Next door neighbor got a lithium Club Car a little more than a year ago...claims she can only go a maximum of 20 miles on a charge.

Lithium is the best option out there! Just make sure you buy enough battery. My mom has a Ezgo RXV Elite 4.0 which is the largest battery they offer. She has zero issues with range limitations and can go from Orange Blossom on the Historic side drive to Brownwood golf 9 holes, putz around the town square and drive home and still have 1/3 charge. Avoid the Elite 2.0 as they have much smaller batteries and were intended more for shorter distance and fleet carts.
Zero maintenance 10-15+ year battery life, no acid, no gas fumes. It's the way to go.
I have also built a number of Lithium battery packs from scratch and have a bit of experience in the area.

Just do not get less than 100AH capacity if you have range concerns.

The EZ-GO ELiTE RXV lithium can be purchased with two or three different battery sizes. I was told The Villages Golf Cars only sells the largest size (4.0, I think is the designation). We've had one of those since May and are very happy so far. Super quiet, very low vibration, and no odor. Plenty quick and I don't worry at all about range - I couldn't sit in a golf cart long enough in one day to run the battery out on ours. Charger mounted on the wall right next to our parking spot so a quick plug-in gets it charged with no battery maintenance or trips for fuel. Of course, all those advantages do come with a higher price tag and we all evaluate value vs. cost differently. Check 'em out yourself.

We've had our 2021 RXV Elite about 5 weeks. Love it! I drive it about 100 miles per week and put it on the charger twice a week. Really like the idea of never having to changing oil, belts etc ($90+) per year. Battery packs are under full warranty for 8 years, Samsung thinks they should last 12. ZERO maintenance.

He told me they do not leak any fluids but as we talked he told me they gave you a free mat to park on. Why would you need that if they do not leak. I drive the cart 10 to 20 miles every day and get home plug it in after each ride Lithium ion batteries have no memory and also a bms (battery management system) which protects the battery from over charging and other things so they last. It does not matter if you just ran to the post office or out sight seeing. You plug it in when you get home and forget about it. Personally I think it is the best option.

Fyi - To maximize battery life, some Lithium battery manufacturerswaiting until the level drops below 20-30% before recharging. Suspect the battery and charger have the intelligence to help manage this.

I replaced the four 12v batteries on my Ez-Go with two 48v batteries. The batteries came with a 7 year unconditional guarantee which suited me because I had neglected to keep up with distilled water on my last set of lead acid batteries. I am happy with the two, if I need more range I can add a third or fourth battery.
I did the replacement myself - I had to add a 48v to 12v convertor for the lights ($19 on Amazon)
The package included a 'smart' charger and plastic spacer batteries to keep everything in place. relionbattery dot com No, I am not on commission.

I got a new EVolution cart from Luxus in Leesburg (formerly Par Car) two months ago. It is 130 AH 48 v system. Plenty of speed, very quiet and under $10K. check them out.

I am extremely satisfied with the ReLIon Lithium batteries I just bought for my cart. Easy to install, excellent performance, Zero maintenance for the life of the batteries (up to 24,000 miles ... probably longer than the life of the cart), up to 50 mile range without any degradation with age, range is can be increased at any time by adding another battery, 400 pounds less weight on the cart, reduced weight and higher peak current provides fantastic acceleration (I now zip across busy intersections), Bluetooth charge indicator so I can track my batteries on my cell phone, small lightweight charger, far superior to gas (no oil changes, no trips to gas station or storing fuel in my garage, no stink, no air pollution, much less noise pollution, much smoother operation, regenerative braking, less weight). I retrofit my 2011 EZGO RXV with S51105 Roypow lithium battery. Weighs 95 pounds. STM of Ocala did it for $2568. Only had it back for a week but it looks like range is 65 miles. I just had an odometer installed so will be able to report more accurate range in a few weeks.

I owned the Evolution with a 130AH battery but only got 40-45 miles range so I returned it. Interesting that I get 50% more range with an old EZGO with a 105AH battery.

Build yourself a 16s CALB CA400 LiFePO4 pack and easily go to Tampa and back on a single charge :)

Hard to believe you only got 45 miles with the 130ah lithium. Reckon It should be good for at least 60 miles.

For snowbirds, a lithium battery should be stored ideally at 30% state of charge if you are gone for more than one month...At least run it down to half. Lead acid batteries need to be charged full at all times or lead sulfate crystals will form on the plates permanently reducing battery capacity. For lead acid batteries, get a smart charger like the Lester Summit 2 ($350 with cordset on amazon) that has a storage mode program that will top off your batteries automatically every 10 days. The Lester can be programmed/monitored with bluetooth smartphone/ipad ChargerConnect App.

A lithium battery does not like to sit at fully charged...where as a lead acid battery does.

Zero maintenance, no stink, much less noise, much less cost per mile (1 cent versus 10 cents with gas), range with three batteries is 40 to 50 miles and I can add a battery at any time if I want to extend that (to well over 100 miles), expected battery lifetime is 24,000 miles (probably longer than my expected lifetime).

I'm told before the Villages expanded beyond 466A, all golf carts were electric. I suspect now that battery technology has caught up with the growth of the Villages, electric will become the standard again. Why would anyone want 1950s lawn mower technology when they can have 21st century lithium power? I would recommend anyone with a gas cart upgrade to lithium now while there is still some resale value in the gas cart.

Yes, though remember that Lithums can be discharged to zero. Lead Acid should only be discharged to 50%. So a 120AH Lithium is roughly equivalent to a 240AH Lead Acid.

Still pleased. Looks like I am getting closer to 62 miles now but since I finished my review I charge more frequently. I'll probably try charging less frequently and see if it goes back up.

Need to replace batteries on my 2009 Tomberlin and researching lithium. Anyone know why STM in Ocala won't replace for my Tomberlin? Is lithium even an option for me? I see the new Tomberlins come w/lithium batteries. We were going to shop for the new quieter Yamaha but to be honest, I still love my Tomberlin and will def miss electric.
