We purchased a Layala queen size mattress @845. Has a soft side and a firm side. So
far we like it. We also picked up a king size mattress at Ashley home store in Ocala for 331 on sale after Christmas.

Chime 12 Inch Hybrid King Mattress in a Box SKU: M69741.

We are happy with this one as well but I don't know if you will find it at that price now. Both were purchased in January of this year.

We tried a Tuft and Needle Mint for about $800 on sale. It is PERFECT. It must be at the one year mark now and we still love it and highly recommend it. Good Luck.

Bought a Clover Murphy Cabinet Bed from Family Furniture on 441 in Leesburg. They have a nice floor display of them. It comes with a gel memory foam queen mattress and has a built-in dual power/USB module on the side. Great for the spare bedroom and it doesn't take up space like a regular bed.

We've had a CASPER for the last few years and really like it but as I have been reading (and from personal experience) all the foam mattresses will eventually soften a little and get a "depression" where you always are sleeping even if rotated every few months. My wife is 5'3" 97 lbs and I am 6' 210lbs and both sides have developed a slight permanent depression - my side obviously more. My sister has a $3500+ Tempurpedic and it has been replaced twice for the same thing. The lower end ones (Casper etc) aren't so quick to replace them despite their warranty. Temperpedic is great for that for $3500+. I figured for what the Casper cost I can replace it 3x before it cost me what her Temperpedic did.

layla yes, the other one was in their store. We have spent more on mattresses than cars in the last 8 years so we hae some experience. I have hip pain at night and if I am diligent and do the stretches recommended by the physical therapist I find my nights much more restful. I have hip bursitis and they say it's common. If you "google" it, you can save yourself a PT visit and see what stretches help with this pesky problem.

It's nice to hear folks have good experiences with Bed in the Box. We tried a few over the years and while comfortable, the two areas that made us return them were the smell even after a few days of opening them up from the box and they get hot during the summer when you sleep on them. Now this was many years ago. Have the BiB mattresses really improved that much to worth a second look?

We love ours. We bought it from Sam's Club. I don't remember the brand, might have been Sealy. It sure is a lot less expensive than other name brands.

Bought 2 twin Casper "Original" mattresses to replace 1 king mattress. After opening the boxes and allowing the mattresses to decompress found that I should have ordered 2 twin XL's since a regular twin is too short. Called Casper to return these. They asked if there was a local Habitat For Humanity organization locally. These mattresses were never slept on but they were donated to HFH. There was no hassle in the return or credit and I went ahead and reordered 2 twin XL mattresses from Casper. We have had them now for a year and love them. Casper not only has a very good product but also excellent customer service.

I have tried several different brands of bed in a box brands. Initially they seemed comfortable but after a few nights I realized they were too firm for me. Obviously peoples preferences vary greatly but nothing is worse than a mattress that is too hard.

I highly recommend to go on Amazon and read all the two and three star reviews at a minimum. Many of them will have pictures and detailed descriptions of what the shortcomings are. The overall rating can be very deceiving.

We bought a King Sweetnight mattress in a box on Amazon for 498.00. It is 12 inch plush pillow top. We put it in the guest room. Everyone who has slept on it has loved it. I tried it one night and it’s so comfortable.

Yes, I just bought two and I am very happy. I bought a “vibe” off amazon and I bought a very sturdy 18” metal frame base. Just make sure when you purchase this, that you do not sleep on it for 48 hours.

We purchased a Casper a couple years ago and returned it within a couple weeks. Our original mattress was 15 inches and the Casper was only 9 inches so looked awful on our bed frame. It was no more comfortable than our old worn out mattress. The refund was easy and Casper sent a 1800 got junk truck to pick it up. I was sorry it could not be donated to a good cause. My daughter has a purple mattress and likes it.

We bought an Amerisleep memory foam “mattress in a box”. We are very happy with it - two years old. It was about 1/3 the cost of the big name brand memory foam mattress.

I bought a Serta memory foam mattress from Sam's Club and I don't like it at all.

I should have known better. Many items that are sold in big box stores under a brand name are not made by the company whose name is one the box. Often those names are used as the result of a licensing agreement.

I'm not saying that this is definitely the case with this Serta mattress but I selected it over others because it was a familiar brand.

Yes Layla......love it
I was waking up with a sore back......gone
I picked Layla because it has two sides Firm or Flip over to Soft....I use the soft side.
I spent a couple of weeks going over online reviews, which was very helpful because they show you what one is best for you and what your looking for. Also some online reviews have coupons.
Everyone in my family have a bed in a box and all love them

I think it's hard to get an unbiased answer. Like anything else, once you put down a bunch of money on something your mind finds ways to justify the purchase. Just human nature.

My wife and I started buying mattresses online about six years ago to save money. It has been a learning experience...all the mattresses start out feeling great, but after a couple years we are back to hurting when we wake up.

The bed in a box industry has changed. You need to figure out how you and your partner sleep, then get a mattress designed for that type of position. Stomach sleepers need a different firmness than back sleepers or they are going to start hurting, for example.

My son and his wife bought a Purple mattress due to the way they sleep. My wife and I bought a Wink mattress, which is a hybrid; it has both springs and foam. With Wink you can order a specific firmness for your size and sleeping position. It comes in a box as well. There was also no wait time for it to fully expand since the springs do that as soon as you unwrap it.

My recommendation: if this is a guest room mattress, go cheap on Amazon. If this is for you and your partner, do the research, figure out how much you can afford and buy the one that fits with a warranty that is honored.

Yes, we had a great experience! Order on line from Sam's. We bought the Zinus Night Therapy 12" ICOIL Euro Boxtop Mattress and SmartBase bed frame set queen & twin. Beaware Sam's delivery is with Fedex and they don't always deliver all your boxes on time and not easy to deal with!

Bought a tulo about 1 yr ago for adult son. (Every night- 200 lbs) It is a bed in box but was able to try it at mattress firm (3 firmnesses). We have Med firm. Do not expect it to last very long (memory foam often doesn’t) but still ok. At price of 400 - 500.00 so far is worth it. At least he was able to try it in the store. Had 2 other much more expensive Serta memory foam Ones that only lasted 5 yrs (And less) before. So if you expect to change mattresses frequently, the cheap price works.

Can I assume you mean a mattress/bed for visitors?

We bought a queen sized inflatable bed (in a bag) with an auto-pressure maintenance feature, for about $100 as I recall. It was so handy we bought a second one to accommodate more than one visitor. They take very little closet space. We’ve loaned them to friends occasionally.

Classic cool gel mattresses from amazon are really really great. Had tempurpedic for Years - since early 90’s - spent a fortune 3 different times. Now the last tempurpedic is in the guest room, and we have the cool gel (3years now) and it is much better. Does help with cooling slightly, and so comfortable. And economic

I trust Consumer Reports and use it for most purchases of this type. It gives 85/100 (the top rated mattress) to the regular Avocado (and 79 to the more expensive version), but the regular model costs $1400. The Casper Hybrid is second choice, with a score of 83/100, and it costs $1200.

I bought a regular queen-size Casper about five years ago. I decided after a few nights that it was too firm. I had a king-size foam mattress topper, 2” thick, that I bought from Walmart fifteen years ago. I put that on top and trimmed it to fit. That solved the problem. Now I love the bed.

The thing to keep in mind is that these are in a box and so much more compact than a regular mattress, but they are still heavy foam. If you own a dolly to move the box to the bedroom, your problem is solved. You may need help getting it into and out of your car. If you don’t have a dolly, sliding it across the floor is hard work. The trucker who brings it might possibly bring it inside for you, but won’t take it to your bedroom or unpack it.

My girlfriend wanted a full-size mattress in a box for occasional use in her guest room. She didn’t want to pay $1,000 for a regular Casper. So I bought her a mattress-in-a-box from Costco for about $450. Getting it up the stairs to the guest room nearly killed me, but everyone who sleeps in that bed raves about how much they love the mattress. The price is great.
