There are a lot of people who do not believe COVID is as deadly or as contagious as others believe. You simply have to choose where to go or how to take care of daily duties. I order groceries online & pick up. I wear my mask in public & hand sanitize constantly. I do not go to squares or large gatherings. We do go out to dinner. This is really nice to hear. We visited our son in Brooklyn, NY. We were warned that masks are required all the time outside. There were kids playing soccer in masks. People walking on the street, not even near anyone, wearing a mask. I cannot catch heart disease from someone who eats poorly. I cannot catch cancer from someone who doesn't wear sunscreen. But I certainly can be infected with a virus from someone who gets it from not practicing simple common safe practices. Being elderly and having serious health problems (e.g. diabetes) makes you the most vulnerable. I suspect those who fit into this category a. were not at rally or b. were masked. According to the EXPERTS there is no worry about the spread of covid at protests. The reason why..........

1. The protests took place outdoors, allowing the droplets containing the virus to disperse or evaporate. Even opening a window is a key step in keeping viral droplets from lingering. One early study of 1,245 coronavirus cases in China found that only one instance of transmission occurred outdoors: a close conversation where two men also shook hands.

I didn't go to the rally.....I don't like crowds or parades...never did. Instead I chose to watch FOX NEWS for coverage. I got a better view, was comfortable, and heard better.
That said, I didn't make note of ''social distancing" as it was an outdoor venue.

As for being concerned about Covid. Well, I'm not. If I get it, I get it. However I will get over it. (and I'm in the susceptible group). You watch the news, and they say that we need more testing....and then they say that 7,000 more people had Covid today. Geez...how did they know. Maybe more (7000) people DID get tested. The newscasters are speaking out of both sides of their mouth, so I don't believe in much of what they have to say. My own, uneducated and humble opinion of Covid, is that it isn't as deadly as the newscasters and politicians (some of them) say. I believe that it is seriously dangerous to a certain segment of the population, and just an irritant to the rest. It "weeds out" the vulnerable people. Kind of a viral "survival of the fittest". In the long run, it may be good for the world, as it may provide them with an immunity for other viral infections.....who knows. What I do know is that for some people it provides sadness and uncertainty. That part of it is bad.

I for one don't trust that masks work. Just look at the various "masks" people wear. They're not medical grade. I wear something to avoid confrontations with those who lack self control in public and try to avoid large crowds of people I don't know or with whom I don't regularly socialize.

South Dakota Department of Health is allegedly attributing 88 positive tests to the Sturgis rally in South Dakota and that with 450,000 rally attendees, that’s a 0.02% infection rate.

80,000+ die each year of the flu and that's with a vaccine. So, an additional 144,000 died. That's an additional 0.0004 of the population or 0.04%.

And for that we ruined the economy and shut down the country? Stupid stupid stupid.

So, millions and millions of people have lost their jobs, homes, careers, savings, more broken families, abuse, suicides for the few that are vulnerable to this? This is not meant to sound uncaring. But, why are the lives of those who die from the virus substantially more important than those millions who have "died" in economically or in so many other ways.

I think your view is not fair. I really, really, really, wanted to go but didn't. I am 80, have a pacemaker and both of the other amazing people in our house also shouldn't be exposed. I know that people who say they are Republican or Democrat are not all cut precisely from the same cloth using the same pattern. Assuredly us older ones are formed with all kinds of views and beliefs that don't fit into someone's idea of what a "stay at home mother" or a "rocket scientist" or a "person with dough" or an "activist" is. Most Villagers are thinking, caring, extremely responsible people. I don't look down on those who went but I surely hope no one get's sick. I cannot tell you how close I was to getting in the golf cart and heading that way. On the same note, I KNOW that all people who join marches do not loot and burn. I know that. Our covid19 positive count has increased to 112 (an increase of 42 in two weeks) with a forecast of 15 more in the next few days with all of the cases linked to attendance at the baptism. I shudder when I see pictures of people deliberately attending events like yesterday in TV with no social distancing for long periods of time. What sense does that make ? Usually I would be back in TV by now. I am dragging my feet and watching the TV hospitalization rate / bed availability rate for the next month.
