I was shocked to drive by Spanish Spring's Square tonight and see HOW MANY PEOPLE were there. ZERO parking spots. WOW. I think it was some kind of a 'cruise in'. Were you there? Did you feel okay with the amount of people mingling? Certainly not my cup of tea during a pandemic since I have to be super careful to not get sick, but wondering if you felt safe enough to attend.

In normal times it's once a month on a Saturday at SS. Certain car clubs will be featured and cars start to arrive around 3pm and the band starts at 4pm. Usually the band is one the top 5 groups, such as Rocky & the Rollers, Johnny Wild & the Deelites, The Hooligans, Uncle Bob's Rock Shop and couple of others. They'll sometimes add a third beer stand, a portable tent on the north side of the square. Some of the food trailers will be there such as Bobalou's BBQ, my favorite. I believe today was the first Cruise-in since last March.

Monthly cruise nite started up again. There were about 100-150 cars on display parked around the square. Not all that crowded compared to normal. I paid no attention to the crowd inside the square.

Part of the draw was the entertainment... Johnny Wilde. The two together makes for LOTS of people. I was there. You can walk around to see the cars wearing a mask. I thought that was safe. I don't have a dance partner so I didn't dance but I was able to bring a chair and sit away from the crowds. There are spots where you don't have to mingle. You just have to look for them. That still allows you to enjoy their music, which is awesome.

Exactly, you moved here from a state with a lockdown. Obviously, where you lived, must have had a major breakout of the virus which mandated a reason for that lockdown. We could be in the same position here in the flash of a moment if people become irresponsible in making an effort to avoid the spread. We would not need lockdowns if people followed a few simple steps. One, no large gatherings. Right now, we have people coming from all over the US, to their winter homes, rentals or a vacation. The risk level is going up each day along with the number of people getting sick here in TV. Unfortunately, geographically, we live in an area that does not have but two hospitals which are barely equipped to handle a normal aging population, let alone a pandemic. I am so tired of people saying stay home or I am healthy so I do not need to worry. Cancer is a silent killer. Heart issues sometimes kill without knowledge and people could be spreading the virus and not even know they have it. I hope we never have to experience what you did, but, if we continue to allow large crowds for events like this, that day may be repeated for you. You say you will be there for us....what you can do for us is be responsible and do not spread the virus in our community. People don’t have to stay home, but in the last month, we see so many people arriving here to escape the virus, and because our numbers are low, they act like there is no virus!! Clearly many of you did not lose a beloved family member-who had NO comorbidities-to Covid-19. And clearly many of you don’t have family members working in hospitals caring directly for Covid patients...risking their own lives. Maybe talk to one of these healthcare workers that has been the only one who can hold that patients hand when they’re terrified, because the patients spouse & children can’t come into the hospital because of Covid.
It’s hard for me to understand that so many people can believe this isn’t an actual concern, unless they truly live in a ‘bubble’ and don’t know anyone who has been directly impacted by this very real pandemic.

The restrictions they are asking for to try and curb COVID are very similar to those they have for smoking. No smoking indoors, no smoking outdoors in crowded places like stadiums or DisneyWorld, no smoking on public transit. All those places where smoking is banned are places we should be wearing masks or avoiding entirely. And it’s pretty much for the same reason, second hand smoke can harm others. People who are infected but don’t know it yet can infect others if they don’t wear a mask.

Same crazy ridiculous situation in Sumter landing. Went to pick up curbside Japanese food and couldn't believe the traffic and no parking spaces available and traffic jams at 6 o'clock at night . This is one of the primary reasons that the pandemic is getting worse and not better. As long as there are people not believing the science not wearing masks not social distancing many many more thousands of Americans will die . I for one will do everything in my power to believe the science social distance wear a mask and let my opinion be known.

Fisherman - I respect your freedom to state your views. With regard to speculating on my situation - no, my strong lock-down state - did not have a high COVID outbreak - at any time. Our Gov decided to lock everything down. From my experience - being forced to stay in my home with no human contact - equates to no life and no purpose - to me, it is not living. Based on your opinion - it seems like you would love living in a state with strict lock downs. FYI - home prices and availability are abundant in lock-down states outside of FL (decent weather - I moved from a state with negligible snow and ice (never experienced once while I was there) - and lots of 55+ active communities!!).
We all face *NON* COVID virus related risks every day (other viruses are rampant contributing to cancer, poor habits that contribute to heart issues and stroke, driving on roads where there are drivers who are drunk,....) yet - we have learned to live and either made adjustments to what we do -or- accepted life w/the risks. Staying in a strict lock-down state was impacting my mental and physical health - and I took action to avoid that risk to my life. You have that same choice. Again, I want to be available to anyone who needs help -e.g., supplies, someone to talk to, ..... I know a lock-down (state or self imposed) can be severely debilitating and life threatening.

We were there and cut our visit very short due to the lack of any social distancing or use of masks. The crowd was very large at 6:00PM, especially inside the square. It just astounds me when I see a crowd of this size with very few masks and standing/dancing closely. We left the square and had an outside dinner at the Mexican restaurant. It will be interesting to see if this was a super-spreader event. We'll know in a week or so. Hope not, but I'm not hopeful.

We were there, yes there were a lot of people crowding around the cars. I did not feel comfortable even with my mask on since others were not wearing theirs. I found a way to move and social distance and still enjoy walking around and enjoy the music even though I could See everything I was Able to hear everything. Find what makes you comfortable.

Usually the band is one the top 5 groups, such as Rocky & the Rollers, Johnny Wild & the Deelites, The Hooligans, Uncle Bob's Rock Shop and couple of others. They'll sometimes add a third beer stand, a portable tent on the north side of the square. Some of the food trailers will be there such as Bobalou's BBQ, my favorite. I believe today was the first Cruise-in since last March.

You really think you are watching clips of people dying, can you say Lawsuit. I worked for 5 months April to end of August. Maybe just more experienced staff, but rarely did you see any staff weeping, sad, but if you fell apart who was going to take over. We were Tired, but not the off the rails crazy that you see being interviewed.

So after being exposed for 50 plus hours a week, Making the choice to return from my 5 week retirement, for me, I still feel it was a matter of luck that I didn’t have any symptoms. Then again out of the 6 facility’s, I was affiliated with, you weren’t tested, unless you showed symptoms, so you never know. I was never tested, before, during, or after, during the 5 months. The rest of my family is still working, feel the same as I do, sometimes it’s a matter of luck, can’t really give credit to good genes, or immune system

AND camera crews ARE allowed in SOME hospitals - they are given SPECIAL permission. I have EVEN seen video of non-blurred faces of patients that gave interviews AFTER they got off of ventilators. AND they gave harrowing tales of torturous pain while on those same ventilators. I have seen at least 3 of those types of patients. I do NOT leave the house much, so I watch a lot of news on ALL the channels. I would NOT spend all this typing time to lie at a forum like this. That would be stupid of me!
