I get a notice on my laptop to update my adobe shockwave which no longer can get updates.. do I need this? and what is it used for ? is there a FREE replacement? they recommend Creative Cloud which is not free... I have windows 8.1 and do not play video games on it ... thx

Just uninstall shockwave. Nothing uses it anymore and any site that does shouldn't be visited because shockwave is a gaping security hole on any web page.

LINUX is free and has tons of free software, like GIMP.
