Looking For A House

Hi. I have been here since the beginning of August and have been actively searching for a house to buy. My realtor showed me many houses, but nothing that says, 'this is it'. My price point tops at 170,000; and I would like 3 bedrooms if possible. If anyone knows of a nice home for sale with privacy in back, please send me a message.
I am also considering a rental for 6 months-1 year so that I can continue to learn about the different neighborhoods. I came here as a sceptic, but have really enjoyed my days, keeping busy doing activities I like. I see that a person can do as much or little as they want. I am happy as long as I have a TJ Max nearby!
I am alone, drove down from Wisconsin and so I am very proud of myself. I really don't want to leave at the end of the month, except to hug my two adorable grandchildren.

Well now, isn't that nice to hear! Certainly not a rambling but a discussion of your beginnings here in Paradise.

I am searching for just this kind of house for friends of ours. I have found several on The Villages site. If you want me to email you my findings too, just send me a message and give me your email.

The first thing I do every day is check the "New homes listed" on The Villages site. I love to open them and see how the houses are decorated. I really enjoy seeing how each home is different, even though really they are ALL pretty similar. There isn't a lot of architectural diversity.

1.You have the right idea about renting until you find something that you like.
2. By doing as much or little as you please.

The 170K probably won't be the problem. Combining 170K and privacy might be unless you want a villa. Then you should be able to find something.

Would you consider building new? Ask your TV agent about the cottage neighborhood in the the new Village of Tamarind Grove. There are a large number of lots with privacy - some with a pasture and many with a villa wall. A few of pasture lots are priced at $10,000 and some of the village wall lots are priced at $8,000.

Good idea. I think that total could be under/around 170K. Even less if you didn't upgrade much.

I am a school teacher and will be retiring in 3-4 years and my husband recently closed a family business. We would like to find a new home or build one under $200.000. Could you elaborate a little? For 200K you should be able to find something you like and the neighborhoods, for the most part, are a mix of various styles and price points.

I think it is best to take as much time as you can and when the right house comes along be ready to buy. I think I would rent for a month in different villiages and styles of house instead of one 6 month rental. But I do agree, if you can stay and keep looking I would not go back home. You could also sell your old home and store your belongings if you are certain that you will be moving.
