According to Mike's website he has 595 days to go until retirement (but who's counting). In any case, they have taken the first step by putting a deposit down on a lot.
I know my last couple of years at work really flew by quickly.

Nonie: "Soon" is relative term. We won't be frogs until about April 2012. But in order to prepare to "croak," we put a deposit on a lot in Tamarind Grove. We will begin building in August 2011. And, yes, I'm counting down the days until retirement ---> www.mikenmag.com/retire

Mike, I love your page!
Now a question, I have only been in TV about a month, so what is the lunch at Crispers all about?
Welcome vj.. its a monthly luncheon at Crispers where the members of TOTV meet and just have a lot of fun and conversation with all our friends. There are many newbies who come to it and talk to us old folks who have been here for awhile. Its a place to see our friends in person, face to face, and many people have created long standing friendships through this event. Usually we post pictures from the lunch so that those not lucky enough to be in TV can see what we look like in person, but unfortunately, I have been remiss in this duty of late.
Please join us tomorrow, we usually sit outside on the patio but if its raining or too hot, we'll be inside. Hope to see you then.
Crispers is in the southern trace shopping plaza on 466 and the 101.

Had a terrific time at Crispers yesterday! This was our first time at the monthly gathering... couldn't have enjoyed it more - such friendly, caring, fun people. We can't wait for the day that we are here permanently.

Yes, Mayor KathieI did indeed take many pix. But she allowed as how it would probably take her "some time" before she posts them! She always pleads being too busy!
It was a good gathering. Several new faces, which is always fun.

Oh my goodness, please....not to worry.
As I have said before, my people call it conversation, not hijacking.
Your buttons sound like fun. I think you are talking about buttons that can be pushed. I have some buttons that can be pinned on, and I used to display them quietly on a little cork board behind my desk in my office.
One of the buttons says, "Humpty Dumpty was pushed." The other one has a picture of Natasha (as in Boris and Natasha) and Natasha is saying, "Shut up and dance."
Now, I will bring this back to topic because I am such a good and perfect citizen of TOTVland.............
One of these days, sometime in the next few months possibly, I could show up at a Crispers lunch but nobody will know who I am because I will be so clever. I will be wearing a great big hat and also giant sunglasses that will have a nose and mustache attached so nobody will know that it is me. (or I?) I do not want to have my picture taken and posted. (even though I would love to attend to meet other TOTVers) But that's just me. I know others like pictures.
And on that very topic, I want to share here in this thread what happened to me when I met your photographer-in-residence, Kathie.
This note is for Kathie, but others are welcome to read along if you would like to know what happened when Boomer met Kathie.....
Dear Kathie,
I do not know if I ever really properly thanked you. But, as you might remember, once when I was in TV, I tracked you down because I knew where you might be dancing and I wanted to meet you. I introduced myself as Boomer and you were as lovely and charming and warm in real life as you are on TOTV.
And then, you held up your cellphone and said, "Picture?"
And I said, "Please no pictures."
And you did not take my picture.
A little thing it seems like maybe to others. To me, it was important that you did not grab that photo-op when you certainly could have -- technology being what it is. I thought that was such a class-act thing you did for me. Thank you. You seem to tune in to others immediately. Maybe that is why you take such good pictures. You can see the big picture.
Sincerely,
Boomer

MY wife never wants her picture taken and gets very uneasy around people with cameras. We did go to one TOTV luncheon and they were very good about it - although she kept looking for the cameras.
Some people just don't want their picture taken.
Boomer

Hey, zcaveman, tell your wife that I understand completely.
And I know that Whalen is just yankin' my chain by starting a rumor that I am a vampire.
But wait!
Whalen!
Are you planning to open up a booth at the TOTV luncheons in case people are worried that I am, indeed, a vampire and I might show up? I can see it now, "Step right up! Get your garlic and mirrors here! Right here! She could show up at any time! Better to be safe than sorry -- and pale!"
Ohhhhh, Whalen, something tells me that you could be quite the entrepreneur.

I don't want to start rumors....but I heard from a reliable source that Boomer is in a witness protection program. A lot of people are. They testified that a recent person in high places couldn't spell or misplaced almost all of his participles. Now they gotta hide.(They were all ENGLISH MAJORS!)
Retaliation you know.

Naw, definitely NOT a vampire. Possibly a celebrity who chooses to maintain anonymity. More likely a play, novel, or screen writer. She certainly has the talent for it!
Am I close, dear Boomer? Or, is it that you choose to not have Paula Dean see your picture? Ahhh, so many suppositions!! <grin>

PS: Think it's about time to start another never-ending story? We miss your stories ala soap style with the goofy characters.

Well....ain't this just grand. (Did you see that?)
First a vampire. Now, even worse, an English major.
Oh well, last week I think I gave everybody the impression that I carry on with the butcher to get the best steaks.(But you should have seen the ones that I served to last night's company.)
Geez. Doesn't anybody understand why I cannot show my face around here???

Oh Barb, aka Skuppy Garfield. Kind words. But.....(sigh) I once dreamed of writing a newspaper column. But ironically I did not think I would have any staying-power (she said 2000+ posts into TOTV) and now that I have quit my day job (sigh) there are no newspapers. None that would want me anyway. And besides, this is much more fun. No deadlines and I can wallow in my bad punctuation.
Also Barb, that long winter when I used to meet the old-timers in my kitchen on those cold mornings, that was when I told you that my soap opera name is Rusty Eden and then I made up little vignettes after people gave me their soap opera names, but I was not in the longer story that appeared later. By that time I knew my limits and had to quit while I still could. Soooo long ago when we used to have a post maybe every half hour around here, and I think there were two forums.
But I remember Skuppy and all the others, too, who showed up. That kitchen with the desk has since been remodeled and the desk has moved to a sunroom. Had I put this infernal computer in a dark corner of the basement like I always planned to do, Boomer would have not been tempted so often to look in here and find a place to land and start writing mostly silly stuff.
And now, I must get out of here today. I have some plans later with friends that I can actually see.
Bye for now, Skuppy.

You could start a new career with self-help books/articles on "How to Write Soap Operas", "How to Answer Forum Posts", or "Where to Hide Your Computer". And all these could be done on your computer to be posted to a blog, or filmed for YouTube. You get the picture.:read: The ideas are endless.....

Oh Boomer, I am lucky enough to be able to say that I MET BOOMER!! I have no idea why you want to be incognito as I was amazed at how beautiful you are and I'm sure photogenic. However, I guess I will never know that for sure. It was such a pleasure to meet you and Mr. Boomer that night. I often suspect you are a CIA agent in disguise LOL, but I certainly respect your desire not to be photographed.. Did I read somewhere that perhaps we will have the pleasure of another visit from you??? Will you promise to let me know when and I promise not to have a camera handy... Best regards, Kathie
