You didn't say how "small" the holes were. If they are the size of a fist, you can fill it with newspaper and the use quick dry compound and smooth it (after it drys) with some sand paper. It may need 2 or 3 coats, but it's not hard. I'm sure the good people at Lowes or Home Depot can help you.

Sorry for the late reply. There is a sheetrock compound that applies pink and turns white when cured. Lightly apply compound after dried use course wet sponge to remove high spots do the same for the second coat and possibly third lightly sand or use damp sponge. There is a spray product to match stucco finish of wall but try on paper first.

Sounds like the hole is bigger than your fist, they also sell drywall patches that peel and stick then you put on the compound.

Exactly right.
That pink stuff is great for small holes. It also sands really well. The process seems a lot more difficult than it is. The patch kits also work pretty well too.

This thread gave me a good giggle, especially the paper falling in the hole. Good for you for trying to fix it yourself and remember google has every bit of helpful advice/videos you can imagine. I sure have had my share of trial and errors!

Hi, I went to Youtube and searched “how to patch small holes in drywall.” Tons of videos came up. I went to Lowe’s and bought the products that were recommended in the video I selected. :clap2::clap2: I’m a 73 year old woman with zero DIY skills and I patched the holes!
Good luck, you can do it, if I could. 👍🏼

I would cut a rectangular area slightly larger than the hole vertically and horizontally halfway to each of the nearest studs. Cut a piece of dry all the same size as the rectangular opening and screw it into the studs. Then fill in the spaces with joint compound and paint. If you have popcorn walls, you can buy a small spray can of the stuff. You might not even need paint.
