Not sure why you need a structural engineer, there are several home inspection companies, i have used Frank DeAngelo as well as several neighbors, and I highly recommend him.

Thanks Tinker. My lender is requiring an engineer and my realtor says that sometimes happens with manufactured homes.

I haven't seen any terrible falling down manufactured homes here in The Villages. The only thing I worry about for friends who live in them is the Hurricane situation and we have only seen that as an issue once in fifteen years here.

What the lender is looking for is to make sure the home is anchored in accordance with current hurricane standards. You might try doing a search for mobile home inspectors. There has to be someone local who is certified to make that determination.

There are lots of structural engineers in the area Ken. Was hoping to find someone a Villager had first hand experience with. The lender clarified it can’t be an inspector. It has to be an engineer. Picky, I agree.

The lender is telling them to get an engineer. NOT an inspector

My appraisor wrote in her appraisal that since we had 2 add ons to our manufactured home that she would suggest that the lender require an expert opinion on the additions, and mold inspections, which cost me an extra 1,000 dollars extra just to get the loan approval. By the way both the structual engineer and the mold inspector did not find any thing negative to report. In my opinion that appraisor is not worth a damn. They are well over paod anyway.

Thanks Ohio. Yes, got an engineer and he was in and out of there in less than ten minutes. Didn’t find any problems. Thanks all for your input.
