it.) I can't understand why the mail is so slow. Usually a first class item gets from The Villages to here in about 3 days.
