Must have been a lot of partying on Columbus Day.. went to the grocery by the bridge. We stopped at the stop sign, looked right, and there was a car (Fl plates) in the turning Lane for the bridge. She was determined to go across. Not sure how far she got, didn’t watch the drama.
Then stopped at the bank at Colony, coming out of the bank, a car is turning into the cart path next to the rec center. Hope they stopped before the tunnel. It’s never a dull day in TV

There was a car (it was a Chevy Malibu IIRC) a week or so ago around 11AM that drove through the tunnel by Morse/Stillwater circle. We assume he went onto the golf cart path at Winn-DIxie then made a left into the tunnel somehow avoiding the post there. He drove right past us as we were walking in that same direction. Fortunately no carts were coming the other way. Evidently he ended up on the grass over the curb to avoid the post at the Stillwater end then took off through the gate and onto Morse. We yelled at him before we (and he) got to the tunnel but he just waved. Probably thought we were one of the "friendly Villagers" everyone reads about. Couldn't get my camera out fast enough. The gate guard just shook his head when we walked by. Then another time someone tried to go OUT the IN gate at the same spot on Stillwater. They had to be British. :)

I've seen a golf cart going westbound on 466 about 1/4 mile from Morse Blvd. Have no idea how he got out there.

Man I hope that's not me when I have to figure out how to navigate TV with a golf cart for the first time this winter since I can't drive my car through the border.

I do not golf so am not out and about in the Villages a great deal but in the 15 and almost a half years we have been here I have only seen this maybe 6 times. And most of the time these vehicles going under the CR466 road by Southern Trace Shopping Center. Once was a large pick up truck which did not get very far as it did not have clearance for the tunnel. It was not one of the workers around the Villages in the truck as there were no markings on it like the Villages logo or some Sumter County Transportation or other agency decal.

Nasty comment about someone having to be British by making a wrong way exit.
We (the Brits) often pre-Covid travel to the continent and change sides to drive on - some American friends who were staying with us were amazed when we arranged to take them on a day trip to France - drove to the Ferry on the left - drove around in France all day on the right - then back to the UK and drove home on the left - we call it concentration and awareness, Incidentley a USA diplomats wife is refusing to go back to the UK after killing a teenager on his motorcycle by driving on the wrong side - she is claiming diplomatic immunity !!! Don't make nasty comments - it is not appreciated.

I had a PT cruiser come at me through the Colony tunnel. People were yelling & waving as they tried to get out of the way, but he just kept coming and turned left onto the golf cart path.

Folks that drive like that won't be on the road much longer....they're the ones that originally received their licenses from Sears
Sears is no longer renewing driver's licenses

Not easy getting used to our style of driving on once side and suddenly have to drive on the other side.

Just can't fix stupid. People seem very stubborn. Even if they can't fit they still try to go the way they've made up their mind no go.
Read that loosely on "mind".

Calling a comment a joke does not make it okay. It is still an insult Weather you are laughing or not.

Are you kidding... It was a humorous comment not meant to be insulting at all. Step back and take a deep breath and lighten up. It’s all good!

If you live here long enough you too will try it. We all have or nearly have. Sometimes we are thinking about other things and forget which vehicle we are in.
Just about everyone has turned into a cart path in a car or almost have done so.
Except for me of course. I am perfect.

Yup, sadly, I was making my way out of my neighborhood in a golf cart, heading to work(golf course), letting my mind wonder, while the gate opened, and I entered the circle, I immediately tried to recall which way I was heading, when suddenly I realized I JUST DROVE MY CART THRU THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE...only to continue around, and back thru the gate, and turn onto the MMP. And I am only 57?! Cheers!

On another related note...I just played Lopez yesterday. While leaving the parking lot, an older man was changing his shirt, leaning against his car's (opened)trunk, and his car alarm was going off(lights blinking). He closed the trunk and proceeded to walk away, toward the pool bar/restaurant, while the alarm was still blaring away. A lady walked toward him to ask him about it, and he looked at both of us, and we both yelled that it was HIS car alarm. He never realized it, and returned back to his car. Enough said.

I have personally followed two carts going West from Morse on CR 466. In both cases, I put on my four way signals and got behind them to warn other drivers who might not see the golf cart while going 60 mph. Both golf cart drivers thanked me and pulled off the highway as soon as possible. We are only human and sometimes make mistakes. I think it is smarter to help than to attack anyone in this situation. My two cents.
