I have been considering either purchasing a 20 to 25 foot center console boat or joining a local boating club. I am looking for any comments, good or bad, from anyone who has been a member of any local boating clubs.

The City of Leesburg operates a marina on Lake Harris...access it via Rt 44 just beyond the park on the right. I believe that they still offer a program where you buy 'shares of a boat'. Once on Lake Harris you can get to any number of lakes...but be careful going though the canals...as the police are there and do enforce the 'no wake' rules

We kept our pontoon boat at Venetian Cove marina on Lake Harris for four years. Harris Chain of Lakes Boat Club had a boat there which was kept clean and usually available. I think there is also another boat club there too. I would talk to the marina manager and get brochures there. I would be careful of contracts not easy to get out of. We moved our boat because of the on going problem with hydrilla.

I have a boat club membership for sale in the Freedom Boat Club of Tampa Bay. Access to literally hundreds of boats from the Lake Harris chain of lakes to the gulf coast. Don't buy a boat without investigating this club. Call me for information. Mike Smucker, 717-203-5041.
Sounds like a good way to go if the price is fair.
