We are coming down next week to look at houses. Do you have to repaint the block & stucco houses very often, and if so, what would be an approximate cost?
Had my block and stucco house repainted this spring. It had been 4 years since the original paint was applied and from the sun, paint color had faded. Also when the houses were painted originally, they were sprayed with paint. Paint that is sprayed on leaves a thinner coat than paint applied with a roller or brush.
The fellow that painted the interior of my house also painted the exterior. For the exterior I paid $1000 plus about $500 for paint. Prices vary from painter to painter.
Two coats of paint were applied on each exterior wall.

Our house is 5 years old. We moved in last summer. We had the house washed by No Pressure (not powerwashed). They use a more friendly wash process. Came out beautiful. We think we can easily get a year or 2 more out of the original paint.

:) Thank you for your replies. The information will be helpful when we consider which type of house to buy.

We had a block/stucco home in Sarasota for 9 years - needed to be painted after 7 years. Sun beats them up.
I wanted same here in T.V. but my wife said 7 magic words which convinced me to go with vinal - "You will never have to paint it!"
Time will tell if I was wrong or she was right. (She was right but don't tell her.)
