My lady and I after 7 years have decided to get married in TV this winter. We are snow birds and would like just a small non-denominational venue. Is there a city hall or anybody have other recommendations?

Marriage Records | Sumter County Clerk of Courts (https://www.sumterclerk.com/marriage-records)

A marriage license can be obtained at the courthouse in Bushnell (352-569-6810 - Option 2) or the North Sumter Annex on CR 466, The Villages (352-689-4625).

The Clerk of the Circuit Court can perform the marriage ceremony for a statutory fee of $30.00. Please call one of the above numbers to schedule the ceremony.

Note that there is a three day waiting period in Florida unless you take a four hour class from an approved provider in which case you can be married the same day you apply for the license.

I had to re-read your comment, as at first I thought you were talking about taking a class for a driver’s license, not a marriage license. :ohdear:

What does the four hour class cover, just out of curiosity?

LOL, Gracie, I agree with you. I know you were just trying to give helpful advice. You are right about marriages in later life but not all of them are risky. I married late, knew my hubby for 17 years prior to marriage. We only got married after we knew that in life and in death we would always be together.

Safe Ship in Colony Plaza will marry people. I know, a little unusual.

Sounds like a good idea to explore hiring a justice of the peace for a ceremony in your back yard. Another idea would be to contact one of the regional recreation centers and ask if you could use one of their outdoor facilities. There is a very nice outdoor area at the end of the Lake Miona Rec Center that looks across at the Pelican Executive course. Just and idea to consider?? Good luck and best wishes : )

I believe it covers basic anatomy, child care, yard work, cooking, cleaning, domestic book-keeping, real estate contract law, and Florida spouse abuse law.

That said, how about Sunset Point on Lake Sumter at Sunset? Or dawn, for that matter.

Find a friend who is a notary and have them officiate. Have a huge party at your house or “social distance” in your yard. (Had to say that or the virus police would jump in)

They waited 7 years don't think 3 days will kill them.

Florida does NOT have a Justice of the Peace. Notary Public's were given that responsibility
I have been doing them 18 years in TV. There are many beautiful sites to choose from. See some on my website http://thevillagenotary.webs.com/ Good luck in your search.

If you attend church services here inquire about having it there. Most offer their building free to members, just pay the Pastor.

The Waterfront Inn would be nice for an outside ceremony and then the reception inside.

So what happens during the 3 day wait, you teach yourself those topics? It sounds like a class to teach a wife how to behave, welcome to 1950. Do they teach you FL is not a community property state?

My husband and I are commissioned ministers and do non-denominational weddings. We can help you with where to do them and how to do them. We would be happy to help. Check out our website www.centralfloridaweddinminister.com

We got married outside La HACIENDA Rec Center, overlooking the pond. They also did the catering. It was so beautiful.

We had an ordained minister marry us. His wife works with him, they are wonderful. This is his number 1 352-751-7378. I wish you both years of happiness. :)
