I just enjoyed a wonderful YouTube video by Jerry and Linda, The Villages Newcomers, sharing their golf cart ride across the new bridge. I was surprised that the pedestrian walkway ended at the bridge and did not continue over the bridge. The bridge is beautiful, and hope all can enjoy and share it safely.

It’s not a pedestrian walkway, the entrance to the bridge is steep, and riding a bike could be difficult for some. So you can walk your bike up, and then ride over. Not sure why anyone would walk over the bridge, unless you r going to the grocery and then walking back

Sure, walking in a lane with 2 carts, in an enclosed area, the walker would have no place to go but up. There is maybe a foot raised space on each side of lanes, but you need to be skilled to stay on that. Carts would have to go around walker. I wouldn’t walk in a tunnel, or the bridge, unless there was a safe walking path. But I heard you get extra points for climbing out of the way.

Maybe some in Chitty Chatty want to walk across to Marathon to get a gas station hot dog....🤣🤣

Why not walk down 44? That would be exercise:duck:.

If you can’t walk 10 MPH or more you will be a hazard on the CC bridge and cause danger to others. Walking would be a bad choice.

Just like the paths, ALL of the bridges are multi modal, they are not just cart bridges. There is the same amount of risk on the bridges as on the pathway.

Hmmm! The same amount of risk? On a path I could leap onto the grass if someone failed to see me. On a bridge I could leap off the bridge to my death. (Laughing)

Haven’t been impressed with the CC bridge. All the hoopla will die down soon.

There was an article in today’s paper about an accident between a bicyclist and a golf cart on Marsh Bend Trail. No details given.

If The Villages talks so much about having great multi modal paths then they should have a walkway on the bridges they are building. The Chitty Chatty bridge entrance makes people believe there is a walkway across the whole bridge which isn’t true. People have a right to walk across the bridge and it should be safer than it is at this time.

Why are golf cart drivers so concerned about bikers and walkers about being on bridge, they seem to be not to concerned about on other pathways when they try to come very close. It seems to me it’s part of same agenda to keep us off the paths they think they own , well it’s not working I’ve walked over bridge twice and the sky didn’t fall

You are right. People have a right to walk on multimodal paths. My thoughts are that "they" were trying to get a bridge across and were granted an O.K. for this.

Sometimes we must accommodate ourselves to some disappointment.

No! On a pathway you can step off into the grass to avoid being hit by an inattentive cart driver, on the bridge there is no where to go.

Walking is a form of exercise enjoyed and practiced by many, many Villagers. It's one of the best forms of exercise for people in our age range. Many go on long walks and enjoy the scenery and interest of different places. It is a reasonable expectation that crossing over the Chitty Chatty bridge (or any bridge for that matter) is something that walkers will do. Not to have planned for that accommodation, knowing the demographics of the area, was incredibly short-sighted. The "cart paths" are definitely multi-modal and it is incumbent upon everyone to practice the safe sharing of this resource. If you encounter a walker on the path, SLOW DOWN and PASS SAFELY . . . and, yes, sometimes this may mean stopping and pausing to let various users of the path clear . . . be it a walker, biker, person on a motorized wheelchair, golf cart, etc. -- please try to be smart, be courteous and thinking of others not just yourself in order to keep all of us safe.

Have met walkers at the top of the 441 golf cart bridge.....got my attention. At least on the CC bridge you can see them.
